Great historic bed and breakfast in Charleston's Historic District.Super nice attentive staffTop breakfast and a small snack from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a glass of white wine, all included in the price.100% recommendedRooms: Antique furnishings, of course, the floor creaks, for some this may be a defect, but anyone who has ever lived in an old house knows thisWalkability: The whole of Charleston is practically within walking distance. Our car remained in the parking lot until departure ($12.50 per night)Food & drinks: Super great breakfast

We have been staying at the Barksdale on and off for over 20 years. Magical experience. The Barksdale is perfectly located where you can walk to everything. The building is three hundred years old and they have done a beautiful job keeping it up. The rooms are absolutely stunning and the breakfast is by far the best B&B breakfast in all of Charleston. But what makes this place special is the staff. The Assistant Manager Parker is absolutely incredible and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. He is perfect for that position, his troubleshooting abilities are handled calmly and professionally. Bernadette "B" and Brenda will serve you your breakfast and are so incredibly friendly and efficient. Donna is very sweet and helpful as well. And then there's Aleeyah... I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful woman. She not only makes you feel like you are family , but makes you feel that the Barksdale is truly your home.I would hire her in 2 seconds. She is amazing, and I never saw her once stop working. She consistently goes above and beyond. She's is the perfect person to greet you when you arrive! The only thing that I would recommend to management is putting larger tvs in the roomfor old folks who can't see a twenty two inch!Walkability: Right off of Kings Street!

I personally didn't like the location. So close (if visiting University, then it's a WONDERFUL LOCATION) to the University and well hidden drive, not marked too well. Long walk on cobblestones to our sons wedding destination. Uber best option after evening gatherings... especially for those of us with older bones:)Otherwise, LOVED IT! Bright Yellow was the best color for this beautiful B&B.

Loved the B&B. Lovely courtyard, small TV and bathroom, but it is a 300 yr old house. Service is great, located near many restaurants and attractions within walking distance.

Great location great staff and lovely old house full of character but sadly the bedroom was very shabby & severe need of TLC with a bathroom that had plaster coming off the wall , damp in the ceiling & damp patches in the bedroom ceiling - not what we expected considering what we paid for the room per nightRooms: Shabby & need of serious TLCWalkability: In walking distance of kings street & old town
