The Big Red Barn Retreat was built in honor of Leon Irons, who passed away in 2009. Leon served in the Navy out of high school before beginning a successful career in the restaurant business. His family still operates the Sonic Drive-Ins in the Columbia area, as well as some other markets. To honor his life and his love of country, his family opened The Big Red Barn Retreat to help our military in need of healing find peace. The Big Red Barn Retreat is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The sustainability of the Big Red Barn Retreat is made possible by our community partners who support our efforts, and in turn, support our military from across the state and beyond. We are sincerely grateful for their support! These organizations have shown through their donations to the Big Red Barn Retreat that they truly care and want to help Veterans and Active-Duty service members live their best life.Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion StatementVeterans, Active-Duty military, First Responders and their families are welcome to attend BRBR programs regardless of race, color, ancestry, sex, gender, religion, national origin, age, actual or perceived physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, status as a victim of domestic violence or any other classification. The Big Red Barn Retreat stands in solidarity with our employees, our clients, our partners and colleagues to end injustice and racism. We believe ALL clients are worthy of being treated in a warm, caring and respectful manner. The vulnerable populations with which The Big Red Barn Retreat works deserves courtesy, kindness, compassion and sensitivity. The dignity and worth of each individual are honored in all interactions.

It's an absolutely amazing experience to be at The Big Red Barn Retreat. I attended the Warrior PATHH training. Designed for veterans and first responders who are struggling in life, Pathh - Progressive and Alternative Training for Helping Heroes - has helped me in ways that no counseling or medication could.I feel alive again. I have new purpose in life. My relationships are stronger and deeper. Instead of just struggling from one day to the next, I am learning how to experience growth and strength. If you are a veteran or first responder and you want....need to change, I encourage you to take that first step and contact The Big Red Barn Retreat.

Great experience for young teens.A great learning experience all-around.Campers will learn to walk, groom, and train service dogs with techniques they can bring home to the family pet; to walk and groom horses; and to grow and identify different vegetables. There are also times during the week for arts&crafts and movies. The camp is B.Y.O.L. (Bring Your Own Lunch) and B.Y.O.W. (Bring Your Own Water).Parents/guardians must pay for their children to go to the camp, but each camper will receive a free camp t-shirt, treat bag, and name tag.Treat bags are a one time deal per camper.
