We need more places like this. The lady there gave us a tour in a golf cart and told us all about the rescued horses, donkeys and ponies. She also let us feed pieces of carrots to the friendlier ones. The animals are well taken care of.

You would never know this place was just a few minutes from downtown Aiken and Augusta, as it feels like it is hours away from the hustle and bustle of any city. To get here you pass through gorgeous wooden countryside and it is tucked away on a big hill where you quickly forget about cars and anything else. You can come here to see and pet the horses for free or volunteer and provide much needed help to this great group. Kids love the horses and it is a fun way to spend a few hours. You can easily walk around the smaller pastures on the hill, or they also offer a golf cart tour of the larger pastures that you can take. Overall a great place and something worth seeing!

Great place. You can tell they really care for their horses. While I was there they were working with a community organization for disabled children. Very nice volunteers.

Looking for a place to unwind and relax...to enjoy the scenery...or maybe just have a want to volunteer...or looking to adopt a horse...this is the place to be. The 90 acre (including private residence area) equine rescue serves most of the Eastern Coast to include Puerto Rico by taking in retired race horses; horses, mules and donkeys that have been abused or neglected; and horses, mules and donkeys that have been surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them. They also do some private boarding. Visiting hours are typically 9am to 1pm Monday through Saturday. The director entices you to visit and bring family to just have a picnic or visit the horses. And being on the crest of the 2nd highest hill in the area gives a majestic, breathtaking view. Come here and you won't be disappointed.
