Sneaky and deceptive billing practices. Watch your billing. They will try and charge your card you have on file after you've made a full payment. Even though the bill is not due and then have the audacity to FORCE YOU TO HAVE AUTO PAY. THAT'S WHY THE CARD I HAVE ON FILE HAS A ZERO BALANCE AND NO FUNDS ARE DEPOSITED INTO THAT ACCOUNT. I DECIDE WHEN TO PAY ... NOT ADT...LAST TIME I CHECKED THE MONEY BELONGS TO ME .NOT ADT. I ALWAYS PAY IN FULL AND A MONTH IN ADVANCE. ADT NEEDS TO BE ASHAMED.

Very untrusted install technician. I would think that you should be able to trust members of your security company!!

We just moved and have gotten solicitors from ADT at our home twice in the past week. Once in the chaos of moving in and again on a weekday night AT 9PM. who in their right mind tries to sell someone services at 9pm a night. It's harassment. Would never use this company.

They outsourced their support six months ago. We had them 15 years and when it went haywire Sunday we had to deal with the chirping and alerts all night bc the tech couldn't speak or understand English and kept placing us on 30 to 40 minute holds to avoid conversing. I contacted during business hours and the day shift could care less. Worst experience with alarm company ever!

In December 2022, I became a first time home buyer. I wanted to have a home security system with cameras outside and a keyless door entry keypad installed. I called in and spoke with a representative, with whom I thought I was giving him my "order" for the items I needed/wanted installed. I asked about the contract and the early termination fees. He told me was what included as far as warranty etc and what my discounts were as it pertains to the camera systems, door alarms, and keyless entry door pad. I THOUGHT THAT I WAS PLACING MY ORDER! The rep advised me that when the technician came to install, that he would give me the final cost for the extra upfront cost for the camera and keyless entry door pad after he sees my home. I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE GUY COMING OUT WAS A SALESPERSON....and....the technician. With that being said, he installed window alarms on every single window, smoke detectors in every single room, motion detectors, and some other thing in the hallway. He told me how the window alarms also will sound if someone taps on them, and I was amazed at the type of products they were installing. During all of this, as a first time homebuyer and first time alarm system purchase, I thought that these things are standard. The SALESPERSON/technician NEVER ONCE TOLD ME that all of these things were at an EXTRA charge, as in OPTIONAL. At the end of the install, he handed me his PHONE to sign in some places, but NEVER went over total pricing of anything. He only said that this comes to $89/month and that he wasn't charging me for anything upfront. Now, when I called the order in, I was told $59/month. So I'm assuming that the increase was because he was putting the extra camera and keyless door pad in with my monthly ADT monitoring charge. Before I signed one screen on his phone, he did tell me that it was a credit check. Now I knew from my initial call that it was a 3 year contract with 70% early termination fee, so I assumed that this was just for the sake of there being a contract, which I am ok with. With me just purchasing the home, I'm also assuming that is why I got denied under my social. He simply asked if there was someone who would put it in their name. I said sure, maybe my dad. I called him and with the technician standing beside me, he heard me call my dad and ask him if he would sign for the system for the contract. At this point, I am not aware that all of this EXTRA stuff he installed has come to the sum of over $5300 and the credit check is for this at $89/month. So as he listened to me simply tell my father that he's agreeing to the credit check for the contract, he never corrects me to make sure that I'm informing my dad of what the credit check is actually for. Long story short, my dad receives the call and agrees to "whatever" they told him ...and of course they have it all recorded and transcribed, so that legally covers them and keeps me/my dad on the hook for $5300 in alarm equipment that wasn't even needed nor asked for. I asked all of the questions I knew to ask. As they say, you don't know what to ask, if you don't know about the product or service. You simply TRUST that people will be honest and transparent, especially when there are contracts involved with items that can't be removed without penalty, and when they see that you don't know anything about something you are purchasing, and when they are getting someone else to put the name on the dotted line. You would like to think that they wouldn't take advantage of a weakness. I, of course, called in as soon as my dad received the bill and a credit card from Synchrony Bank for the $5300 loan 2 weeks after the install and I was advised that there was nothing that could be done since the buyers remorse period was only 3 days.... Which I was told nothing about, but wouldn't have mattered because I wouldn't have known about the extra charges until the bill came anyway. I called in as soon as my dad received a statement 2 weeks after install for the $5300 loan

Terrible product it never works when you need it and troubleshooting is a pain. They make you waste time in fixing the system and charge you to fix a service you are paying for.

