I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Honest One Auto on Shelby Ray Ct in Charleston. They charged me $189 for a diagnostic that, frankly, seemed like it wasn’t even performed. To make matters worse, they charged me $135 for a tow that was only 0.3 miles away from my house.
The final straw was when they gave me a quote of $13,000 to fix a supposedly blown engine, which included replacing a starter that didn’t even need to be replaced! After getting a second opinion, I found out they were overcharging me by more than $6,000.
Skye, who handled my case, was unhelpful and seemed more interested in inflating the charges than providing any real service. I ended up not having them do the work, but they still charged me $350.
Looking back, I should have done my homework because this place has a lot of negative reviews for wrong diagnoses and hiking up prices. Honest One Auto is definitely not the place to go if you're trying to save money. My advice? Stay far away from this place. It’s poison for your wallet.

Got a flyer in the mail saying $69.99 for FULL SYNTHETIC oil change. Was pretty happy because usually full synthetic oil change is 100 bucks these days. I brought the flyer in along with my car so they knew I would be expecting the discount. When I came back a couple hours later to checkout they told me it would be $100. They refused to honor the price on the flyer saying that my Fiat 124 takes Euro 5w40 synthetic that is more expensive. I would've liked a phone call before they did the work if they weren't going to honor the flier they mailed me! Not very honest at all!

I manage a Fleet of 45 vehicles and have been using Honest 1 in West Ashley for about a year. They are fantastic. They know my vehicles can’t be down for long and as long as we don’t mind leaving them and coming back a day or two later they are always done and done well. I want it done right the first time, so I try not to rush them.
I’ve read some other reviews on here and I feel like people who honestly think, in CHARLESTON, one of the fastest growing cities in the country right now, that you can get GOOD mechanical service QUICKLY, then you are going to be disappointed. I could (and do) use the in and out oil change services when I don’t have a lot of time. But I have been pleasantly surprised with Honest 1’s service and mechanical skills to fix what other shops closer to our business couldn’t figure out. My company is in N Mt Pleasant and we drive to West Ashley for service. That says a lot.

I’ve been going to this location for nine years. They take care of me every time! They are always dependable, honest, and veteran friendly. Skye, their manager, goes over and beyond to make sure your car gets the service that it needs. I highly recommendthis shop.

Seven hrs wait without any update of repair being done. Showed broken "concrete"parts not from my car as the cause. Labor cost over $500. Offered car ride home in filthy car filled with food and trash. Honest signs displayed in sitting room, however the service was the contrary!

Had a decent experience in the past, but they for some reason can't give me a quote on a sensor replacement without seeing the vehicle? It's not like we're talking about something invasive and labor intensive, it's literally a sensor on the front of the motor and outside of having like, bolted on armor to the engine block I'm not sure how the cost could ever be variable.

I have been road tripping for the last month. I end up getting a flat tire near Boneyard Beach after hitting a pothole. I got the spare on and drove to 3 different shops that couldn't replace a tire for me either they didn't have the tire, had to wait until Monday or they were booked up and couldn't fit me in. It was the weekend and most couldn't get the tires until Monday.
Honest-1 was the 4th shop I called and they told me to come right in. I managed to get a tire from the nearby Walmart and came here hoping that they could fit me in. When I got there, one of their tech took my car right away and proceed to put the new tire on the rim and install it.
While in the waiting room, the front desk picked up a call. Yes, I was ease-dropping because there's nothing else to do. Seems like the customer on the phone needed new tires put on urgently. Front desk began their speech about how it's the weekend and the earliest they can get it done for the customer was Monday.
Then this young lady stepped out of the office who I assume is a manager. She told front desk to get the customer's name and number and that they will try their best to find tires for the customer. The manager directed front desk to call around shops that they have connections with and see if they can get the tires for that customer. They end up finding the tires and calling the customer back.
I don't know about you but I think that's pretty awesome that they went the extra mile to help this customer when they didn't have to. It was my first time in Charleston and I think I saw what southern hospitality was.
Once my tire was done, my bill came out to a whopping $40.

we are from Connecticut and we needed oil change. We needed a new rotary and brakes, Which mechanic did tell us that we would need soon, and they took care of it for us and gave us amazing service. The inside was very comfortable with a sofa, chairs, Keurig and snacks. Very nice, professional people as well. Thank you for making our car safe again to drive back to Connecticut!

Incredibly nice customer service individuals - but more importantly, unbelievably talented mechanics and technicians. Solved a complex issue 2 other shops spent days trying to diagnose. Excellent work and very good value. Customer waiting area is clean, comfortable, and full of snacks and cold drinks. Highly recommend this place for everything from basic maintenance to complex engine and electrical issues. 6 stars if Google would allow it!

When I looked at the bill for one tire, I thought it was a bit steep. If you use your debit card, there is a 3.06% service charge. It says that nowhere on the counter. That's a rip off to consumers who don't carry the large sum of money to pay for auto repairs. That's certainly not HONEST and I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. Just my HONEST opinion.

Living in Charleston is not cheap however when I called around to get estimates for the front end of my 2004 Tahoe everywhere wanted to charge me too the moon. Adam the Assistant Manager went above and beyond for me and unlike the other 6 mechanic shops he saved me $300 and the employees did excellent work! Thank you Honest 1 Auto Care!!
