Long wait

You can start signing in at 7, they claim to open at 730, but I’ve never seen them start calling people back before 745. If you show up at 730 you’re going to be number 30 in line. Really annoying how MUSC forces everyone to come here for labs.

Plenty of parking at this MUSC facility where wife has seen specialists that only have equipment in this location, it is worth the trip if the appointment is mid day so traffic on the speedway 26 is not an issue and we can knock a couple of errands while in pretty Mount P Doctors do a good job but the waiting time is a little over the usual but as a patient there is not much you can do. I was tempted to take more stars for the waiting because appointment was at 12 and she got here at 11:45 as she was told and it is 1:15 and she is still there, maybe the doctor is at lunch?

Clean facility, modern equipment and fantastic staff, especially Nanette in radiology!

I give it a two because it is clean. If a patient is walking in with someone else, it is more than likely because they have a disability that makes them not able to be alone. If your waiting room is full, they might not want to explain the condition in front of 25 people in the waiting room. Let two people go together if you at all care about others mental health!

Words can't describe how wonderful the phlebotomists at this lab are. Last week I went in for a blood draw first thing in the morning & warned the tech working with me that I have a history of fainting. She got me an ice pack to hold on my neck for the procedure. There were quite a few vials so my draw lasted a bit longer than usual but was nearly painless and once it was over I thought "great, that wasn't bad" and went to get up and leave. As soon as that thought crossed my brain, the fainting feeling started and everything around me started going black. Before I knew it, this tech had me leaned over in my chair and was legit cradling my head in her arms with two more ice packs on my forehead and neck. Through the fog I heard her ask the other tech to go get my husband from the waiting area and have him drive around back so I wouldn't have to walk all the way through the building. Meanwhile this poor woman was still working with all the ice packs imaginable to keep me conscious. Finally she helped me stand up - I literally sweat all over her chair during this whole ordeal which she had to clean up - and she and my husband helped me walk at a snail's pace to the car. She helped me in the car and even buckled my seatbelt for me lol. Seriously cannot give these folks enough props. My husband is pretty great too, but unfortunately probably won't be around if one of y'all ever faints. You'll be in great hands though with these phlebotomists!

I came here for my first COVID-19 vaccine, and MUSC has the process down. Signs tell you where to go, and the desk is staffed that you don't have to wait to check in. I arrived to my 2:40 PM appointment about five minutes early. As soon as I checked in at the desk, the receptionist directed me into an exam room to get my shot. The nurse, Norine, was upbeat and positive. She asked a few questions- the usual consent to receive the vaccine, and that I had not tested positive for COVID recently or received antibody treatments. Norine said she'd been giving COVID-19 vaccines every day since February, and she was a pro. I barely felt the needle. My second appointment is in three weeks, as I got the Pfizer vaccine. I waited for 15 minutes before leaving, which is standard for COVID-19 shots. There are no magazines in the waiting room, so if you don't want to be on your phone, take a magazine or book. Parking is free in the large lot, and I only spent about 20 minutes total (shot + wait) here. The one side effect I experienced was soreness at the injection site, for about a day. The only thing that could've improved my experience would be a fun band-aid or a sticker, but alas, I got a shot of hope for returning to normal in the future.

Neurology appointment with Dr. John Edwards. A fantastic neurologist that is not only extremely knowledgeable but has pleasant bedside manner as well. Dr. Edwards always has ideas and suggestions. Although he is out of network and 120 miles from us he is absolutely worth the extra effort.

Dont show up between 7:00 to 8:00 because even though they open at 730 they will make everyone wait till 8 am. So dont think your saving time and getting to your job on time by arriving early.

Top notch medical center. I've been seeing Dr Woolf for many years now. Before I started seeing him my athletic son was seeing him. I also see Dr Darr for neck injections to assist with pain from injuries related to a car accident almost 6 years ago. Make note.... get there in plenty of time because parking is a definite issue !!

This review is for the lab. I'm sorry to say that the phlebotomist are rude and incompetent. I had 8 vials if blood drawn and less than a week later was told they didn't do the correct tests so I had to return and get 8 more drawn. Also they get angry when you ask them to open the needle packs so you can be ensured the needle is new and unused instead of using a needle already opened and on the counter. I've never been to a lab where the needle is already out of the package. It's disconcerting.

The physicians and staff I have dealt with in the orthopedic department at MUSC East Cooper have been top notch in every way. Dr. Christopher Gross is phenomenal! He has one of the BEST physician-patient bedside manners I have experienced. Very conversational with you and explains everything in detail about your prognosis, x-rays, and his recommendations regarding options. Dr. Gross is my number one surgeon of the ones I have consulted with for my needed hip and foot surgeries. Each time I have visited this facility, the wait times are very short and reasonable, all staff are most pleasant and "patient friendly." This medical facility is new, modern, and conveniently/centrally located in Mt. Pleasant. My hubby has had good experiences with the dermatology clinic. And our friend has also given a thumbs up for his treatment at the eye clinic and rheumatology services here. Parking is very convenient, and the waiting rooms are clean, sleekly designed, and very comfortable in this beautifully designed building! Centrally located in Mt. Pleasant so you can get the same great medical care from MUSC without driving to downtown Charleston and dealing with the traffic and parking nightmares. :)
