Ingles needs to do a better job of vetting their employee pool to ensure they are customer service friendly and not showing deliberate discriminating mannerisms.
I visited the store today to purchase one item. I went to a line where there was one customer being given top notch service, as it seems he had no money on his card and the cashier came around to his side to assist him, when the card wouldn't work, he proceeded to throw money at her on the counter to pay for his items. She still engaged with a smile and was very pleasant with him. Note, they both were caucasian. When I approached, she made no eye contact, and said, "Do you have an Ingles card?" Still not making any eye contact.
I said, "I do."
I watched her bag my item, and threw it over the belt. I decided at that moment, I will not purchase from a place where the disrespect is blatant. The inability to utter "How are you today? Or Did you find what you're looking for?" , wasn't an option in her mind. It was so easy for this cashier to be nasty and hateful within a blink of an eye.
I let her know I didn't want the item and being hateful and negative wasn't what I would accept while spending my money at this store. And that I can go to Publix, which is next door.
Mind you, I went immediately to Publix and spent a few more cents on the same item, but was more than willing for the customer service experience. I was met with asking how I was doing while waiting on the transaction to be complete before I was next. I was given information about options for shopping and thanked for shopping. Totally different experience and Publix sits beside Ingles. I will also communicate with management about the experience. Hopefully it won't fall on deaf ears because management is part of the problem. Do better Ingles. With Publix next door and Starbucks being right down the road in Target and free standing, even with all of the upgrades you're doing, if you don't have the right staff positioned to make the shopping experience pleasant, it's a waste of money and time.
I gave this one star for being close to my house but so is Publix.

What is going on at Ingles, Inman....They are doing construction directly next to open food buffet with no barrier??? Also while I was there the workers were working directly over the fruits and vegetables in lift??? I understand that you are under construction, however what about food safety???

I’m disappointed that I was headed in a direction with my buggy before a young lady with long brown wavy hair started the opposite direction with her own buggy. She then looked at me as if I should move and we stood there for the longest until I moved the slightest bit for her to get through a small space between me and the shelf instead of just going around me. Really ? Then it turned out she was actually a mgr. I saw her take a key and go into the office up top. way to go customer service skills. There’s so much I like about this store, but that killed it for me this morning.

It didn't have the kind of apples I was looking for (Cosmic Crisp), but the alternative (Wild Twist) turned out to be tasty, too

Having worked for Ingle's Markets when I was a teenager, meeting the store manager one night reminded me of my manager back in the 90's...just a super nice and professional man that I can tell instills the values that the Ingle Family started all those years ago. The pharmacy staff are hard-working and friendly, but have let me down a time or two when telling me a prescription will be ready, only to drive all the way up there and be told they cannot fill it for another several days. The cashiers and support staff or, "bag boys" as I was called almost three decades ago, are very helpful and personable...I can tell they hire quality candidates. The selection of products is great as I have found several items that I had been looking for that WalMart did not carry. The doughnuts are DE-LISH-OUS! All in all I highly recommend shopping here for your groceries/medications because here you actually get SERVICE unlike the big box mega corporation down the road! 9 out of 10!

While checking out, another bagger came over and started showing my bagger pictures on his phone. I had to finish to put my own groceries away since they felt goofing off was more important. I made a comment how rude and unprofessional it was and the guy started mocking me. I went and told the manager and he seemed like he could care less. When I went to leave the bagger started telling me he could do whatever he wanted and wouldnt be fired and I should just leave. I spoke to the manager again and again he could care less.
Rudest employees ever.

Sorely disappointed with the Spice Section.
New to Ingles and first time experiencing a spice section that wasn't in ABC order. It was so difficult to find the spice I needed. Standing for a long time reading all the labels to find the one I wanted, which I could only find 1 option, is difficult. And it was annoying enough for me to try another store. Disappointed as this store is very convenient for me

I recently visited the store and had an interesting experience. While checking out, I noticed another bagger engaging with my bagger, sharing some pictures on his phone. Though this did cause a slight delay, I decided to take the initiative and pack my own groceries. When I mentioned the situation to the staff, they handled it in their own unique way. It's clear the team has a close-knit, relaxed atmosphere. I brought this to the manager's attention, and he addressed my concerns in a manner consistent with their laid-back approach. Overall, the environment is very casual, which might appeal to those who prefer a more easy-going shopping experience. There was a rude customer behind me seemed like a male karen. He went to the manager multiple times while I shared funny stories with the employees. The manager was very nice and cool.
