A 3 star experience at a 5 star price. As a pet friendly hotel, my bedsheets smell like dog making it apparent the room was not cleaned. Standard rooms are too small for 4 people to coexist.

My wife and I were excited about our trip to Charleston and stay with Emeline hotel but unfortunately, my wife tested positive with COVID at the last minute. For the safety of everyone involved, we did the right thing and cancelled our trip as to not put others at danger. Because of this, we were hoping for the hotel to meet us in the middle on their cancellation policy as we were already going to be losing a lot financially. They stood firm on their corporate policies and did not show any care or willingness to discuss our individual situation for now we are paying for. I understand the no-exceptions mindset from a business perspective but if we would have been treated with any consideration for our real life human and unfortunate health situation, we would have gladly rebooked with them on our rescheduled visit. I hope they reconsider their cancellation policies to include some room for limited exceptions, especially when individuals are trying to make kind and thoughtful decisions that are in their best interest as well.

Looks nice from the outside. But service is really lacking. Could not get change of a $20 from the restaurant or the front desk. We had to upgrade to get away from a closet sized room. We were with friends whose room was not cleaned one day; when the spoke to the front desk, they just shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing that could be done. They had to be very insistent to get clean towels.Free coffee was removed from the downstairs bar/restaurant at 9 am on one day and at 9:30 am another day. We had to ask for menus for breakfast which took a while to arrive. Food was ok.It ended up being very expensive (about $500/night) with the upgrade and the myriad of taxes.

Everything at the Emeline is about service and charm. Its a larger hotel but retains a boutique feel. The staff was phenomenal at every encounter and the location is as perfect as it gets if you are visiting from our of town and trying to figure out where to stay.We were upgraded to a 2 story room on the courtyard with a 1st floor entrance. Huge bathroom and shower, great bed. The only knock on the layout was that the sitting room downstairs felt a bit dated and was dark so did not spend much time there, but nice to have the extra space. The retro record player was a cool concept but did not actually work very well. Lastly, no in room coffee. You have to go either into the lobby in the morning or Nespresso machines on all the other floors to use anytime of day.Enough nitpicking. We loved our stay and would stay again. Maybe not the best value in Charleston but worth it.

A MESS !!! Terrible experience!!! We booked a room for a wedding and the rooms are tiny, dated, and the shower had dirty grout/tile.We had been traveling all day when we realized the room we were in played VERY LOUD music at 10pm when we were trying to sleep. We called the front desk and they stated they couldn’t move us and gave us a 200$ hotel credit. We Tried to use the credit at Frannie and the Fox, but the food was cold. Tried to get fresh food but by that time kitchen was closed. So basically we got a small, dark, dirty, overpriced hotel room. Not worth itRooms: Decent but dated. Could use a refreshWalkability: This is a great locationFood & drinks: Cold.

Easily one of the most charming hotels with the best food and service in the entire East Coast. The food here alone is worth coming, even if you don’t get a chance to stay.Rooms are immaculate with spacious bathrooms and housekeeping is available.Larger spaces are available as well for private events and the staff is always attentive.Easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, would definitely come back.

It’s hard to describe the feeling when you walk in the front door of this wonderful establishment but you feel like you are home away from home is the best way I can describe it. And then the wonderful fragrance hits you it is subtle but present you are sitting there thinking how did they get this initial impression so right! Bravo on just about everything top to bottom you will not be disappointed.

A fun unique hotel. Beautiful mid-century modern/boho interiors and decor. Very well located relative to Market, sites, restaurants, bars, and shopping. Beds and linens are luxurious, as are hotel-provided toiletries. Service is kind and gracious, lots of classic Charleston hospitality. Have stayed there multiple times, will again.

Everything we could ask for in a hotel. The rooms have a mad men vibe to them. We got lucky and got upgraded to a suite. The washroom was huge (just the way I like em). They had a sparkling water dispenser! They had bikes you can use for getting around. The location was perfect!Nearby activities: There's a horse carriage tour that this hotel is affiliated with and you get a 30% discount. The city market is right next door.King Street is nearby for your shopping needs.

We truly loved our stay at the Emeline. The valets were amazing even grabbing a car when they were headed to clock out. Linens were out of this world and I even looked into buying the sheets (Montauk is the brand). The only down side to our stay was the area, believe it or not. There is a company set up on Market Street, just around the corner from Emeline that is scamming tourists everyday. They have two locations on Market St, so you can’t go either direction from the hotel to avoid them. They will apply the most aggressive sales tactics and if you cave they will sell you fake products that make you have severe allergic reactions. The locals all know about these two shops and I wish the hotel would have warned us.We can’t wait to come back, but we will cross the street to avoid those two store fronts at 61 Market Street and just on the other side of the hotel by the sweet shop near 86/88 Market Street.

Overall nice place to stay with a good location. The only real complaint I have are with two amenities/policies that staff seem to not be familiar with and could not/did not provide even when asked about. 1) listed under the pet policy is "Included in our Pawsome Package is a custom-made dog treat by our in-house pastry chef, dog mat, bowl and comfy bed.". I called prior to arrival to make sure staff were aware I had a pet travelling with me. Upon arrival there was no mention of this package which I assumed was in the room. It was not. I asked the front desk about it and they said stuff would be brought to the room. All we received was one dog bowl and nothing else. Far from expectation and what was described. Secondly, the described "Welcome cocktail at check-in, crafted by Frannie & The Fox" was also never provided. The staff was courteous and friendly, but if these policies are listed on the hotel website then as an upscale and pricey hotel the policies should be followed through without having to inquire and staff should be aware of these.Nearby activities: Close the all downtown activitiesSafety: Safe and secure.Walkability: Very walkable to local attractionsFood & drinks: Has food and beverage on site

Emeline is a beautiful hotel in the historic district. Located just off the lively Charleston City Market, the area is very walkable with a lot of shops and food options. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The rooms are nicely appointed, and mine had a separate sitting area with a record player and refrigerator. They provide glass water bottles that are refillable at the water station by the elevator on each floor. My stay was fantastic, and I would happily stay here again. There is an onsite restaurant, coffee shop, gift shop, and parking.

Emeline was a delightful stay. Our room was clean and had luxe plumbing fixtures with elegant design features throughout the hotel and room. The restaurant in the hotel had great pizza, and the coffee shop Clerks within it had good options. The staff was friendly and offered a welcome drink for us upon arrival and the hotels branding transcended throughout the marketing materials, scent, and design choices. Bravo!

One of the best hotels on our US Road trip.We were warmly welcomed by Justin at the front desk. An accommodating and helpful employee at the hotel who gave us recommendations as well as helped immediately with a small problem with the TV.Without his friendly manner, we might not have extended for one night. 5 stars for Justin and the hotel!Unfortunately, there was a small problem with the extension the next day. However, this was solved professionally. An extraordinary charm in the hotel room is created by the record player including some records you can listen to.You can borrow bikes for 2h for free. Absolute recommendation to explore Charleston. We would definitely stay here again. Not quite cheap, but worth the price. But you should not compare it with what you would get in Europe for that price.
