I recently took my vehicle to Island Motors because the AC went out in my vehicle on my drive down to HHI from Ohio. Although Robert was quick to make an appt and give an estimate, his estimate was simply price gouging in an attempt to take advantage of somebody on vacation. The estimate was just under $2400. (Personal check or cash only.) I picked up my vehicle and took it to Station One. The AC (compressor, etc) was fixed quickly with a cost under $1300.

My back window fell down on my car while I was on vacation at Hilton Head. I looked at reviews and prices to figure out where I would not get ripped off. I was very hesitant to take my car to a place so close to vacation areas. After calling and speaking to the owner, I felt more comfortable with his diagnosis and repair options. I took the car over for the window regulator I probably needed. After getting there, I was noticing his Honda truck he drove up in from after his lunch break and in a casual conversation I mentioned how much I loved my Honda pilot. It's a 2007 but I do love my car. He said at the time the only thing you really need to watch out for is the timing belt. He wasn't trying to get business nor did he try to sell me a timing belt. He had no idea it had never been replaced. I was going to be on the island for 5 more days and the car was already in the shop. I decided to call and see if he would be able to change the timing belt while I was there. He advised that it was just something to watch but if it broke my car would be messed up. I typically only do oil changes and routine maintenance but I plan on keeping this car for a while. I love the square shape and all the new cars are roundish. I can't see out the back window for the newer models. Well, long story short, I would highly recommend him and the service I received. The window regulator I initially went for was repaired properly and within the price range I had already researched. He seems to be a car lover because he had a beautiful Mustang in his garage. He seems like a regular guy trying to make a regular living with car stuff he likes to do. As mentioned before, he does not take credit cards. We ended up going to several bankers to get the money needed because I didn't have a check with me. If I had a problem with my car while on vacation at Hilton Head again, I would not hesitate to contact him. He also kept the parts he removed so I could see what was replaced.

Took my car here for an oil change. Super easy to make an appointment and check my car in. Car was ready quickly. My mistake was that he does not accept credit cards. The owner was gracious enough for me to take the car home and return later with a check. Will be back!Service: Oil change

Robert is professional and charges fair labor rates. I stopped by his shop on a Tuesday morning with a leaking radiator. He told me that he couldn’t fit me in until Thursday morning. I was able to get by adding coolant to my vehicle until he made the repair. I dropped the vehicle off on Thursday morning and picked it up later that afternoon complete with a new radiator. We make a yearly trip to HHI and I am thankful that I now know a mechanic on the island that I can trust.

If I could give them 0 stars that would equate to the service I received. I was headed back home and noted a nail in my tire that needed to be removed and tire plugged. I went into the shop ( about 30 minutes after they opened) to ask if he could help me. The immediate answer was No. While I typically don't use racism as an excuse for poor customer service, I am certain that this was the case here

Robert is completely honest and honorable. Reasonably priced, more likely to set a low expectation for you and exceed it than the other way around. While visiting us our son had a catastrophic failure in his cooling system. Robert diagnosed it, fixed it and returned it to us better than promised. He doesn't take credit cards but will take a check. Can't recommend him highly enough.

While vacationing at HHI, I noticed a nail in a tire on our van. I was nervous I'd pay a premium once any mechanic saw I had out of state license plates. After calling several places, I was able to get my tire repaired that afternoon at Island Motors. I was greeted by Robert and he was able to fix the tire quickly. I feel like I paid a very reasonable price for the quick repair. If you're from out of state, don't look any further and take your vehicle here.
