this place has bad maintenance, and takes a very long to fix simple issues. Also unreliable repairs.

I have lived here for the past six years and am honestly heartbroken that I have to move due to a job in a different state. This place is admittedly not without its minor inconveniences (parking can be kind of horrible and like a weird system you have to game (visitor's parking is basically always overcrowded, the parking lot can be pretty full at night after a certain time, people park in areas they really shouldn't that make the entire parking lot harder to navigate safely) pet owners don't clean up after their pets all the time, when there are home games during the football season traffic in the area is horrid to the point I don't leave the apartment since it is too much of a headache, the train systems that run nearby can be a real inconvenience since they block off roads, one of the two elevators seems to always be out of commission, package room can be a bit of a headache to find your items), but the positives FAR outweigh those negatives. The maintenance team deals with issues within apartments quickly and effectively, the place is pretty quiet, the rental team is kind and helpful (big shout out to Zachary), renters primarily keep to themselves but from my experience are pretty kind, the apartments are a great size with high ceilings, etc. I wrote down all the negatives I could think of above, and everything else has been absolutely wonderful. I don't write many reviews, but as I am searching for a new apartment at the moment I realize how vital these reviews are for others looking to rent, so I wanted to leave a review for this place I've called home for the past six years and I will miss very much.

612 Whaley is a great location to live at and the management is awesome. I lived here a little over a year ago. There were a few issues, however. The building is infested with roaches. I would see 2-3 in my apartment every week. The trash room also has a lot of them too. The walls are extremely thin and you will hear everything your neighbors are doing. Guest parking is a nightmare here.Village idiot pizza is downstairs and a nail salon which was convenient. Also the rent prices are really good. Overall would give this community 3/5 stars.

Not a horrible place to live but not one of the best either. Apartments are nice and updated and the windows are a great touch, however the floor plan for a 2 bedroom is a little odd. If I leave my bedroom doors open the person walking in the main door to the apartment can see clearly into my room and there's barely any cabinet space. the bedroom doors are also a frosted type glass in the middle so while you can't see anything clearly you can definitely see the tv light shining in your room all night long or hear the drop of a pen because of how thin the doors and walls are. I love Luke and Zach in the leasing office though and they have done everything to make me and my roommate feel at home, however issues with neighbors are a common occurrence and some of them even say that they have a roach infestation and have reached out multiple times to the leasing office with not much if anything done to resolve the issue. Also guest parking is pretty much nonexistent considering Olympia, Granby, Whaley and The Cottages all share the same visitor spaces, which are located at 612 Whaley and parking for residents is also sometimes hard to find if you come back after 9:30 pm. It is a very pet friendly community so if you do not like dogs, I would say do NOT move here, other than that, if you're looking to live by yourself this is a good option.

I lived here for the past year and I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this apartment. Zach is incredible and helped me so much whenever I had issues. I felt safe here, which means more than I can put into words. Parking is a bit of an issue if you have friends come over, I hope they add visitor spots eventually because people from Olympia and the other places have their guests park in the limited visitor spots at whaley, and that was a concern when I had visitors. I am so glad I signed my lease here, and I cannot recommend this place enough. The women that take the trash work every day to keep the areas clean and I am so appreciative on the man that always fixed the maintenence issues in my apartment. Incredible staff, glad we had on site security, and just a great place to live.

The apartment is nice the location is also great for my daughter who is at school in USC she moved in May and by June her apartment was infested with fleas we are still working with the exterminators who have been wonderful but the management has not been. We will see what happens next but I refuse to have my daughter or pets subjected to this as we never had this problem before. Looking for a change to this situation it has cost additional money and stress that we did not need. I think people need to be cautious and not sure what others are experiencingBut if so they need to speak up so things could be correctly

