I walked in to test drive and buy a car I saw online. Service was quick and friendly. I’ve had my fill of car negotiations throughout the years and am completely satisfied with the CarMax experience. This is my second purchase through CarMax and this location. Though I walked in for my test drive, I would recommend an online appointment to test drive to avoid the 20 minute or so wait time. Convenient location and ample parking.

Stephen was awesome as a salesperson, but the rest of the process has been a nightmare.
Some DMV “hack” meant they couldn’t process my plate transfer (or issue new plates) the day I picked the car up, so their solution was to just put my old plate (from my trade in) on the new car and told me if I had any issues to just present my paperwork to any law enforcement, should that situation present itself. They also said they’d FedEx me my temporary plate when the system was back up and running, but instead I received a text from their business office telling me I had to drive 30 miles back to the dealership to pick up my temporary plate in person.
Speaking of my trade in, we’re now 18 days after the purchase, and they still haven’t paid my previous loan off. I’ll probably end up making two car payments this month (on a car that Carmax has had possession of for 18 days) and EVENTUALLY get reimbursed.
First and last time working with Carmax.

From the moment that we stepped through the door, our experience at Carmax was a pleasant and enjoyable one. Anetia our Salesperson Was very pleasant and nice and helpful starting off the process through the completion of it. Omar Who test drove our car and checked it out was entertaining and very nice. Shalonda in the business office who completed our paperwork and financial process, was also exceptionally nice and considerate. All in all the process of Carmax, selling our car to them with a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend Our business dealing with Carmax Charleston.

Was thinking of purchasing from them but reconsidering. I know someone who is currently is having a very difficult time purchasing a vehicle from them. He tried to do a quick pickup and purchase of vehicle by doing as much as he could beforehand. No one followed through on making that happen. He got there at appointment and no one knew he had one, had problems getting the car for him to test drive. Things weren't working properly and it took hours to make his purchase and leave. Before 10 days were up vehicle left him stranded and it had to be towed no rental car came. Had to get a ride from a friend after waiting hours in the heat and trying to walk. Didn't like the answer the mechanic shop had to say was wrong with it, being involved in working on vehicles his whole life knew it was much more wrong than what was said and repaired. So gave it back and had another car shipped in and it was broken when the salesmen called to tell him it was in and sorry is broken down and sending it out to get repaired. he has options to choose another, wait on this one for repair, or wait several weeks to have his money mailed back to him. I’m not going to deal with them. I mean a apologies are fine but don’t fix the situation. The whole process has taken a very long time . He’s decided to try yet another car. Guess we’ll see. I feel he’s due more than just apologies.

Overall, I had a pleasant experience with Carmax. Anicka (not sure I spelled that right) was great, as were all the people who helped me during the checkout process. There was a slight miscommunication about the tag transfer, but Carmax made it right and refunded me the difference between the new tag and the tag transfer. They were also very kind to me throughout the process. I would buy another car here.

Not a happy customer at all and would not recommend brakes go out after two days the list goes on…it’s all about sales and commissions I guess put a band aid on it

I bought a car there back in 2016 with Cory I am very satisfied with him and the service I received that I went back today to buy another vehicle and Cory still works there I was very pleased I don't like pushy sales people and Cory isn't like that he is funny patient and understanding he gets 10? rating

Although I did not go through with a purchase here, Malachi was extremely helpful and great to work with. I had a car transferred to this location, and he did not hesitate to assist whenever I needed it. Having purchased a vehicle at this location before, I never experienced any issues at all. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone, and would happily refer them to Malachi as well.

My experience was wonderful everything streamlined ready to go was there 30 minutes to buy my car ? Mr. Jacob was a delight to work with and was very clear on all parts of the car ? buying process and informative. I received everything I ask for. Bought a car there in October 2023, and now not even a year later, I need a whole new transmission. The car they sold me has been nothing but trouble. Since I bought it I've had multiple coolant leaks that no one could fix. Would never by from there again.
