This place is just a money maker and not worried about matching the correct pet with the Person that is adopting. They kept my $175 even though I returned the kitten under 24 hours.Their cats are feral. They no longer foster cats. I was told this today by the manager. I returned a special needs cat that I could not afford to maintain financially. They never mention the Genetic Mutation that the kitten could have. There entire business is a dump from the Charleston County Animal Control and taking the cat/kitten in for adoption. They don't even know how the kitten acts, once she/he gets out of the cage. Pet Helpers is a totally different operation. My last adoption was in 2020. 2 Fostered kittens that were very social. That is where Pet Helpers has made a big mistake. Ride around town and look for a stay. It's free. No different.

The absolute best animal rescue. I've been supporting Pet Helpers for over a decade, and it's always the best experience. I adopted my now 13 year old cat from here as a kitten and visit often with my daughter to socialize the kitties in need of homes. We absolutely LOVE how they care for their animals and truly do their best to give them a home-like atmosphere. The staff and volunteers are always so kind. You can tell everyone truly loves the animals.
Most recently I needed to rehome my mom's senior dogs as she moved into hospice care and then passed, and the experience was top notch. Not only did they find a wonderful home for them as a bonded pair, but they had the best medical and social care along the way. In what was such a hard time for our family, we knew my mom's dogs were in the best hands.
Pet Helpers will always have our love and support. We can't thank them enough!

My fiancé and I came into to the facility today and we cannot say anything but amazing things about this place. We were immediately greeted with friendly faces and were given so much information about the animals. You can easily tell how much all of the employees not only know about the animals and their personalities but how much they genuinely care for them too.Everyone was informative, super friendly and patient! I would recommend anyone who’s looking to volunteer, foster or adopt to come here they’re the best!

Hubby and I rescued a cat from his work place back in march. Unknown to us she was expecting and on May 3 gave birth to 8 little bundles of joy. They have really been fun to have around the house but unfortunately with mama kitty we also have another cat and a dog. Could not keep all the babies. We were fortunate to find homes for 4 of them. I reached out to Pet helpers last week for advise and ended up taking the other 4 babies there to get adopted. I was able to see part of the adoption area and one of the cat rooms. There was also a private party going on in one of the other rooms. Was very impressed with the place. The tech at intake were super sweet and I felt ok leaving the babies in their care. Fingers crossed the 4 littles go to good homes.

They helped me find a great cat. They offer pets that are fully vaccinated and chipped. They also do a quick counseling session before you take your pet home. Love this place.

Just left, very disappointed with the experience with the person at the desk and her negativity.
We came in with questions about both adopting and volunteering and were met with nothing but “not really” and “no.”
*You can only volunteer to wash dishes or pick up trash? Not to walk the dogs or visit with them?*
I understand some of the protocols for vetting people and protecting the animals, so it’s ok that you aren’t even allowed NEAR any dogs until you’ve selected no more than 2-3 to meet from small photos on the wall.
But then the first 2 we selected weren’t even available and/or in the facility.
What a sad thing to discourage people from helping.
We love animals and can’t wait to find our next baby, as well as help some we can’t adopt, unfortunately at another shelter/rescue.
I will say that our very brief interaction with Sadie was pleasant. She seems like she actually cares about the animals and what she does and wants to be there.
It hurt to walk out today, but you have to follow the energy. I’ll pray for the sweet babies that get one less visit today because someone insisted on being so terribly unpleasant and difficult.

Such deliberate, targated and maliciously blissful ignorance. Providing pet assistance is not positive if the entire experience is covertly hostile.
Moving forward I still love myself & I love my animals❤️

I met Agave at the Pet Helpers night at James Island Chick-fil-A recently. What a Sweetie!!! Agave is absolutely a gentle giant!!!! Outstanding that the ASPCA and Pet Helpers are giving Agave the life he deserves!!!
Please think of Pet Helpers when you shop, as stores have BOGO deals on bag cat food and bag dog food, which is a great way to support the Community Pet food bank.

Just got back from Florida to learn Pet Helpers adopted out my little dog that someone picked up and dropped off to pet helpers. Knowing who the owner is and still adopted my pet out. Kaiser liked to roam the streets but for some reason everyone thinks they need to pick up animals that don’t belong to them. Thanks for coming by my house while I was out of town to tell my daughter and my 4 year old granddaughter that you adopted out our family pet. WHAT A RACKET !

I had an awesome experience with PetHelpers. I fell in love with their shy brown ticked tabby Felix and he’s an amazing friend. At first he was shy as he’d been at PetHelpers for a long time. The staff did everything to help him get acquainted with me including giving me treats to give him. They had a difficult time getting him in a crate as he was so shy but they found a way and made it possible for me to take him home. Now, after a month, he’s best friends with my resident cat and always wants cuddle time with his human. I’m so grateful they made our friendship possible and hooked me up with the coolest cat ever.
