This hotel is obviously very nice in many ways. Absolutely beautiful building, very upscale shopping and dining, lovely rooms, and wonderful staff. Unfortunately, we are visiting during reconstruction and all day long we have to listen to the sound of heavy construction from our room on the 3rd floor. Hammering, drilling, maybe a jackhammer? It’ll calm down for an hour or so here and there, but basically from 8am to late afternoon it’s happening, which isn’t great when you’re trying to get a baby down for a nap.
I would say definitely stay at this hotel, but not until after spring of 2025 when renovations are completed.
Safety: Very safe location
Walkability: Everything is walkable from here, very nice location.

Without a doubt … the best hotel in Charleston .. what’s not to like ? Beautiful , great staff , top notch restaurants and shopping .. luxury bedding . Beautiful gardens and best location for visitors .

The hotel is in a wonderful location but unfortunately it is being renovated and we were unaware when booking that the pool would be CLOSED. My children were extremely disappointed as this was the main reason we chose The Charleston Place. The AC in our room was extremely loud and overall the stay was subpar. We feel duped to have paid top dollar to stay there while under construction. I’m sure it’ll be beautiful once compete, but I’d recommend staying elsewhere or getting a discounted rate.

Can't say enough about the staff at Charleston Place. Check-in to check-out everything was fantastic. We stayed on the club level had excellent food and enjoyed the cocktails with Theresa, Arnold and all the other members of the team. I wish i knew their names to recognize all. Old fashioned were top notch! Housekeeping and Alonzo's team were great as well. We took our time each day leaving, they were so accomadating with one phone call! The room was great, the location was perfect as we walked everywhere.
Walkability: Perfect location to shopping and all the best dining. King street, battery....everything within 10 min walk.
Food & drinks: Stay on the club level if you can, allows you access to great food and drink. Good breakfast, light dinner, tea time snacks....everything was great.

Honestly, it's gone downhill. A few years ago the club level didn't skimp on desserts and snacks and the like. I was shocked at how pitiful the offerings are now.
Also, the a/c barely works and the sink drains slow. These are Motel 6 problems. If you pay a lot, you expect a lot. And they just don't deliver anymore

Excellent weekend at Charleston Place. Surprise weekend getaway to a classy hotel which pays attention to details. Room was immaculate, turn down service, night time towel refresh, waters stocked, nespresso machine . The spa could use a few other options for experiences ( steam, plunge etc) and the quiet room isn’t actually quiet -right next to the pool. But the massage was world class. Excellent staff at every turn. From concierge to the transportation desk. Hidden gem at the meeting room bar. Delicious food. Overall 5 stars for esthetic, service and comfort .

Omg. The best! The Palmetto restaurant is a must. Book early to get a reservation as it fills up quickly. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is relaxing. SInce you are here, treat yourself to a nice breakfast bar. It will not disappoint.

Fantastic hotel, super friendly and attentive staff. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Location is perfect for walking around downtown Charleston.
