July 2024 by Michael Sharbo
***Update - 7/1/2024 - So, after almost two months of trying to get answers out of Sharon and her team, I finally took my taxes over to Mark Gilbert at Breakthrough Financial and had him redo them. Great guy, I would highly suggest you go see him if you're still having issues with Sharon. Well, much like another commenter, we came to find out that Sharon never filed my federal returns. State, yes. But never federal. For what reason, I don't know. Mark filed mine, clicked submit, and it was accepted by the IRS literally 30 seconds later. I sat there and waited to see what happened, that's how fast it was. I checked the IRS website the next day, and low and behold, it says it's been accepted. I don't know what in the world is going on with Sharon this year, but something isn't right. I beginning to think that she wasn't allowed to submit any returns for whatever reason. Like maybe her professional filing number has been revoked. I don't know. But I do know that I will be going to Mark from now on, so I don't have these issues again.
I have been going to Sharon for about 10 years now and have never had any issues. Until this year that is, and pretty much what it looks like everyone else has been going through. I filed on April 12th, same process as it's been every year, nothing new. That night I paid my SC state taxes that were due. A month goes by, and I haven't seen or heard anything. I start trying to contact Sharon's office, and here the trouble begins. Constantly getting the "we're checking on it. You're not the only one. The IRS is having a lot of problems this year." excuses you see in most of these reviews. Then, it was to a point where out of the 15 calls a week I was making, I might actually speak to someone once or twice. And it was always the same thing; "I'll have to get her to look at it and call you back. We've been having a lot of issues this year." Well, the call back never comes. Finally, after about the 6-week mark, I get my little return from LA state (where my employer is out of). So, I'm thinking alright, federal should be on the way. Well, it still isn't here. Every time I check on the IRS website, I get a message saying, "the information you've provided doesn't match our records." I've spoken with the IRS on three separate occasions and every time they tell me that they have no record of any federal tax filing for me. Not that it was rejected or anything, that they have never seen it come through. Period. According to Locklair, as of this past Monday, "the IRS found it and are working on getting it processed." Well, there's still been nothing, and now when I call her office it just says, "this user is not accepting phone calls". What pisses me off more than anything is that I haven't been rude or obnoxious or hooting or hollering at them or anything. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, tried to be understanding, and have been more than patient. At this point, just tell me you f'ed up and let's do what we have to do to get my refund coming to me. Or at least call back when you say you're going to call back. I'm giving it one more week and then I'm taking my taxes somewhere else to have the federal filed and hopefully get this all rectified. This all has just been ridiculous, but a little honest communication would gone a very long way with me.

Sharon has been doing my taxes for years. It's never been great, but good enough. Even though I sent her all my year-end information months early, on April 15 she had still not filed my taxes. She and her son lied to me repeatedly over the phone saying everything was filed. I showed up at the office on the afternoon of the 15th (along with dozens of other freaked out customers) to learn that my taxes had actually not been filed. I asked her to file an extension and she said absolutely not, that she'd file everything before midnight. (She also was extremely rude to me, telling me to be quiet several times) Weeks later she mailed me my packet and the date she signed it was April 19 (4 days late)! The IRS still says they have no record of my taxes being filed and Sharon is refusing to return my calls. I honestly don't know what to do. I've never in my life been late filing my taxes without first filing an extension. I did everything I was supposed to do. I can't get a live person from the IRS on the phone to guide me.
Sharon's behavior is outrageous and likely criminal.
UPDATE - (June 20). I finally found a new accountant who has confirmed that Sharon never filed my federal taxes. For some reason, she filed my state taxes, but not federal. Obviously, I haven't heard anything from Sharon in months.

My husband and I had a meeting with her in the beginning of March. In the meeting she was extremely rude and acted as if we were bothering her by bringing her our business. The office was dirty, unorganized, and smelled so bad we needed a shower after leaving. We had some red flags after that meeting but decided to let her do the taxes since she was recommended to us by a friend. Big mistake. Like many of these reviews we called and emailed several times to check in. If we could get someone on the phone we were always told everything was fine and they would let us know when our taxes were done. By the morning of April 15th we decided we just needed to come to the office. When we arrived the office was full of other worried customers doing the same thing. The man in the office was rude…to US! As if we had done something wrong by coming to check on our taxes….. on April 15th. They couldn’t find our file and searched for about 30 mins. Finally located it. The taxes had not even been started. I fully believe they were not planning to do them at all. Sharon and her staff do not care about their costumers and treat people and their business with such disregard and disrespect it is unfathomable. We ended up taking our file and doing our taxes ourselves, but i would recommend anyone who used her to take legal action assp as your taxes were likely not filed.

