Cancellation should not be a difficult process.

I have been a member of Golds Gym for 8 years and then it changed to Max Fitness. I haven't used my membership in 2 years and decided to cancel my membership. Did what the front desk employees told me to do and said all was canceled. 3 months later I get a report from my credit karma that my payments have been sent to collections. Call the manager and they said would call me back 3 days ago. I paid my collection bill off to get it off my credit but this is terrible service. I was also told the front desk staff does not know how the cancelations work so if that is so why are they allowed to handle these kind of situation. People beware go to Planet Fitness if you want a gym member ship. NOT HERE

I've been a member for more than 3 years and I've been hoping things will get better. The reason I joined this gym is because they have a sauna, but for the last 3 years the sauna has been working on and off. The temperature is not constant. Sometime is good sometimes is too low. Complaining to the staff never helped. Beside that, take a look at how the sauna looks like. Attached some pictures I took yesterday. The problem is that has been like that since I joined. I'm wondering what would take for them to clean it. I'm usually not picky but I'll let you be the judge of that. The reason I'm going with 2 starts and not only one is because the sauna still works. Beside cleaning the ancient dirt in the sauna, would be nice if management would spend the money to get a new sauna stove. It's has been due for a replacements since it was Gold's Gym. I hope the management or anybody that has the power to change things or cares about the customers will see this and take action. The steam room smells like mold. I don't know how people can use it. It seems like a heath hazard. I'm willing to change the review if things get corrected., but I doubt it will get fixed...we'll see.

At least 20% of the equipment is broken or unusable. You have to go searching for clips/d rings any time you want to use the cable machines which half are missing the pins to choose/hold the weight selected.

My wife is a new member and she did not sign up for any personal training. The gym started charging us $80 (3 times so far). Its been a month and no refund. Tried to reach the manager and left a message and no call back. Charging new members for services they didn’t sign up for seems to be a trend here.

This is one the gyms best features. After hitting your workout hard ask the front desk for a hydro massage chair! It will be the best thing you do even on your rest days just come in and relax in a dark room it’s so relaxing and refreshing.

I've been a member of Max Fitness Gym for some time now, and I have to say it's been a fantastic journey. The gym is well-equipped with modern machines and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist with any questions. I've seen great progress in my fitness goals since joining. The variety of classes they offer is also a plus. Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned gym-goer, Max Fitness has something to offer. Highly recommended!

Gym is dirty, equipment is always broken, cables are always snapping on people and then left rendered useless for months because they won’t fix it. They get away with all of this because they are the only “good” gym in Aiken. Dont come here unless you want to get hurt because of a lack of maintenance and care.

Best Gym in Aiken ..... But it's almost not open on the weekends. I work 7am to 7pm so can't go at all on Saturday or Sundays. Beyond that it's a great gym.

Every gym is going to have issues but overall this gym handles things better than most and equipment is going to break it happens in a busy gym but it gets fixed and they have really nice equipment compared to most places. I read some of the negative reviews and just thought they needed a positive review. This place and staff is pretty top of the line.

New member. The initial sign up was a one star. I had an inexperienced staff person making the process tedious and long. I had intended to sign up for the 2 years, but learned they had month-to-month at higher rate. Considering the confusion at sign-up, I’m glad I didn’t commit to 2 years. Plus, I was supposed to get 1st month free but they charged my card two days later, so I had to go through the annoyance of speaking to an often unavailable manager to get the charge removed. As for the facility, it’s not bad. I’ve belonged to higher quality clubs—cleaner and better maintained, but Max is very close to home, and provides enough.I’ll decide by first of 2023 whether to commit to 2 years for lower rate.

EDIT: 1 Star updated to 3 StarNew member, was supposed to get my first month free as I had a free month slip, the girl who I assume was new and didn't understand what I was trying to tell her/forced a fee to use the free month slip and ended up charging me $85.99. I've been calling each day since then and I haven't heard anything back from them, this very upsetting as I was a nervous wreck and was unsure as to what to do or say. Will update if my situation is resolved. *My Gmail name is not my real name**EDIT #1*Was finally able to get in touch with the manager, she refunded my money and was really friendly as it was a big mix-up, once my money is fully refunded and hits my account I'll update to 4 stars.Other than the mix up, Max is a rather nice gym, they do have some down machines but the ones the do have are great, their pool could use some work but is great overall, I would recommend Max for any gym goers who are very serious about working out.

I came in the gym around 1am 09/01/23 and I hear them Playing the controversial “ Small Town” “Sundown” song in the gym… been at this gym for years but that’s just bad for business. This song is well known to have controversial views from the minorities side

Staff refuses to refund. They tell you to email another staff member in charge of cancellation and it will take up to 30 days..... Been 30 plus days and staff won't give me her phone number or corporate number. Megan, the manager won't even pick up the phone to talk to me personally. The gym is dirty, machines aren't maintained......
