WORSTTTTT “student living” complex ever!!! THIS IS NOT A HOME FOR STUDENTS! They have no cameras for all of the incidents that occur, gates are NEVER locked for residents to feel safe, & housing office only cares about money and not residents health or safety! Not to mention , unlike every other student living .. there aren’t any programs to help out a busy/working college student.I’d rather stay at THE ROWAN !!

Literally do not live here. My experience at Redpoint has been absolutely terrifying they do not have working gates there is always shootings at the Rowan which is right next door and today we had a crazy guy run in to someone’s apartment saying someone was Chasing after him with a gun

I’ve lived here for multiple years while finishing my undergrad and grad school degrees. Seriously, please do not live here. Maintenance is never timely with repairs and requests, management is entirely incompetent and not even qualified to do their jobs, and the internet provided by Single Digits is unreliable and it’s impossible to contact support. The gates have not worked consistently for THREE YEARS and this place is advertised as a “gated community”. There’s shootings every other week. Over the summer my HVAC unit started to flood my unit while it was running and I was without cool air in the blazing heat of South Carolina for three weeks. I was never offered a unit transfer or even a simple window AC unit until they could fix the problem. The fix was as simple as unclogging a drain which only took 20 minutes after constantly going back and forth with the ever incompetent management and maintenance teams. If you value your safety as a person, let alone someone who PAYS TO LIVE HERE, do not move in to this apartment complex. The people who work here, especially the general manager, are by far the most irresponsible and sketchy people I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. There’s dozens of other places to live in this city that would be more cost effective and less likely to add on more stress to a college student. I regret ever signing a least at this place and I hope this is a sufficient warning for anyone who may be looking to move in here.

I became physically ill from living here in because of the poor condition of the apartments. I was on steroids and other medications to live here. My doctor wrote notes to the apartment to change my carpet as she felt that I was having severe allergic reactions. I had other symptoms like swollen fingers, reoccurring ear infections and my roomate also had some of the same symptoms. I had to stay with friends and family to be able to breathe. I immediately was able to get off of steroids and other allergy medications when I moved. I was rushed to the hospital due to allergy complications after about 2 months of living here. I had no allergy complications prior to living here.Besides the overall poor condition of the apartment they would charge my roommates and I with bogus fees and couldn’t explain why. If I tried to reach out to the office they wouldn’t be available. Was offered a transfer, but nothing was offered to pay for resulting medical bills and emergency room visits from mold causing severe allergic reaction.

I would not recommend living here. My first experience with this place was that before I moved in, there were fleas all over the carpet. They did not even replace the carpet until a few days after my move in date so I did not have a place to stay. After that, I had my own smaller issues with the maintenance crew but the biggest problem I had was that there was a shooting right outside my apartment and one of the stray bullets went through my apartment. The apartment complex and area are very unsafe overall. My friends who stayed there had to pay to leave the lease for next year even though a bullet had gone through our apartment.

This place doesn’t deserve the one star that I have to give. My mother died 3 days before move in on the 18th. I spent the next 17 days going back and forth with Redpoint trying to cancel my lease or for them to find another occupant. While I was gone the other roommate took over both rooms and apartment so I’m stuck with a lease and couldn’t move back if I wanted to. After almost 2 months of paying rent for somewhere I can’t stay now they still won’t cancel it. There are hundreds of posts up to sublease her and there’s a reason why!

Anyone who loves this place is crazy. This is the WORST apartment complex in Columbia. Even the mills tops this place. We drive the extra miles for what? A million fees that don’t make sense. The shuttle is always broken or not on time. This apartment complex causes all of the students who don’t have cars so much stress. The maintenance team is a whole bunch of frat dudes who don’t know what they’re doing, or someone who takes a smoke break on your porch. Also- if you have a safety hazard or appliance emergency- they also don’t care. You can put in a work request- but trust me they won’t come for atleast a week and a half- and sometimes they’ll just look at it, check it off, and walk away. No attention to detail or attention to care about us. Do they think we don’t notice when they “say” they’ve been there and nothing has changed? If they don’t let you move in early- guess what? It’s not because they’re preparing your apartment, it’s because they’re trying to scam you up to 500$ for early move in fees. Oh wait. But you have to still pay the WHOLE MONTHS RENT for august. And only get to live there for one week of august. They just want your money- they don’t care about you. And once you move in- just expect it to be NOT move in ready. Everything will need maintenance, things will need replacing. What do they do in the month they have between full move out and move in, I’m not sure, but it’s definitely not making the students and their move in a priority. They tell us we can’t move in early because they’re fixing things, but when we move in- literally the carpet, beds, dish washer, washing machine, and dryer, needed to be fixed. I have to live here for a whole year and I wished I made a better decision. I really hope the landlord or manager of Redpoint sees this, because I speak for the people. We all feel this way. BE BETTER. It doesn’t take much. We just want to be made a priority. This complex makes us more stressed out than we already are.