I’ve been using Sharon for years and never had an issue until this year. I’m dealing with the same situation I’m reading in all other recent reviews. I’ve documented 37 phone calls. Twice I’ve actually had someone answer the phone, but they were unable to help me and said they’d call back. No call back. I went there on a Friday and walked right in. No other clients were there and she seemed very annoyed I showed up because she needed to leave for lunch. I explained to her I’m struggling waiting on thousands of dollars on a return that was supposedly filed months before. I then showed her a blank area on my federal form that was missing her EIN. She said it doesn’t matter if she left it blank because she’s been doing this so long and they know her. Lady, what?! We all know these are processed by a computer and a missing piece of information is going to raise a flag for review. She refused to look at what I was trying to show her after I spent hours figuring this out on my own. She assured me it’s the IRS and not her and said she would not refile my taxes because I’d automatically be audited. I asked her to explain to me the “glitch” and she responded “I don’t know” She claimed the IRS won’t tell her anything when she calls. I asked her for a filing reference or trace number that would show me it was actually submitted. She got very rude by this point and just kept telling me be patient. I asked if there might be something she needed to update in her software and she responded saying she gets updates daily, but she guesses she’d have to give them a call. She wrote down my name on a post it note and said she’d be back at the office at 4. She’s never called back. I’ve called time after time leaving messages and no response. Sharon is extremely incompetent, unprofessional, arrogant, and lazy. This is causing me a great deal of stress as I have a damaged roof and it needs to be replaced. Now I water damage and mold and I’m beginning to have headaches. My anxiety is through the roof. The only way to get in touch with Sharon is to show up at her office. She may be there, she may not. If anyone has an suggestions regarding refiling with another company and/or seeking legal counsel please contact me. It might be time we all lawyer up.

Sharon has been doing my taxes for years. I mailed them to her this year for the first time as I have moved out of town. The office received them towards the end of February. My payment for preparing the taxes was deposited March 1st. Voice mails & emails to the office have gone unanswered. No one ever answers the phone. Friday April 12th - someone actually answered (first time in weeks) & I explained that I needed to know my refund amount so I could track it on the IRS website. He didn't have access to my file and was going to call me back. Hours went by and I called again. A lady answered this time and assured me my taxes were submitted but she couldn't get my file to get the refund amount because Sharon was with a client. She was going to call me back when the client left and she could get the file. Not surprisingly, no one called me back. Today, April 22nd, I finally reached the Dept. of Revenue to make sure my taxes were submitted and they have NOT received my 2023 tax tile.

Sharon has been doing my taxes for over 10 years. Last year there was an issue with her receiving my documents. After calling several times asking to confirm if she received them, I finally got an answer. This year I emailed my documents to her and immediately called to confirm that she got them. I called 2 times with no answer. Twice I called and actually spoke to a man who said he was helping her out. Both times he told me the same story, she was with a client, but he would find out if she received my documents and call me back. I never heard from him. I sent 5 emails asking for her to please confirm that she received my documents, all went unanswered. The last email I sent, I stated that if I didn't hear back from her by the end of business day to forget about doing my taxes. All phone calls and emails went unanswered. Sharon's lack of simple communication put me under a lot of stress and frustration. I am legally blind, therefore can't drive. I had to scramble to arrange for someone to drive me to H&R Block (I highly recommend the James Island branch) to get my taxes done. I would not recommend Sharon, nor use her services again. I wasn't her biggest client, but I had been loyal for over 10 years. I was very disappointed in the way she treated me. Reading the other reviews, it appears I wasn't the only one she treated poorly.

We have used Sharon for the last 16 years. This year things seem to have gone bad very quickly. We had our taxes done on January 29. We never got a refund on our federal taxes and calls and emails to her went unanswered. My husband finally went by her office and she told him that there was a glitch in the system, and that some of her clients taxes that were e-filed did not actually go through. I don’t know why she never bothered to call us or email us and let us know this, we still would not know had he not gone by there because she was not volunteering this information. She told us she would re-submit our tax return electronically a second time. A few more weeks went by still no refund and a call to IRS confirmed that they had no tax return being submitted this year. My husband went by the office a second time to let her know that it still had not been filed and told her that we would pick up a copy of the taxes and mail ourselves. The day after he picked up the hardcopy of the taxes , we got a package from IRS where they were returning the taxes back to us because one of the signatures was written in the wrong spot. The only problem is that neither of the signatures on our tax returns were ours. She had signed our name in our taxes back in February and mailed them in herself, but did not see fit to tell us that she had done this. A simple phone call or the truth to us would have been sufficient. If there was a problem filing taxes electronically all she had to do was contact us to come by and sign our tax returns. According to other online reviews I have seen, we are not the only people that have had a a similar problem with her this year. Please confirm with the IRS that they have a record of your tax returns to avoid any penalties. I am not sure if someone else signing my tax return is legal or not, but it definitely is not appreciated.

Just discovered that my Mother's taxes were not filed when she had them done a week ago!My mother is 75 with terminal cancer and needs her tax.We have called and keep getting the secretary and have not gotten a return phone call. This morning we were told by the secretary that there was a glitch in the system and thousands of their customers taxes were not filed and they are working on it.If that's the case then why have customers not been contacted by the company to inform them of the issue???I am absolutely livid and I do not believe that is what happened until I see concrete proof I will be doing everything in I can to get to the bottom of this and if I can't then my shark of a lawyer will!Very very unprofessional!Do not use them!

The worst accountant in the world , please stay away from her, she steals the clients information and give it to illegal immigrant people, takes money without service and is careless in her work, and she has a secretary who is the worst cursing to the client, very rude and unprofessional.