I lived here for 18 months during my undergrad and LOVED it. The apartments are very spacious and the 1bd floor plan was perfect for me. There's plenty of storage space and lots of windows in the living room. I never had trouble with appliances or maintenance; they were always quick to respond. Neighbors are generally quiet, there's LOTS of dogs, and very friendly staff. Most everyone that lives here keeps to themselves, but is super friendly. Village Idiot downstairs is AMAZING. Their pizzas are pricy, but you can't beat good pizza and beer IN your apartment building. The only negatives were some lazy pet owners, parking, and mold. First of all, my bathroom was just always very moist and mold grew in my shower very quickly. I never felt sick or had any issues, but I did wonder if problems could arise in the future. Some dog owners failed to clean up after their pets in the hallways and stairwells, but the employees in charge of cleaning go above and beyond to sanitize shared spaces daily. Also, parking is a beast. I had several guests cars get towed and there was never any parking. There's not nearly enough visitor spots to accommodate the number of residents. The worst thing in my opinion is the cars that use the Whaley parking lot just to cut through to Oly/Granby. There's always guaranteed to be someone with their dog on a leash and someone flying past them without looking. Seriously, there have been a handful of times someone has almost hit my car because they're going so fast through our parking lot.I'd say management is great, property is great, cleaning crew is freaking fantastic they deserve a raise, and the residents in the building are pretty good, but the Olympia/Granby residents treat Whaley like it's their playground. I've watched swarms of drunk kids leaving village and chucking glass bottles in the parking lot where people have to walk their dogs. It's a little disheartening. Other than that, I loved living here and would totally recommend to anyone that wants quieter student housing.

I lived here for 2 years and only moved because we needed more space after getting engaged. Since I love seeing the details of a new home from a resident's perspective, hopefully this super in-depth review can help you! Keep in mind during your apartment search that most reviews for any community are made only when a person has a bad experience, so don't think any one review is indicative of everyone's residency.1. The 1 br was great for me and my spouse. The amount of storage and space was fine since he was newly graduated and I was a grad student. If you're looking to live here alone you will have more than enough room for yourself and entertaining. If you need a quiet space to work, the common areas on the upper floors are great and typically don't have anyone in them during the day.2. Bugs are a huge factor for me when choosing a place to live. We maybe had 3 palmetto bugs in the entire 2 years we were there, which is pretty good for SC in the summer on the 1st floor close to the main entrance! Never had any ants or other bug problem.3. The residents are all very kind. Never had any noise issues aside from an old neighbor who had a band. Even then, we could only hear them in the living room so it was never a big deal. Be aware that there are TONS of dogs! Our pup loved getting to interact with other dogs and people. While this was mostly a plus, some people lack the courtesy to pick up after their pets in the parking lot. If you don't like dogs this apartment might not be for you.4. The staff is fantastic. I've noticed other complexes make sure to keep the place clean during typical leasing season and move-in week, then quality starts to drop. Here, they are very consistent and all common areas are thoroughly cleaned every day. Staff always so quick to help and the head manager, Josh, is truly the best. They go above and beyond to make sure all your needs are met. The new security staff is also awesome and friendly. They even offered to walk me to my car at night since I get off at midnight, not that I've ever felt unsafe.5. Only downside is some of the amenities. The pool is small and mainly used by Granby and Olympia residents. The gym's AC has been out of order for as long as I can remember and a lot of the equipment is broken. However, you do have access to each of the other Mills gyms. Since it was such a small factor in our stay here, I still think it's deserving of a 5 star rating.Edited to add something I forgot: the parking is awful. If you plan to have guests, you sometimes have to grab a guest parking spot for them beforehand otherwise they might be out of luck.Overall, I loved living here. I've lived in 3 student living apartments and this was by far the absolute best. It's a great place to live if you are a young professional, grad student, law student, or upperclassman who wants a quieter home.

Mixed feelings about being here. Definitely room for improvement. Not the managment’s fault:- nonairconditioned hallways- hallways that smell like weedThe managements fault- a front desk that is for decoration (would love to see a security guard or someone to sign for packages sitting here)- front doors that always find a way to be left open- no secure way to send outgoing mail- employees not wearing masks that cover their nose- no good system for keeping packages secure

612 Whaley is a very affordable place to live with both modern appliances and old mill style high ceilings. The management is always prompt in responding to requests and inquiries which makes the living experience much more enjoyable. Luke Dennis has been exceptionally helpful during my entire leasing process. We spoke over the phone before my tour of the building and he was very professional. Once on the tour, he gave me all the options that were available and allowed me to see each of them. He also gave me floor layouts of each plan before I left so I could make a informed decision. I personally feel that Luke went out of his way to ensure I received the apartment I truly wanted. I had specific requests (wanting to be on the first floor) and when issues prior to leasing occurred, he informed me right away. He was very empathetic and ensured me he would do all he could to make it happen. I am in a 1 bedroom currently on the 1st floor and will be moving to a larger apartment in the next month. The Mills living experience has been amazing. They invested heavily in their workout equipment which also means a lot to me. With about 30+ peloton bikes and an entire new workout room at Granby; you can't help but workout. If you're debating staying at this location; STOP! You will not regret your decision.
