It's only 10 mins drive from the city so not bad , my issue with this hotel was the rooms , most of them smelled really bad like mold and humidity, I had to change my room but 2nd room was just touch better, I heard the same complaint from other people. Very friendly staff and nice lobby.

What a mixed bag of highs and lows on this visit to this Marriott. The highs were Cheryle and Jenny. The lows were Mark the bartender and Keith. My husband was here for a convention for three days and I stayed the last night. Upon arrival the fourth floor smelled awful. I went to say something and Keith said the front desk had no idea and no one else complained. He was nice however he seemed to act as though I was crazy. Cheryle came over quickly and explained that they were aware and offered to move us however I said I’d only one night left I would stay put. I went to aqua for wings and a bikini martini. They allow smoking at ALL outside spots even where is dining and though Marriott claims to be green they do not have a designated area and there were two men smoking two cigars. Mark the bartender was snippy when they got something minor wrong and I asked nicely for the correct ordered item. Why not sure?! The bathroom in our room was tiny. Overall some of the staff made it nicer and the Starbucks was really well made and delicious and the Grind. I would not stay here again not many things easy to reach by walking except a few restaurants and Publix. Pool looked nice and clean. Gym had equipment and fair number of treadmills.Rooms: Lower floors smell awful!

I'm 100% positive we could of paid for two nights some where else at the same price as one night here and been better off. Rooms are lack luster, very plain. Rooms are small. No microwave. "Free HBO channels " don't load even though it says " included no subscription needed". No bath tubs or conjoined rooms. No hot tub. Overpriced food. Steak only comes well done. I don't foresee my coworkers reserving this venue again.Elevator requires a room key but none of the entrances do. Elevator card reader doesn't always work either. Very fickle.

Great place to stay but the rooms were run down and room smelled like hairspray. Furniture did not match. However the service they gave made up for the odd rooms. The bar on the 3rd floor was great but be prepared to spend top dollar for drinks. Lobby and restaurant was very clean and the food was decent. The area was great and there was a few rental bikes to use.Nearby activities: The AA ball park is in walking distance.Safety: The place felt safe. It was next to the police station.Walkability: Very easy to walk around town and if you rent a bike it is cheaper than a Uber.

To start off the hotel hallways reeked of latrine water, which was not something I even had complained about. Yet worse than that was the snippy-ness and attitude from the Guest Services Representative, Jenny. The other young lady (I apologize for not remembering your name, it started with an L) was so incredibly sweet and helpful. We had a very small dilemma that had already been resolved when Jenny decided to jump in without a preference of who or what she was with a terrible attitude. She made it very apparent that her intentions to win the “disagreement” if it could even be called that. Ma’am 8 am is far too early to be so upset. Especially with a paying guest. I hope you have a better day Jenny.

EDIT: We have been guests at this Marriott at least 6 times this college year ending May 2024 and have grown to really enjoy it. It’s become like a “home away from home!” The service and staff are remarkable.Thank you, Charleston Marriott! We spent two nights here while touring colleges July 9 & 10, 2021. It’s very close to The Citadel. The beds were very comfortable, the self-parking was free, great customer service from the front desk and housekeeping, all over good value and very accommodating. It was nice having coffee & easy breakfast pastries right downstairs. For an easy in and out, l’d recommend staying here. There was a wedding the weekend l was there and it didn’t cause any problems for us. The best part is there’s a Publix grocery store almost next door and super convenient! That is a huge plus for families with kids.Walkability: Located next to a Publix grocery store.Food & drinks: Available to buy from front desk or restaurantNoteworthy details: This property is always clean, comfortable and welcoming!

Dissapointing experience especially as a Marriott Bonvoy member. We arrived on Friday, May 2nd to a room that did not seem to be fully cleaned. There was pubic hair in the shower from what seemed to be the night before and there were little black pieces of fuzzies, or bug skin or something along those lines. The Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash in the shower were about a quarter of the way full which only reinforces the idea the room was not cleaned prior to us coming. Within the bathroom, there were also white towels that had smudges of black make up run through them. We had asked the front desk to send us new towels multiple times. Cleanliness was a big issue in the hotel for us and it is a shame considering we traveled so far for it.On Saturday, May 4th there was a water outtage from 12 PM at night to (what we thought would be) 2AM in the morning. The water did not come back on until 3:45AM in the morning. This was EXTREMELY inconvenient considering we were there for a wedding event (alongside many other hotel guests). The main issue is not so much the water outtage, but rather the time we were told it would be back on so we could properly plan to shower and use the restroom after a night of wedding activities.

This room is sooooo tiny. I feel closterphobic. And I thought that a "high floor" as described meant balcony according to the website pics.

Went to attend the Navy Submarine Birthday Ball, so didn't need a room, so I can't evaluate that part. Overall the staff was very helpful in pointing us to the room where we would be and the bartenders was great.

First impressions. Valet /bellman was awesome. Although, addition $22 per day to park. Rooftop bar was never open. Main bar was a good lunch spot.Rooms: Had a standard 2 queen room which was nice. Beds are super comfortable. Bathroom space is tiny.Walkability: The elevator is in the middle of the hotel. So if disabled (as I am) it is a long long walk.Noteworthy details: The staff at the front desk were awesome. I left a wedding gift in the room when I checked out. The housekeeper had already notified the desk and the package was held at security for me to pick up. No hassle, just effective, outstanding service.
