We have experienced all three divisions of Hammond School, and each one is just exactly what our children have needed and loved at each step in their education. These teachers truly know, and invest in, their students and that support is invaluable. Beyond the classroom, we have loved the experiential education they have received by way of various service opportunities, on and off-campus special days or field studies, and their class trips. There are so many intangible benefits of the Hammond experience and community-we’re so blessed to be a part of it!

When I was growing up, I dreaded going through the tedium and anxiety-inducing days of grade school. So, when I started going through the process of deciding where my children were going to enroll, I never imagined that a place like Hammond could exist! Beyond receiving an advanced and challenging education, all four of my children (grades 7, 4, 2, and PK) look forward to walking down the magical halls of this upbeat and lively school everyday. The faculty and staff exude warmth and wholesomeness. They always have a smile on their faces and seem to truly love being a part of the Hammond family. The facilities, from the classrooms and playgrounds to the Wonder Lab and art studios, are top-notch and surpass all of the other schools my husband and I have ever visited. In just the few short years since we enrolled our oldest child, Hammond has built a new Innovation Center complete with a Sci-Dome, added a state-of-the-art gymnasium, renovated the football field and track, upgraded the playgrounds, and rebuilt a wing in the lower school- just to name a few of the always evolving and thoughtful advancements to the school.Hammond has enriched my children's lives in so many ways. The curriculum is purposefully challenging and engineered for continued success beyond high school. I am constantly surprised by how much they have learned, and I have no doubt that they will be beyond prepared for college when they graduate. In addition, my kids feel safe at school. The gated campus, security guards, and advanced security systems around the school allow the children to be free to be kids while they are in the school. I also feel safe knowing that the safety of all of the students is a top priority at Hammond. My kids also feel special at school. In the lower school, students can be awarded the Soaring Skyhawk achievement each week if they have exemplified the Skyhawk honor code. Further, in the middle school, students are encouraged to write thoughtful notes to each other to be put in a box and later given to another student that has done something extra helpful or considerate. Also, the low student-to-teacher ratio ensures that my children receive special attention from their teachers almost daily.I feel so fortunate to have Hammond in our community. It is an exceptional place to grow-up. I encourage anyone who is trying to decide where to educate their children to simply take a tour of the school. Believe me, it sells itself!

After our first tour of Hammond, we were convinced this was where our kids would go to school. After our first year, we knew we made the right choice. Our teachers knew our kids very well. We were given updates about their performance regularly during the school year. The kids are encouraged to be organized and complete their homework independently. They have a range of enrichment classes even at elementary level. There are several fun events where parents get to meet other families and make connections. Our kids love going to school. In their words, “ Hammond is awesome” !

Parking is horrible here! Came here for a baseball game and he parking situation needs alot of help. Come early if you want to find a spot. Or be prepared to walk a ways to the field.

As my family comes close to completing our 13th year of being a part of the Hammond family, it makes me pause and think what a wonderful gift I've given to my children. My oldest will be a rising Senior, then his two younger sisters will be rising a Sophomore and 3rd grader, respectively. Both my husband and I grew up in public schools and choosing Hammond was a big decision and investment for our family. I regularly ask my kids if they are glad to be at Hammond and the answer is always a resounding, "Yes!". In fact my husband has turned down numerous opportunities to move within his company because our children are thriving in so many ways and that is what is most important to us. Hammond provides my children with an opportunity to be challenged, to grow in their passions, to experience new opportunities, to excel in becoming a well rounded individual that has a healthy respect for academic, athletic and cultural excellence. We have seen much growth and change at Hammond in our 13 years with technology, new facilities on campus, curriculum as it is an environment that knows to excel you can never stop learning and being open to change. I am thrilled that my youngest has the opportunity to spend 3 years with our unbelievable LS Head, Helen Kiser. She joined the Hammond family this past summer and has already won the respect as well as the hearts of students, faculty and families. I know that with her passion for children and positive nature our LS will continue to amaze and engage our students to do great things and more importantly become kind and generous citizens. On the other end of my household, I'm knee deep in college preparation. Thank goodness, I am fully supported by the marvelous Upper School College Counseling Department and US teachers. I have said to many parents that ask about our US, the guidance and dedicated partnership your family receives from the College Counseling Department in 9th-12th grade is well worth the investment of tuition. The conversations that I share with my older children never cease to amaze me as they share discussions that they had in class or with a teacher. My only regret is that my husband and I aren't Hammond Alumni but we have found our place there as well both serving as volunteers in many capacities. If you are looking for a positive, challenging and well rounded environment for your children, I hope you will visit Hammond. It was the best decision our family has ever made and we have three kids that agree.

We joined the Hammond family 13 years go when our oldest child started pre-K. Enrolling our children in Hammond has been the best parenting decision we have made for them. Through rigorous curriculums and engaged teachers, my children have learned the importance of a strong work ethic and have been challenged academically. The opportunity to participate in numerous extracurricular activities from drama to sports has made my children well-rounded and enthusiastic to explore varied areas of interest. I am confident that with a Hammond education my children will get into their college of choice, but most importantly they will excel in college and in their futures.

As an alumni and a parent of the school I can speak completely honestly about Hammond. Looking back on my personal education, I can honestly say I didn't realize how fortunate I was that my parents sacrificed so much to send me to Hammond for so many years. As a parent, I will continue to make sacrifices to send my children to this amazing school. It is more than a school, it is a community, a family, and a breath of fresh air in the world we live in. If you want to find "the bad" or "the good" online when searching schools....you can find it anywhere, so after scrolling through all of the reviews, I challenge you to come take a look, give Hammond a call, step onto campus and experience for yourself what makes this school so SPECIAL!

This is our third year at Hammond in the Lower School. My husband and I chose Hammond because of the college preparatory academics and strong community atmosphere. When we made the switch from another small private school my oldest daughter was starting second grade and my youngest in PreK. I was a little concerned about my oldest daughter's transition into a new school and making new friends. Her second grade teacher Elizabeth Webb made the transition absolutely flawless. I would receive weekly phone calls the first couple of months just letting me know how she was doing in class, and on the playground. It meant the world to me that she was so in tune with what I was concerned with and that she took notice of so many aspects of my daughters day. We truly appreciate the love we receive from the Hammond community.

My son has attended Hammond since Pre-K. His academic instruction has been exceptional. As a member of an athletic team, academics always takes precedence. In fact, athletes are asked to go to study hall instead of gym each day to add extra focus time to studies. I am happy to be a reference for anyone considering Hammond for their child. We could not be more pleased with our choice.

I am so impressed with the number of enrichment offerings through Hammond's PLUS Programs. Also, Hammond offers more than 100 different summer programs and camps every year. My child attended Hawk Ridge Camp and absolutely loved it! Highly recommend your family checking out these great additions to Hammond.

Hammond School has been a great place for my children to grow up. Excellent, college-prep academics; safe environment; caring teachers. Laura Riley and Anne Fowler in particular have inspired our middle child to a life of knowledge and service.
