I was just informed by South State Bank that there’s been a data breach and that my Social Security number, account number, and other identifying information was accessed by cyber criminals. This is not so awful in this day and age given that Equifax has already exposed 145 million of us to cyber criminals; nevertheless, South State Bank has failed in the most basic of ways — failing to protect customers personal financial and information, earning them a one star review.In all fairness, I must say that they offered me “compensation“ in the way of one year of identity theft protection which is worth about $4.99 a month retail, which is hardly compensation given a data breach of this nature.

This bank is absolutely atrocious. The 5 star reviews are clearly employees padding their reputation. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM; $80 for checks, $7.50 per statement if you need historical data (regardless if it's emailed or printed), new fees added without the consent of the account owner. The customer service is awful, and the staff is indifferent to the needs of the client. They clearly built their business model around gouging those who bank with them. Pinnacle Bank is far superior, we moved all our accounts to them, no charge for any of the above services and always willing to work with you on your personal and business needs. Unbelievable. I don't usually write reviews, but I write this to help others avoid this pain.

Worst bank ever. I would never bank here. Every time I come to make a deposit for my bosses I wait and wait and wait. This time it’s been 8 minutes and the girl is chatting with the guy in front of me. Shawde (spelling?) is the name of the rude lady here at the drive thru. Ridiculous! Oh and there are FOUR people inside… at this window… seriously?

Tellers are nice and professional, but it's 2021. There's no excuse for having an ATM you cannot deposit cash or checks at. Not only that, there's a sign on the machine that advises you to use the ATM at the Pelham branch to make deposits. You mean the branch that's 20 minutes away? Huh?

Absolutely outstanding service no matter when I go from kind, courteous employees who know their job. Had the pleasure of being helped by Erick Marin who made me feel welcomed beyond what could ever be expected. Had such a great experience I emailed customer service to talk about how wonderful this branch is.

The employees are wonderful including branch managers.( Pelham Rd) They give speedy service and are very friendly and I always have someone greet me with a warm greeting upon going in or at the drive through. If there are any issues with banking they fix it very quickly and are prompt. Pelham Rd and Antrium Dr are phenomenal. And the online banking support are great as well.
