“My husband loves to read, We stopped at this Barnes & Noble store in Warwick last week to check out some of the new paperbacks, gift items and magazines. I think many people today rely on electronic information and they don't stop at bookstores like they used to....but there's something about holding a book, a magazine or some stationary that makes the experience more memorable. The store was huge and it had a large parking lot that was shared with many other businesses. A great place to spend a few minutes or even a few hours just browsing....”

“I had to drive from CT to RI to get my clergy robe. Nobody in CT had them in stock; I mean nobody. I called the staff in advance, they grabbed one and put it to the side for me and it was at the register waiting when I got there.”

“This place is really such a gem. I’m fairly new to sobriety and have found that this is my favorite place to go on a Friday night. Open till 12am I can hang out and read and write and drink coffee and feel like I’m “out” but not be triggered by a super alcohol heavy atmosphere. The inside is lovely and cozy and I love the patio area too. Cleaned and well maintained and an interesting selection of books. I can’t attest to the cocktails but the coffees have been good & the truffle popcorn was a good little snack. The staff have always been welcoming and helpful as well. Highly recommend :)Parking: Parking is easy I have always found a space in the lot on a Friday night and there is ample free street parking close too.”

“A mixed used & new book store. I’d hoped for a larger number of used but they have a fairly wide selection for the size! They also have some records, a really nice/large cookbook section, and journals.”

“Lovecraft-themed bookstore located in the Arcade in downtown Providence. It’s small, but if you like reading horror stories, want to learn more about Lovecraft, or are looking for a gift for someone who loves the macabre, it has everything you could ask for. In addition to books, they sell posters, postcards, figurines, and more. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and are clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about Lovecraft and horror in general. Cool place to visit, would definitely recommend!”

“I was so graciously greeted by Nicole (I only remembered because that's my daughter's name lol) She was so very nice and really helpful. I immediately felt her sincerity. I bought a selenite crystal, a large, beautiful Abalone shell and a Citrine tealight candle holder. I forgot & left without buying some sage I wanted, so I'll definitely be going back sooner than later. Thank you, Nicole...this job is perfect for you; you are a true gem!! ??”

“I think I actually walked into heaven. Literally. :-) the bookstore was a dream. They are able to point out and make recommendations in any genre. And their book curation is diverse in authorship and topic. There’s also a book club that I wish was virtual so I could hang out with these amazing people. Highly recommend!”

“This was my second time at the Waterfire Art Center for an event. This time I attended Little City Thrifty Vintage event. There were many vendors with beautiful vintage fashion clothing, shoes, decors that you could choose from or just walk around to meet many of the business owners to know more about their shops location if you weren't able to make a purchase at that time. I did a whole walk around.”

“I was looking for a gift for my daughter, but they did not have the books I was looking for. They ordered it for me, and I had it in two days. They even gift wrapped it. I prefer brick and mortar over online. It's a more personal experience.”

“An amazing gem! Filled with beautifully presented and thoughtfully curated books (twenty highlighted stories per month), kind staff, as well as journals, local art/products made by RISD grads, tees, puzzles and much more. There's something here for everyone. Unexpectedly, we particularly loved the books in their kids section. Very dog friendly, always a plus. Loved it so much that we will be sure to stop by next time we're down from Boston.”

“Super neat place with loads of books from a variety of authors including local authors which I find so cool! There are a variety of genres to choose from, and there's definitely something for everyone. There is parking available too across the street from Slater Mill if you do drive in (I provided a photo of the lot), and the staff is so friendly and helpful and I will definitely be back.”

“Bookstores are like catnip to me, and Paper Nautilus might very well be my favorite bookstore. Their selection is top notch, and the prices are really incredible for what they offer. The curation of titles they have will surprise you, and all of their books are in excellent condition. No writing on the inside - it's amazing what they're able to offer and at such a generous price point.”

“Check out the Sensational Child's retail store with a huge selection of products for children and adults with disabilities. Nice playroom for your child to enjoy while you shop. Ask about the Diaper Program.”

“Amazing spot! Art plus books plus snacks! When I visited today I was the only person in the store and was totally free to browse and enjoy the art and books. They had an amazing collection of retablos by Peruvian artist Zuly Palomino as well as work by other artists. I did not partake of any snacks since I just had breakfast but they had a nice set up with a bar counter as well as tables closer to the books. Lots of fiction and some non fiction and a really good selection of cookbooks- lots of Barefoot Contessa books. Really look forward to stopping in here the next time I'm in Warren.”

“I love this store so much. Books, jewelry, games, dishware, children's toys, assorted knick knacks, cards/stationary. All very high quality items. Sad the location near me is being consolidated, but I will definitely visit the one in Barrington in the future!”

“Been there many times before covid hit. I really liked the items they had & CD music by Marilla. Bought many gifts for a variety of occasions. Very nice people too. Sincerely, Claire H.”

“It’s similar to the Blick store, except they have a smaller selection with more variety. I would even recommend the 3D works store as it has a similar aesthetic and is geared towards mixed media art. The 2D store has a gift shop attached, a cafe on the second floor managed by THE sweetest woman. And RISD merch designed by the school alumni. It’s definitely a student hotspot, but it’s welcoming to any kind of artist or creative. And the staff are very friendly so don’t be afraid to ask for help.As for the pricing, it’s comparable to Blick or Jerry Artarama, and can be discounted if you’re a student. Overall, great location, good staff and affordable prices.”

“This bookstore is pretty tucked away, and confusing for first time visitors. I’ve used google maps to drive here and it always leaves you up the street. Go down that one way street, across the gated parking lot there’s an opening with a sign up top. Then stay to the left, down the stairs to a shady looking basement—that’s the bookstore. The actual store itself is your run of the mill university bookstore. It’s got affordable school supplies, overpriced snacks and JWU apparel. I’ve picked up all of my textbooks here without a problem, and 5 minutes tops. There’s an older gentleman who works the desk and has for years and he’s very polite and helpful. Ask him for help if you need it.”

“Most incredible experience my daughter has ever had. Her goal is to attend Brown, so on vacation we decided to check out the bookstore and grab a souvenir. The staff there was so incredible including one amazing woman who decided to bless it forward. It made the entire vacation. We cannot thank her enough. Hopefully she sees this time know how much it meant. Loyal future Brown kid!”

“This store has pretty much everything you want for art supplies from brushes to oil to watercolors to markers and pencils. I have been there a few times to get supplies for my painting hobby that I need to be more focused on.. It's walking distance from the condo, so no parking issues for me. The staff working here is efficient and friendly.”

“Great shop! My goto for everything other than comic books. Graphic novels are limited, but some good ones and a few manga titles as well. They have toys that are for learning and are interactive. I bought a cool constellation + stars starter kit for my nephew that he loved. I'll continue to shop here and most likely get a membership ?.”

“Stages of Freedom is not just a fantastic bookstore, it is also where you can sign up for informative walking tours that explore Black history in Rhode Island, you can sign your kids up for free swimming lessons, you can have a long and deep conversation with Ray Rickman about Black art and culture in Providence, and sooooo much more. They also have a small museum dedicated to Christiana and Edward Bannister. Masks are required and provided.”

“Michelle was such a big help! I called ahead of time to ask if she had the books in stock and when I arrived, she had them ready to go for me. I can't thank her enough for getting me in and out of the store as fast as possible.”
