Kenyon's Grist Mill is a charming and historic family business located on the banks of the Queen River in West Kingston, Rhode Island. It has been a local favorite for many decades, known for its high-quality grain products and mixes that stand out from store-bought options. Visitors and locals alike love the Johnny Cake Meal, which has been a staple in households since childhood, often used to make delicious Johnny Cakes with butter and maple syrup. The mill still operates as a working mill, grinding grains from local farmers, though now it runs on electricity instead of water power. While tours of the mill are not always available, visitors can enjoy the beautiful water views and browse a gift store filled with local goods, jams, mixes, and souvenirs. The business is praised for its welcoming staff and the nostalgic, old-time New England atmosphere. Many customers have been loyal for years, purchasing mixes like pancake, corn muffin, clam cake, and Boston brown bread flour, often giving them as gifts or sharing with friends and family. The products are considered superior to store-bought items, with some reviewers praising the clam cake mix as the best they've used. Overall, Kenyon's Grist Mill is a beloved spot that offers quality products, a glimpse into local history, and a warm, friendly experience for all who visit.
