I visited here from out of town. I was a little nervous at first, but was told I could go right through and see all the animals. The dogs are on one side; the cats on the other. There's a screened in room for the cats that's amazing! Thank you so much!

I am thinking of giving up on adopting any animals from this animal shelter! Within the past 3 years, I've tried adopting a cat and then tried again a year later for a dog. I filled out and submitted the request online multiple times, as well as the paper version of the adoption application physically and in person. My daughter and I visited the shelter many times prior and again after we had patiently waited for ten business days, as instructed, in hopes that someone would call us to pick up our new addition to the family. However, upon asking about the status of the adoption process, the clerk at the front desk wasn't capable of finding any one of my previous application submissions, and I have completed them both, an official and virtual form.I have left this place with my kid crying and me frustrated almost every time we have been to visit. It is of NO surprise to us that the county shelter currently has such an abundance of homeless animals in supply but is unable to make any room for any newcomers despite all adoption fees being wavered. You can even see for yourself that there are stray and feral hounds roaming the grounds of our animal shelter, which makes our town seem completely incompetent! There are always new arrivals, but never any adoptions. During my many visits, I have yet to notice anyone leaving the building with a new adoption... Want to prove me wrong and I will change this review, apologize, and work for a year free of charge if you can simply post some pictures of families actually adopting a rescue from our local animal shelter! I decided to adopt from other private parties online as opposed to dealing with unnecessary stress and anxiety that the shelter has caused us all. DM me for any details on where to actually adopt a pet.For anyone who reads this and that works here, I'm still waiting to adopt Merlin, that is, if he is still a kitten!!

The Florence Humane Society is of no help I need to surrender my dog and I would like to surrender him to a no kill shelter and they just say we're full and does not offer any other options other than a kill shelter. He is a fully trained house dog with all of his Vet records he would make someone a really good companion and I hate that I can no longer have him that why I'm just trying to rehome him

These people do a hard job and right now they are over capacity on some beautiful adoptable animals. Took them some blankets, toys and food when my senior dog passed and they weee so grateful for the donations and expressed their condolences on our family’s loss. Don’t buy a pet, please adopt one from here!

They are lucky I couldn't give half of the stars. I love dogs. If I had a dog, I would never take them there. The dogs there are unfeed. I saw two brother dogs eating the wall panel. I never saw those brother dogs again, and a metal sheet panel covered the eat wall. I walked in the back. One dog looked like they passed away in the kennel. The staff is horrible.

There is an online application you have to fill out prior to adoption, but I will say we heard back about our application the next day. Within 24 hours we brought our new kitty home. Of course I don't know that every application will be that quick, but we were very satisfied with how speedy our experience was. Unfortunately, this is a shelter we're I'm sure everyone is struggling and trying their best to help all of the rescues so I can't say I was particularly impressed about the staff up front or the cleanliness of the place, but again adopting instead of buying would be a good way to solve some of that burden.

Visited this animal shelter looking for a pet to adopt and it was the worst experience of my life. Some of the dogs were covered in blood and others were in cages with animal feces. The dogs looked malnutrition. Very sad. The staff was very rude, unengaged and simply did not care about the dogs at all. The attendant said she was about to get off and if I wanted to see a ? I would be on my own. This place is inhumane and should be closed. Sad situation here.

Please ADOPT and realize a pet is a commitment. They require WORK (some cats do not ~ LOL). This facility is doing the best they can to service the Florence, SC area. Please be a responsible pet owner - have your pets spayed or neutered.

I just got off the phone I usually wouldn’t make reviews but OML SO EXTREMELY RUDE. Their phone was glitching or something but they sounded like a robot and far away very hard to hear I mentioned it once then it sounded better but then went right back to the same thing and I mentioned it again she then says “ it’s probably your but. “ then I can hear her putting the phone down to hang it up so I hang up first that is so disrespectful language from a place that supposedly is giving and loving
