They have done 2 total knee replacements on me and a left hip. With each one I have full mobility and 20 plus years later still do! I highly recommend Dr.Brian Burnikel and his bed side manners .

As a 71-year-old Retired physician, I know what good care should be. I have never met so many people who were all there to help me in my time of need. The staff at Stedman – Hawkins Has been superb in every way.
There was not a single individual who was not willing to give 100% of their time effort and compassion to me. They made a seemingly impossible surgical procedure, very tolerable.
I regret that I did not write the names of all the individuals who contributed to my care.
Coming to mind are Elisabeth, Randi, Brandi, Stacee, Zoey, and I’m sorry to Forget the names, but the faces I will never forget. All of these people and more deserve thousands of kudos for their exemplary work, caring, compassion, and attention that they paid to a person they have never met. I thanked him all very much and wish them all, good Health, happiness, contentment, and the knowledge that they have contributed to the recuperation of a very grateful patient.
Dr Brian Burnikel, Who himself leads the pack and has been reviewed elsewhere, is fortunate to have this wonderful support for His patients!
To all, from the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful to have met each and everyone of you. Much gratitude always! May the Almighty support you and be with you always.

If you want to go to a hospital where your wellbeing is a priority, go somewhere else. My husband had surgery on Monday and has not been able to get ahold of the doctor since. We had some concerns from the surgery and, after leaving countless voicemails, messages on the patient portal, and even going to the office in person, we have yet to receive any contact back from Dr. Pill or his medical assistant. If you want to go to an efficient hospital where your time is valued, go somewhere else. I received a called immediately after the surgery to tell me that he was finished, everything went well, and that my husband should be ready to go in a half hour. We had to wait after the surgery for the doctors note (that should have been ready) and we had to wait for them to clean the hardware from the surgery (something the doctor told me would take 30 minutes). If you want to go to a hospital that cares about its patients, go somewhere else. They moved my husband from a bed into a chair an hour before being discharged (as if they wanted to start cleaning and setting up for the next day) and they sent us home without a sling (something that was specifically mentioned in his post-op paperwork).
Even after calling/messaging countless times about the surgery (specifically about the sling and ways to better manage his pain), we have been waiting for a call back for almost 4 days. We received a call from the secretary on Wednesday and were told that the doctor would call us, which has yet to happen. After a couple days of waiting, we went into the hospital to try to speak to Dr. Pill in person, but were told that he was gone for the day and nobody was willing to give us the information of a superior to escalate our concerns. We are now four days post-op and have received 0 communication. This is negligent and borderline malpractice. This hospital wants your money, but they could care less about your wellbeing. I strongly urge you to go elsewhere.

I've been a patient with Steadman Hawkins for over a decade and previously I would say my experience has been better than average. However, after a recent car accident I was referred to Blue ridge orthopedics. My experience there was not one that I was comfortable with so I called Steadman Hawkins asking for a second opinion and was told they would call me back. After 2 days of waiting I received a call stating that they reviewed my X-rays in My Chart (without my consent) and the SH doctors agree with the Blue Ridge Drs notes from the appointment. My concern, which was communicated was something could have been missed. No MRI was done and 2 weeks later I'm more uncomfortable than before. I tried contacting Blue Ridge orthopedics five times to ask additional treatment questions and they refuse to call me back. I called Steadman Hawkins a second time to let them know I need help and they told me to go back to Blue Ridge or to the ER! I feel as though something may have been missed but they would rather push patients who are in pain away then provide satisfaction and understanding especially to someone that's been with them for over a decade. After an extremely traumatic car accident involving children, I'm not only left with a broken foot but no competent doctors willing to follow through or provide a second opinion. I absolutely will never bring my family to this practice or Blue Ridge in the future.

I have to say that Dr. James Cameron is the BEST I have ever seen. My hip replacement was as close to pain free as it gets. The pain that I felt was more from the incision. I actually took my trash to the street the next morning (knowing I was not suppose to). I barely used the walker and used the cane a couple of times. I graduated Physical Therapy after 3 visits. Thank you Steadman Hawkins. I'm actually looking forward to the other hip and both knees.

Nightmare telephone reception. Refused to schedule new patient appointment unless I provided the name of the doctor who did my dislocated knee surgery THIRTY SIX YEARS AGO when I was just a kid! How am I suppose to know that? It was in another state in the 80s! The doc is probably dead by now anyway! Crazy. Going to Carolina Orthopedics instead. Far more professional and pleasant.

I fought for 7 years because I had shoulder pain. Then, I fought 5 years for my hip pain. Dr. Cassas referred me to surgeons and it turns out with my shoulder, I had a labrum, bicep and rotator cuff tear that I had been living with. I was so happy to be heard. With my hip, my glute med tendon was partially torn, but they found that it was fully detached, had a labrum tear and an impingement. I was in pain, but I didn't know what it was because no one listened. They did. I'm forever thankful.

I had both hips replaced by Dr. Brayton Shirley. I had gone through years of pain and misdiagnosis by other supposed orthopedic specialists only to be sent away with no help. They all acted as though I was drug seeking. But Dr. Shirley actually took the time to listen to me as to how the injury occurred. He instructed his X-ray tech to shoot the area from a different angle rather than the regular standard angle and - Voila! There it was! My femur had a fracture across the head. It had been so long between the initial accident and the findings, that the other hip had sustained significant damage because of the way I had been walking. Dr. Shirley did the surgeries on both of my hips two years apart and I will be forever thankful to him for that.