I just found out all of the sensors which were supposed to be hardwired are wireless sensors. They literally installed wireless sensors over the top of where the wires are coming out of the wall! That is not what I bought, because it’s not what we talked about. After all the effort to have the pre-wire, avoid replacing batteries, etc., I was shocked to find this out. I found this out because batteries (which I’m not expecting to have) in the sensors have been going bad and setting off the system at 3 am. I was told I was getting a hard-wired system, and got scammed!

In April 2001, a representative from ADT out of the Greenville South Carolina office sold us three business camera systems which she touted the 6 month satisfaction guarantee. The three systems were installed on April 22, 2021 at a cost of $3196. When the technicians were installing the cameras in the office, I told them that the dome cameras do not have good resolution and will not work at night. I was told that if we're not satisfied, they will come back out and change them out. So they installed all three systems with these garbage cameras. I already knew they don't work at night because we have them at our home in Florida. Ironically we had an incident in front of the office at night and of course the sheriff could not identify the perpetrator because of the poor resolution. So hence started the communication in May with the Greenville office. I went back-and-forth and back-and-forth to no avail. I printed off all of the text communications from May 11, 2021 until July 28, 2021 which are attached to this letter. They refused to come out and do anything with the cameras. Their excuse one time was it was raining however they never called to reschedule the appointment. Someone called me and said that for another $250 per camera that they would install the new cameras to see if they would work. My answer was I'm not paying another $3000 to see if a system may work when I had a 6 month satisfaction guarantee and I had told them that the dome cameras would not work when they were installing them. They actually admitted that they had had problems with the dome cameras. So they admitted that but still installed them anyway. They never came back out to fix anything and I never got any resolution. I went through Anja at the loyalty department and got nowhere. I had been requesting for them to come and take the systems out for months however they refused to do so. I told them a few weeks ago that the business was being sold on April 20, 2022 which it did and that they needed to come get the three systems out. There was an appointment scheduled for Monday, April 11 between 8-5. I asked them to call me prior to the appointment date to narrow the timeframe down. The man left me a voicemail on the 11th claiming he had called my managers numbers and no one was around which was completely false because they had no missed calls or voicemails from ADT. We rescheduled the appointment for Tuesday, April 19 the day before closing between 1 and 5. A gentleman called me around 1 and said that he could not take the systems out because they were still under contract. So I called customer service and had them notate the account that the business was sold and ADT refused to come and get the cameras out like I had been requesting for months and that I am not going to be responsible for the condition of the equipment from the new owner removing the cameras as well as if they can be located if need be.

The Security Company That Was Supposed to Keep Me Safe Pretty Much Robbed Me I put in a work order for $600. While I was at work, the tech got my family member, who let him in, to install additional equipment. My bill was $1,400. Numerous calls, hours on the phone...only led to them threatening to charge me over $2,000 for a contract I didn't even sign. They also billed me for two addresses instead of one because they failed to transfer the service.

Two people Stopped by my house claiming they’re from adt to come do an “assessment”. Tried to sell their service to me and claimed they weren’t sales techs, just regional managers (eye roll). Didn’t leave a business card or anything in the end told me to call the 1-800 number. How do I know if they’re even real employees and not some Intruders coming to check out everything I have. Very ironic from a security company to have this approach. So unprofessional. I already get so much mail from adt to sign up with them they shouldn’t bother sending people out. It’s a turn off to come without an appointment and now I definitely won’t be going with them.

I used ADT for several years, and I was satisfied with their service. I've gotten to a point where I want to set up my own system, and I have tried to cancel the service several times. I un-enrolled from their automatic payments and removed my credit card information from their website. (Now when I go to manage my account I do not have the option of removing my credit card information.) They still charged my card in the last billing cycle. I did try to get an account representative on the line several times, I was always transferred to another department after the first person answered. Then I would wait, and wait, and wait.... I was finally able to talk to an account representative to cancel the service. When I told him I wanted to cancel because of cost, he said we could negotiate a better price. If you don't pay attention to the emails and bills, they incrementally increase the charges every year. You can get that price dropped back down if you call and haggle over it. If that is something you enjoy, then I guess it is ok. That is nuts to me. They are hoping nobody notices the increases. From that standpoint, they do not take care of their customers. They will nickel and dime you as much as you let them. I was fooled for many years... don't be like me.