I have never left a review anywhere before, but I feel like I need to warn potential residents so that they do not make the same mistake that I did. Do NOT live here. Shootings, break-ins, and other suspicious activity are all common here. You cannot even put up a ring camera/doorbell because it will be stolen. Staff is extremely unhelpful and maintenance is basically non existent. We have had a broken dryer for over a month (for the second time) in addition to it being over 80 degrees in our unit. It is coming up on 4 days before school starts and they STILL have not addressed the wifi issue. We have no wifi at all due to lightning striking our building over two months ago. You can call and email and complain all you want, they will not come and they do not care. The units are outdated, dirty, and disgusting. Roaches, mold, and dirty air vents that make you sick are just a few issues among a multitude of problems with this place. Dog poop is everywhere and nothing is done about it. Expect to be charged for damages you did not make and even documented upon first move-in. The “gated” community aspect is a complete lie. The gates are almost ALWAYS broken and just left hanging open, so quite literally anyone can get in at all times. I do not and have not ever felt safe here. Absolutely do not sign here and parents, please look elsewhere for your student. I promise it will save you future headaches, stress, and money.

There’s so many bad things I could say about this place but let’s just keep it to the most recent I have found out about. I documented all damages to my apartment upon moving in. Once I moved out I was sent charges for damages that were clearly pictured in my move in inspection along with cleaning fees for items left in the common space because my roommates had not finished moving out yet (this was before our official move out date). I tried calling about it and was told they had not even looked at my move in inspection in the first place. I emailed and called for months trying to get the inaccurate charges removed with no response whatsoever, I mean zero. I ended up agreeing to go ahead and just pay the charges to avoid collections hitting my credit report (which they promised would not happen). Here we are months later and low and behold I now have a collections history on my credit report despite trying to contact them with no answer and even paying what they wanted. So thanks for that.

Absolutely horrible apt. They changed mgmt about a year ago and it got better. But when I moved in under the old mgmt, there were roaches everywhere. They were literally clogging the drains of the dishwasher yet we were still forced to move in. Had to replace every appliance. Gates always broken. Occasional shootings at the pool. Just God awful living conditions. My apt flooded and I had it treated twice, yet I was still charged $130 at move out. I emailed to dispute the charge, no response. I called to ask about it, they just sent me a reminder to pay and didn't even acknowledge my emails. Save your time, money, and health. Do not move here. They don't deserve a dime.

I would not suggest living here. I lived here for two years (I resigned early on with promise of lower rent) and there were always issues with the complex. During my time at Redpoint there were multiple shootings, car break-ins, lots of suspicious activity and cop cars, and people getting their catalytic converters sawed off their car. The main gates would get fixed and then somehow be broken the same day (I would guess by residents or guests mad that they couldn’t just drive in) and the back gates were chained off for quite a while. I think people would leave junker/damaged cars in the parking lots as free parking because the gates were always open. The gates being open/broken also meant anyone could come in, negating the “gated community” idea. In my personal experience my apartment was clean upon entry and didn’t have any issues with mold or mushrooms growing in it. The actual places themselves are decent, and as long as you didn’t get a unit with the mold or bug issues, the fixtures, furniture, and room size was nice enough. Maintenance was better and quicker this year (22-23) than my first year (21-22). At one point my unit went 5 months and several maintenance visits without working AC in which the unit would reach 80+ inside, then once the AC was fixed the heat went out. They never notified or communicated in any way if they had been in your apartment which was frustrating and intrusive. Halfway through my second lease they installed a bright floodlight directly in front of my bedroom window without notifying me, causing the bright light to come through at all hours of the day. They issued “parking passes” to new residents but not those who resigned, so I was in constant fear of my car being towed, on top of being broken into or having parts of it stolen. I never went to the pool because it so frequently had large pool parties hosted by non-residents resulting in crime. Just a month ago someone drove through shooting a gun in the air and bullet shells were found in the road only for management to send notice that no evidence of a shooting had been found, despite residents sending photos of the shells. The only reason I am giving this place two stars and not one is because in my single experience it was not as horrible as the other horror stories I’ve seen and heard. The management and organization of the complex is not good and you’d be smart to sign elsewhere.

Follow up review, since this seems to be the only way the management team seems to answer. Submitted my military orders around 60 days ago and just spent that time with little to no communication, aside from slight phone calls to my mother. Got charged 605$ in damages for a minor carpet stain that was there prior to me moving in. Addition have received no contact regarding them processing my orders. Additionally no response to multiple requests for proof of carpet replacement. Just the charge. Have tried emailing on the very little time I had access to my phone. And my mother has inquired as well. With this along with many other issues as I have stated in a review about 2 1/2 months ago. Please save yourself and do not live here. It’s a massive safety and financial concern. Management seems only out to make money and has no regard for the safety or well being of their residents. Please save yourself and do not live here for any reason. This place only exists to scam unsuspecting collage students and their parents out of money so they can continue to not fix a single thing
