I have mixed reviews of the different higher end snacks I bought, recently from a local venue... the brand is Charleston's Own. Spent about $40 on all 4, together. Let's start off with the positive. Charleston is a beautiful city with lots of historical architecture. While visiting, came across many venues selling this brand and decided to partake in what appears to be a Charleston staple with a southern flair and cute packaging. Let's start with my favorite of the 4 items I purchased... the BENNE WAFERS. Small and flat, these delightful wagers are a little sweet and a hint of sesame... an adult snack right up my alley. Next, is the Lowcountry Okra Chips... I generally like all okra, no matter how it is prepared... although, fried is my favorite... so, I took the leak to try the "dried" version. Never saw this before. I will say, it's not horrible but there is a hint of sweet that is not normally associated with okra, so I just can't get past that. I want to love them but the touch of sweet throws it off for me. Don't get me wrong, he texture is unique but I'm good with it. So, the next two items are the ginger cookies and cheese zingers. I normally love both of these type products but both of these are just off! Surely, there is a way to improve these. For the price, you would think they would be fantastic but no. The texture is off and the flavors are not great. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I love this company.. The pecan praline cookies were super fresh and I could tell they were freshly made the day of shipping. Same w/the pecans. The benne wafers were awesome, good w/either honey, jelly, or peanut butter I put on them. The black beans were very tasty as well. There were lots of different products to order.

I initially ordered several (72 of three different items) from Charleston Specialty foods for my daughter’s upcoming wedding. The order included one extra item which was inadvertently not included in the order when I picked it up. I then placed an order for an additional 10 of the same items. When I went back in to pick up the second order, I mention that the first order was missing an item. I was told repeatedly that it was definitely in the box. So here I am in the store having to repeatedly defend myself after having spent over $1300.00. I was pretty much accused of lying by an employee or maybe the owner about a $6.75 item. I will never patronize this place again. And I can’t say I will be having good things to say about them in the future.

Love ordering from Charleson Specialty Foods. They always have unique items and gifts with great customer service. We love to get our Low country food fix from Chicago. Amazing Grits, Key lime cookies, Benne Wafers, Peach Butter, candied jalapeños, honeys, and hot sauce. Their gift baskets are always a hit too!

You guys have THE BEST TAFFY I've EVER TASTED!!! We live in Oregon and while in S.Carolina for a wedding, my siblings bought me some. I will never eat taffy anywhere else. We're suppose to have the best salt water taffy....until there was you! I'm so thankful they are online to deliver!!!

A very nice and homey little shop. Their selection encompasses the south in such a delicate manner. I was in and out with what I needed while aided by a very kind and welcoming gentleman. This is a great place to frequent when sending gifts to friends who no longer live in Charleston!

Second State is a great little coffee shop. The toasts & waffles are delicious!! The pour over I had was incredible. I loved the hint of blueberry & chocolate in the coffee. We will definitely be back!

I bought some crystal pendants from Reiki silvanus and He was wonderful. He was so helpful and patient, nothing was too much trouble. I love my pendants and highly recommend Him for His spell and love Reading. Thank you Dr Silver. x

Second State is a great little coffee shop. The toasts & waffles are delicious!! The pour over I had was incredible. I loved the hint of blueberry & chocolate in the coffee. We will definitely be back!

Awesome selection of lowcountry gifts -- selection includes local roasted peanuts (sriracha, salt and pepper, bbq), heirloom popcorn, rice, cheese zingers, ginger snaps, benne wafers, teas, wines, coffees, bloody mary mixes, frozen mixers, oils, salsas, sauces, dry seasonings/spices, jams, jellies, salt water taffy, potato chips, chocolates, meat/seafood breadders, etc. They also have mugs, kitchenware, and other kitschy but quality Charleston themed home decor. Definitely stop in and see Jonathan for great customer service!!

This place was just a delight from the minute I stepped in the door, just to check it out. It's a very small shop, but their selection is impeccable. Great place to shop for local goods and souvenirs (not just to give but to keep for yourself!). The prices are reasonable enough for you to feel like you can treat yourself without feeling guilty. The woman running the place could not have been friendlier, or more helpful. We chatted about many of the products, and she never made me feel like I was taking up her time. Very nice. P.S. You must try the local Honey!

As a native South Carolinian, I thought that a little southern meal would be the best possible gift: warmth and love! Breakfast biscuits, pancakes, grits, ham and soups for my friends in the cold northeast! I ordered online and also needed to call for several questions. This team was amazing. Friendly, helpful, quick and so professional! While I wish I could have been in Charleston to purchase the goodies personally, I had an amazing experience ordering from afar. Highly recommend this company for easy gifts and special moments... share a little love from Charleston!
