I live in Boston, and I mailed in my 50-year-old Pentax K1000 to be serviced. Mark was quick and communicative, and I received my camera back in a timely manner after it was cleaned. I can now see clearly through the viewfinder, and I can’t wait to use it to take photos, especially this holiday season! I really appreciate Mark’s care and attention and will be using Midstate again for my camera in the future. ?

Just before I went to take a photo with my Pentax K1000, the light meeter dial on the top of my camera screwed off and I was suddenly in a panic. I spent an hour calling different camera places around me and they all told me to send my camera here. The communication was swift but only through email, the phone always alway always sent me to voicemail, which is my own complaint about this place. I sent my camera off to get repaired and it went all smoothly until I open the package and examined my camera to find that during shipment, the UV lens got damaged even with a new lens cap on. I was once again in a panic! I called and I feel bad now that I sounded so upset, but they were very apologetic and did not mean for the camera to be damaged and sent me a free of charge UV lens. Other than the damaged UV lens, they repaired my light meter dial as good as new and did a cleaning on it too! I truly do recommend this place if you have a camera that can’t be fixed at normal camera shops. They have great service (besides their phone). I will be sending my camera here again in the future if I have another problem.

helpful in determining the problem with my camera after it + tripod fell in Norway. Was honest about the cost and what I options I had, told me that it probably wasnt worth repairing given price of a new body.

this shop is always closed and no one answers the phone, there is no voicemail option and no one returns emails. very disappointing. service is good when lightning strikes.

Mark is incredibly professional, very reasonably priced and super personable. Brought my om-1 in for a cleaning/repair and am super happy with the results. Had a great chat with him picking up my camera and he was also able to recommend some outreach options for local film development. Will definitely go back for future film camera needs.

I wouldn't want to visit any other place to fix any of my camera parts. Mark is very professional and has a well-versed knowledge of multiple types of camera parts.
If you are looking for someone to fix camera lenses or DSLR cameras, I have to highly recommend him!

Recently I came in with a Canon AE1 that just needed some general upkeep from aging. Not only did Mark listen to some of my concerns, he did a quick rundown of the camera and noticed the shutter sounded off right away and let me hear the difference with another AE1. Got my camera back with new light seals, a much much cleaner viewfinder and lens. (And new lens cover!) I’m definitely glad I listened to my friend and let Midstate take a look for me! Thanks!!!

I recently had Mark at Midstate Camera Repair clean and change the light leak foams and mirror damper cushion on my 42-year-old Nikon FM. While the camera had worked flawlessly ever since I bought it, I had not used it for the last 6-8 years with the advent of digital photography and the accompanying decline in film. The foam in the light seals and the mirror damper were starting to give. Mark did a really all-round good job: changing the light seals and the mirror damper, cleaning the viewfinder, checking the shutter speeds, and my FM that I always considered an engineering marvel is as good as new. Mark is a thorough professional and I appreciated his dedication to customer service. He totally understands the emotional connection that we have to our beloved film cameras, especially the ones we learned on. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Mark and Midstate in Providence, RI for any repairs on cameras.
