Incredibly well-researched and educational museum. The number of artifacts they have in here is truly impressive as is work done to preserve and protect the items. Historical timelines and context are given throughout. As we all know, the history of Edisto island, of the state of South Carolina, of the entire Southeast from the perspective of a white, Southern-raised visitor is incredibly sobering. I can't come up with a word that truly describes it. Appalling? Sickening? Horrific? But on the other side, the resilience, the bravery, the ingenuity, the *mercy* of Black communities both past and present is incredible to behold. All visitors to Edisto should visit this museum and set aside a good hour to take it all in.

What a gem! We are not local but have been visiting Edisto for many years. I love learning about the history of the island and the museum is full of interesting information, displays, and artifacts. I'm thankful for the efforts of those who work to preserve the history of Edisto and share it with future generations. The gift shop is small but has some cool items. Definitely worth a visit!

A neat little museum on Edisto. Admission is only $8 for adults and $5 for children. A lot of information about Edisto Island and slavery pre-civil war and after.

This is a hidden gem on the island. Staff is so friendly and even my kids loved it. They had a scavenger hunt for the kids to complete and they each got a fossil for completing it. The history and artifacts on display is fascinating. They also have beautiful artwork on display with prints for sale. It's pretty small but worth the trip. They even have a little free library and bench under a gorgeous tree to relax.

What a great find for a rainy day! They have a deep collection of artifacts from multiple eras in Edisto history, and the docents are super kind & knowledgeable. It also had a surprisingly unique & fun gift shop!

Stopped to visit but did not want to spend $8 per person. Gift shop was nice though. Would have paid $6 though. Maybe I’m too cheap because I would have liked to learn more about the area’s history.

This is a nice place to stop on the way to Edisto Beach. I gladly paid $8. to a non profit for the interesting displays, the friendly guide and great gift shop. And cry me a river, anti-maskers.

The staff was extremely friendly. The museum, though small, was very interesting. The gift shop is excellent. Take $$$ or your charge card.?

Didn't go in. Masks are required for all visitors, even though I am vaccinated. I am not paying $8.00 to walk around a small museum, if I have to wear a mask.
