We are so extremely grateful that we were able to stay at the RMH for a few nights, while our little girl had a procedure done at MUSC Children's Hospital. The house was really clean with many games and a playground for our kids. The staff was really friendly and the volunteers providing meals are absolutely amazing.

We stayed at Ronald McDonald house back in 2019 when our Marlee was born and was very sick to the extent of being on ECMO. RMHC made it possible for us to stay with our baby the entire 3 months she was in NICU. They are a true blessing. Our Marlee is a thriving child now and turns the big 4 this weekend. Thank you RMHC!!! You will forever live in my heart!

Very great everyone is loving here and they provide everything the parents and family needs to relieve stress from our visit. They take care of housing and food. They also have great activities for the kids to keep them occupied. We love it here ?

This is my first time staying with a RMH. They provided me with a room with a bathroom and though both are small, there's a ceiling fan, lights, a TV, and again, my own bathroom! I received a wonderful gift bag the day after check in and there's a few computers and even a pinball machine (free to use) upstairs, a wonderful playground for children and they provide breakfasts and dinners. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions I had and Gardy is so sweet and a nice extra to the house! My only complaint is the lack of parking, the city should have accommodated this, but I read in another response to a review they are working on building a new place and I hope they are allowed a parking lot for their guests! Thank you for getting me in on a days notice to stay close to my son during his treatment!

We didn’t actually stay, but we’ve been to 3 or 4 RMH as my daughter has multiple out of state doctors and this was the worst one we’ve dealt with.I wish they would have told us that the rooms are so small, I guess we were just spoiled with the small, but comfortable rooms at the other places because we were shocked when they told us they assigned us the “biggest room” that had 2 small twin beds in it with barely enough room to walk between them.My husband is 6’2” and we are a family of 4, there was absolutely no way we could sleep there without people on the floor. They have no cots either, which all the other houses had. You’d think with the small rooms, cots would be something available. Then all the rules! Yes, it’s a place for sick children, but does that mean sick children don’t like to play or laugh or be happy?? I mean, it’s a place for CHILDREN and they’re being treated like “be seen, not heard”.It was very discouraging. We ended going to Walmart to buy sleeping bags and realized we’d end up spending more getting all that than if we rented a hotel room with adequate space.I do appreciate RMH and they’ve been an amazing organization to help us when we needed it, but this one should have been designed better and the staff needs retraining to be considerate, sympathetic and empathetic.

The Ronald McDonald House - Charleston is a warm place for children or parents, very close to the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital of the Medical University of South Carolina. It was expanded years ago to accommodate the parents who had children in that hospital. It is easily seen on Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston. Inside and outside it is visually and warmly inviting.
