Absolutely avoid this place at all costs!!! They had my sisters ring for two years. It was a gift from our late great aunt. It was taken to Gibson’s to have a new setting, which we were told would be ready in approximately two weeks. We attempted to contact them over the phone to get an update multiple times after the two weeks were up and were told that there was only one jeweler and he was backed up. After a few more attempts, my mom went to the store and was given more excuses. She has stopped in multiple times and it’s always “it’s not ready” or “he’s just so busy”. Last week my sister called back and gave the name the order was under and was told they couldn’t find it and we needed to call back with a ticket number. My mom attempted to call back and left a message with the ticket number and received no return call. I tried calling and finally after a few days of trying, someone picked up the phone Tuesday morning. I gave him the ticket number and after a minute of being on hold, he came back to the phone and told me “we’re trying to get opened up for the day. Can I get a name and number and we’ll call you back later?” They called back Tuesday afternoon and notified us that the stone had a crack in it. My mom and sister went to pick it up today and said they were “looking for it” for 20 minutes. The lady behind the counter then said “It was here yesterday. It’s been on my desk for a week”. Yet each time we called they couldn’t locate it and had to call us back. They came back and basically said they had given up and would contact us once it was found. Once my mom said they were not leaving without it, it was found within minutes. At this point they all were making up excuses as to why it wasn’t ready. Said the jeweler broke his leg two weeks ago (but they’ve had the ring since summer of 2021). Said they attempted to call multiple times but the voice mail was full (no missed calls and a clear voicemail). Not once was an apology offered for breaking or losing the ring.Would HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere unless you want sentimental items to come back in worse shape than you left them.

The type of business that truly makes you wonder “how are they still open”I wouldn’t send my goldfish here. They’ll break your jewelry, lose your things and if they were Pinocchio, their nose could wrap the globe. Hate time and effort was wasted, but lesson learned.

I was recommended to Gibson’s after another local jeweler who I use was unavailable for an extended time. I took two gold rings (personal ring and new engagement ring) to them to resize 1-2 sizes down, each. Arrived at lunch time on Friday, the owners offered to have my rings done by that afternoon. Amazing service and provided a great consultation for picking out wedding bands. Highly recommend!

Recently, I had an unfortunate event happen where my silver chain was broken and I was ready to retire the chain from my wardrobe. I figured I would give this place a visit as I saw they did repairs on their website. Upon entrance, I told the lady running the desk my issue and she was incredibly helpful with remedying the situation. It was a Friday morning when she took the chain into her possession and said the chain would be fixed by Monday at the latest. Later that evening, I received a call saying the chain was completely fixed and ready for pickup. Upon returning, I was given back my once defeated chain restored to its former glory. I was ecstatic to have the chain again and can only thank the incredibly kind woman at the front desk and the engineers who fixed it too.

I’ve been here 3-4 times now and Gibson’s has never let me down. They’ve repaired two precious necklaces & bracelets for me quickly and always make things affordable. Great customer service & excellent craftsmen. Thank you Gibson’s for being a friendly, reliable local jeweler!

I had a great experience with them today ive been comparing jewelry in pawnshops and in the mall Gibson Jewelers have my heart. The necklace has weight unlike the pawnshops and those con artist in the mall. Also she was able to sell me my first set of diamonds. They were also willing to adjust the price. I would highly recommend them, only go here if you are looking for quality over quanity.

The man who opened the shop for the day, who I gather to be the owner, was particularly condescending and rude to me, probably because he thought I wasn't worth even common courtesy. Details below, but the long and short of it is they're poor judges of character and will be rude to people for sport if they think they can get away with it. Too bad, my Omega Seamaster needs servicing, but there are plenty of other places I will go.Rather than simply asking me to move my bicycle, which I was attending while I waited a few minutes for my order from the delicious Crust Bakeshop in the common area linking all the shops, he condescended "does this look like a bike rack?", (when I asked if there was a bike rack I could use, he informed me "no," without further explanation) complained that I was damaging his (already dead-as-a-doornail) flowers (which my attended bicycle was only lightly touching the concrete planter), and then finally, very unhelpfully explained that the concrete area was for walking, not for bicycle parking. (He forgot to mention it is also used for a funeral parlor for flowers that are dead & gone!). I would have been happy to move my bike if he had simply not been rude, and I may have even left with a good impression if he had acted with politeness and courtesy! As it was, my order was ready immediately after the interaction and I happily went home in Shandon.

I stopped in recently and the man at the counter whom I assumed was the jeweler himself because of the magnifying glasses and apron, never even said hello nor acknowledged my existence. He had an energy of dismissive arrogance. My daughter was getting a stone set in gold and was given an estimate, the price ended up being three times the voiced estimate. Since most of us aren’t made of money or have money trees, that was way out of my daughter’s budget and he verbally assaulted her for not being to pay what was asked and having to ask for the setting to be removed. Don’t give this guy your money! I guess he has be charged of purchasing precious metals without the proper permit. Sounds like a guy who doesn’t have integrity and do you want to do business with that type of energy?! I know I don’t!! Will never go back there!

