November 2024 by tracy Wilkins
March 1,2023 I took my show quality Jaguar XK120 to Fenix. Engine overheated and knocked. They didn’t listen to my experienced mechanic. Decided knock was upper engine. “Fixed it”, put engine back in …still knocked. Sent engine to machine shop “where they get fast top service”. Took a year. They won’t even tell me what was done to the engine! They got it back before June 2024. Promised to put engine in car after July 4 holiday. Lied. It is now November! I have paid every bill on time. Never argued. I have asked repeatedly to talk to the owner (Mike Fitzgerald) he has not returned my calls in a year. His front office lies to me every time I call. Two weeks ago on Friday he “had the flu” and would call Monday. He didn’t call. I called again that week. “Oh . Mike is in Europe for two weeks and can’t call you.” But he really wants to talk to you!.
My name is Tracy Wilkins, I am 81 yrs old. Former University Professor at VaTech and successful serial entrepreneur ( check Google). I am not in Charleston now because of health reasons. (In Blacksburg Va) I send my friends by to try and get answers but they just lie to them. Two months ago they promised my friend he could pick up my car in six weeks. They haven’t started.
Fenix “lost their lease” in the Spring. ( What is the usual reason that a landlord won’t renew a lease?) They first said that they couldn’t put my engine together because of all the dust as they remodeled their new space!
They will not even give me a list of what was done by the machine shop to my engine! When I ask: “ Oh ..Mike will get that for you in two days” never happens!
When I get to feeling better I will try to fly down for a confrontation but the cardiologist warns me to avoid stress!
Do not trust your baby to these guys. They are great talkers. They seem to know the business. But they lie. I likely made a big mistake by prepaying for the engine rebuild. One possibility …..is that maybe they are in financial trouble …so they are fixing other cars to get cash? Anyone know anything?
I just want my car back so my wife doesn’t have to deal with this if I croak. I will likely have to sell it.

Mike, Ron and the team went above and beyond on my windshield replacement. I will never go anywhere else for work on my classic truck (1972)! They were upfront and communicative and did amazing work. My windshield needed replacement and safe lite wouldn’t touch it and most shops didn’t have the skill to replace the vintage windshield properly or deal with the potential rust underneath the original. Fenix certainly did! The truck looks better than it has in a long time and I appreciate them so much. Would highly recommend.

I will not take my 65 Mustang anywhere else. We had the best experience with the Fenix Team. They stuck to the plan and kept our goals for our car in mind throughout the entire restoration.

I had an all around excellent experience with FENIX Automotive. I took my 1980 MG MGB there, and really appreciated the way they went about examining the car, giving me detailed cost and time estimates, and thorough verbal and written explanations of the work needed, and the cost. There were no surprises, I am very happy with the results. Mike, Ron, and Madison, and the rest of the staff…kudos! A bonus was seeing the wonderful facilities and the beautiful work they’ve done on some very interesting projects!

I am the original owner of a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda that was in terrible or sad shape. Had the restoration done at another garage and when I could not
get them to fix several problems I had finally ended up at Fenix. It took them a while but they finally got it fixed to my satisfaction. They explained in detail what the problems were and what they had to do to correct it. They kept me informed and it was a relief to finally deal with a reliable repair facility.

We can’t thank the team of Fenix enough for providing us professional and smooth communication for a couple of our classic vehicles. We have gone to two other shops prior to Fenix claiming to be trustworthy with quality work, but ultimately had to have Fenix fix what the other shop damaged or used poor quality parts. Fenix is worth it!

Took my 67 Galaxie to Fenix for a full restoration. Was in very bad shape. Mike advised me the best way to get it where I wanted. Took a very long time but was made aware that this was going to be the case. They are not the cheapest but you don't want 'CHEAP' when building classic cars. First rate work, just be prepared that restorations take a while.

Held one of our RollsRoyce's for almost 2 years without working on it. We are one of several customers who have been cheated by this company. They took our deposit for parts ordering and when we asked to see the parts or the money, they didn't have either.Gave us our car back with missing pieces and damages.

This company stole a $25k deposit from us and held our vehicle for almost 18 months saying they were "waiting on parts to arrive". Once we realized the parts were never coming (because they never ordered them) we asked for our deposit and car back. They told us "they needed to move some things around and get back to us". We've been calling and asking for the deposit now for over 6 months and they won't return our calls or emails. This company is in serious debt and is stealing money from customers to pay their debts and keep their head above water. They are facing multiple lawsuits. We've filed charges against them as well as a lawsuit.
