We golfed this course in March 2024 and I think it's fair to say that the clubhouse and pro shop were both very nice and the staff were very nice but the course was terrible, the conditions on the course were just horrible and the course was soaked following a rain storm but the overall condition of the course was awful, the worst part amongst the course being terrible was the starter was letting 5-somes out which we completed a round of 9 holes in 3.5 hours do to cart path only and then following 5 players all over the course in front of us.

We have been in Myrtle Beach golfing for a month and wanted to meet a friend half way between MB and Hilton Head. We finally found a tee time on this course. Not only was the course in rough condition for the $100 green fees, the guy in the pro shop was not too friendly, they have no beverage cart and the pro shop was full if sewer gas. It really stunk. I would not be writing this review if the price was not so high, but geez.

So disappointing. Apparently a tee time here is more of a lottery ticket that MIGHT allow you to play golf.Had a 10:40 am tee time booked 2 weeks in advance. Show up to see 20+ people waiting on the first tee.Asked the pro shop if this was normal and the guy said they had a frost delay. Ok… but why are there at least 7 groups waiting? Shouldn’t everyone just be pushed back with the same separation?I asked what he expected the pace of play to be and was told “maybe 5 or 5:15… this is a tough course.” Absurd.Being a “tough course” isn’t code for “we sell way too many tee times.”Was told, “maybe try a weekday instead.” WOW.To his credit, the kid working the counter was nice about it and gave me a few free range tokens. But it’s quite clear this place doesn’t have to care about the experience. Too many people in Charleston + not nearly enough public golf means they’re the drug dealer of tee times, and they can control the supply however they want.If the course is selling even 5 more tee times a day than they really should be, that’s potentially an extra $2,000 in revenue so let the public deal with the fallout either way I guess.Reluctant to give a 1-star review, but what else can you do when you’ve got a tee time and show up to see the course is essentially unplayable?

This is a great course for players looking to avoid spending 20-30k on initiation fees. Fun course layout and the greens a well kept.

Challenging course if you're an average or worse golfer. It will make you pay for bad shots.

Great staff, incredible course, & one of the best experiences in Charleston. If you’re in Charleston and not playing here, you’re definitely missing out.

Course lacks management. 20 mins behind on the first teebox from overbooking. Throughout the whole round could see 2 groups ahead of us with no pace of play being set. Left after 13 holes when we passed the 4 hr mark. Round was going to be 6.5 hrs if we wanted to finish. Talked to clubhouse about partial refund and they gave us a course credit for the holes we didn’t play since no cash could be refunded. Guy at the clubhouse said there’s nothing he could do about the pace, that it was a regular Friday…. Despite hole #1 having a sign that says “4:30 pace”.After the experience, wouldn’t recommend this course if you’re in the Charleston area. We played Dunes West yesterday and it was amazing. 4 hr round and kept in beautiful shape. Go there to get the value for your money.

I came to play in this course while on vacation. We had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly hospitable and courteous.Ashley was super friendly, always smiling, and such a doll.We came for our first club while visiting Mount Pleasant, and after having a few unpleasant experiences at another golf club, we came back to play here twice. This place kept getting better and better every single time. The course was very well maintained, and they had a great selection of beers and products on the service cart.If we were to move down to SC, we would become club members. It even makes me wanna go back and play here again.Keep up the great hospitality, please.

Came up from Florida to play golf around Charleston and made a bad choice to play here. At the $100 per round price this is not worth it at all. Would be fine with a $50 per round fee. Pace was slow and course was in poor shape for the price.

Enjoyed my round at Charleston National. Course was in decent shape considering the rain they had just got. Pace of play could’ve been better. Fairways were in good shape. Greens were a little rough. A lot of ball marks that need to be repaired. Course is slightly overpriced but a fun place to play on vacation.

The course is in BAD condition. Greens were dried out and patchy, bumpy and slow, very unplayable. Tee boxes and fairways were OK. The layout gets freaky and not in a good way, many force carries over marshland hazards, not a playable course unless you have already played and know the layout well. Prepare to lose a lot of golf balls, even low handicappers. Views down the stretch are great and thats about the only positive I took from the round. Course is worth $35 at most for 18, charging $100 + is an absolute scam.

In decent condition probably in all reality about a 35$ green fee would be fair. There were no bev carts on the course at all which was a let down because it was a very hot day. Be prepared for a 5 hour round. Nice course just overpriced.

The course itself is fun, but I won't be going back. They're only concerned with taking your money and making excuses to get you out so they can take someone else's money. We were the second group out and waited less than 5 minutes for the group in front of us. By the 3rd or 4th hole, we didn't see anyone in front of OR behind us, but were told to skip a hole because we were 5 minutes behind pace (that short wait at the beginning?). That didn't make any sense sense since we were obviously not holding anyone up. We obliged thinking we would make the hole up later. We were told we couldn't, "that's the way it goes", and refused ANY sort of compensation. The ranger was riding us the entire time. Just pass on Charleston National and play Patriots Point; it's less of a headache, costs a little less, and the course is just as nice.