Leaving this review to inform why exactly it deserves a 1 star rating. The primary jeweler was very cold and rude overall, resonating in a very bitter-scornful attitude when asked questions about some particular jewelry and work that he does. You shouldn't treat customers like that who simply are asking questions. They give you the business.Very unprofessional work and I just cannot recommend it. All of this for overpriced pieces that seem more like they came fromHobby Lobby. Do yourself a favor and pass on this store and save yourself the trouble. As for the manager, get some class. you need it.

Horrible, they not only screamed at my friend over the phone until she cried, they asked for almost twice the original quoted price. Her boyfriend went in to get her stone back and was treated aggressively. Neither one has received an apology. Horrible customer service will never recommend.

One of the staff members is quite nice and extremely helpful! The owner, however, is an absolute undelight, not mellowed but rather embittered. In my sparse encounters with him, he's been as arrogant, agressive, and impolite; I can't recommend this work in comparison to other local columbia businesses and feel as if a bridge has been burned. I will not be returning after the way I was spoken to at the counter.

I've never experienced this level of disrespect and unprofessionalism in my entire life. Alright so I had a beautiful stone that I was wanting to get made into a pendant. I asked how much it would be to do the setting in gold and the lady told me an estimated price of about $133. I thought that sounded great. About two weeks pass, I go in to take a look at the pendant because it was almost finished. They ended up doing a completely different setting. (They did not call me and communicate this to me) It was a lot thicker of a band around the pendant but I told them I still liked it! I was going to come pick it up next Wednesday. At that point, before they decided to change the setting, They should have called me and communicated that to me. But there was 0 on their part. Tuesday rolls along and I call up there and ask for the price, said I was estimated about $133 so I know what to bring tomorrow. They told me it was going to be something like $340. It really caught me off guard because that was not even CLOSE to what I was estimated. With the holidays and everything coming up, I cannot afford that right now. I called back maybe 20 minutes later after talking to a few people about it. A man answers the phone this time. I told him I wanted to touch base about my pendant. I told him the price that I was estimated and that it wasn't discussed with me that was going to be the price. He immediately cuts me off and YELLS at me and says "I'm going to stop you right there, first of all it costs that much to MAKE the pendant I don't know who you talked to" I told him that I did not know that, nobody discussed that with me. The only thing that I was estimated was $133. Nothing else was explained to me. He then cuts me off again and says "SO WHAT YOU DONT WANT IT?" At this point I am on the verge of tears. I told him that's not what I was expecting to pay and I cannot afford that. I kind of just want my stone back at this point. He says (still yelling at me mind you) "I'll tell you what, I'll cut your stone out of this pendant but if you ever come back here again with that stone you are going to be charged double" And then he hung up in my face. I immediately started crying. I have never in my life been treated like this by a business. A few of my friends were researching this business, seeing if anybody else has had this experience. We've seen several other reviews with the same type of situation. Went to pick it up. I had my boyfriend go inside because I did not feel safe going in there. The man was still just as aggressive. He denied everything that he did to me. And after all this we did not even receive a single apology. They did however apologize to my friend who called over the phone who knows a lot more about shady Jewelers than I do saying that they priced me incorrectly. But That was never told to me. Couldn't even apologize to ME. This whole situation just makes me feel like they were trying to scam me. He even made a comment that they don't do work for free. Yeah, obviously. This is a running business. We could have avoided this entire situation if you would have been more upfront about what your pricing is. There was absolutely zero communication throughout this entire process on their part. And somehow, They are flipping the narrative and putting it all on me. I understand maybe being frustrated because you've already made the jewelry And now you're losing money. But that is entirely your fault and that should not have been taken out on me, someone who has never been to a jewelry store before and wasn't explained a single thing in this process besides that my estimate was going to be around $133. I've had numerous outside parties agree that this whole situation was incredibly shady. So yeah. I think it's safe to say that I recommend staying far away from this business.

I went here to get an engagement ring with my girlfriend. We wanted to support local and they came well recommended. Things started off fine, she picked out the ring she wanted and requested a slight modification. Mr. Gibson said he'd get a quote on the modification from his friend and call us with a quote the next day. We didn't hear from them for three days so I called them Friday afternoon and they gave me the wrong answer to my question (they said they'd have the stone set by Monday when that's not what we were waiting on. They didn't even have our stone.) I reminded them we were waiting on a quote and they said they'd call us with it by Monday. We never heard back from them ever again. This was weeks ago and either they still haven't caught their error or they just don't care about doing business with us. I will encourage everyone I can to stay away from Gibson's and go somewhere else that actually wants your money.

I took a ring to be resized, it was ready quickly and I thought the price was reasonable. When I went to pick it up, I decided that I really needed it to be a half size larger. They were happy to take it back and resize again for no additional fee, and it was ready the next day. Overall, a pleasant experience.

So disappointing! An acquaintance recommended Gibsons for jewelry repair. It took two months to get my repairs done. And that was after a visit and follow call. The two rings he resized are damaged. My pearl is scratched and gouged. Brand new ring. My amethyst stones are scratched also. Terrible service and excuses. I don't recommend.
