I rent from Avis fairly frequently. I would be cautious in renting again from Avis in Providence Rhode Island. I rented a 12 passenger van which literally had parts falling off of it inside the vehicle. The right rear quarter panel housing the jack assembly was being held on by caution tape. This 3 foot by 2 foot section of the plastic paneling, literally would not stay in place even with the tape. The tape had lost its elasticity, as well as in its ability to cling to the rest of the interior framework.Same tape was put on the roof apparently in the right rear corner for some other reason. The vehicle shimmied and shook and squeaked in every possible direction as if it had not been properly maintained greased or oiled. Passengers in the vehicle were so concerned, seeing things falling off of the vehicle that they elected not to ride in this one again , unless it was the only one available for transport. Avis could do better.

By far the worst experience I have ever had with a rental car company. I usually go with Enterprise but my mileage card is partnered with their preferred program and allegedly I'll get more miles with the rental. added fees at drop-off that were not part of the original quote. Toll fee added even though I had my EZ Pass, showed them my EZ Pass and was told I wouldn't be charged the toll program fee. Extra day charge added for some reason despite the fact that I returned it on the day I said I was. I don't know, maybe this happens more than I would think but personally I would have taken it better if they would have been up front. None of the fees matched my reservation quote when I got the car at pickup. On a positive note, The car was very nice and clean was pleasant to drive.

I initially thought my rental from Avis rated 4 stars. The agent at Providence Airport in RI was helpful during the pick-up. The agent at Bradley Airport in CT was very friendly when I dropped off the car. When I received my emailed rental receipt, I discovered I was being charged for fuel. I always refill rentals before returning to the Bradley at a gas station approximately one mile from the parking garage. When I picked up the car, the gas gauge was on the full market. When I dropped off the car, the gas gauge read above the full mark. I left the car at Avis with more gas than I started with, and I now being charged more than $20 for gasoline. I am also disappointed that Avis charges $1.00 per day to participate in a frequent flyer program.

I love renting from Avis at the T. F. Green airport because of the convenience and reasonable fees. Several times a year, I am in need of a 12-passenger van to transport a team to events around the region, and Avis is one of the few companies that offers these vehicles. I am able to park in the airport long-term lot, walk over the sky-way, right to the rental desk to pick up my vehicle. I have never had a problem with their vehicles, and the staff have always been helpful, knowledgable, and accommodating. On my recent rental, when I arrived at the counter, I was informed that the party before me had damaged the van and it was not available. The folks at the desk tried to find me a van from one of the other rental companies, but nobody had one. That could have been a disaster. Luckily I was able to get a colleague to use a personal vehicle, and we made due by renting a minivan from Avis. The minivan was in immaculate condition and a very affordable alternative to the bigger vehicle.

We rent a van, 7 seats, in Providence, RI 10/2023. We picked up and returned .the van took less than 5 minutes each time. Services were pleasant and fast. The van was nice, smooth ride, strong engine. We were shocked to learn the van was hybrid. Save quite a bit $$$ on gas. I might consider of renting the next time instead of taking my own car due to fuel costs.

Member of Avis Preferred .. received text indicating vehicle was ready. Where then informed that there were no vehicles available and that one was in the process of being washed. 45 minutes later we were given a vehicle. The vehicle (a Toyota Corolla) had potato chips and other debris on the floor and once we reached our destination had to clean the interior windows. I rent exclusively from Avis and must admit this was the first unacceptable.experience. Not satisfied with a $450.00 rental.

If I could give this zero stars I would. Car was great, process was relatively easy. However, I was quoted a super low price for the gas fees and then was charged over $50 for gas fees when I got he final bill. Will never rent from AVIS again.

The Avis car rental has made every effort to please the customer. I have seen tremendous improvement in the last 12 months. The waiting time has been reduced to nothing. I think the services are superb. Keep up the good work.

Car was upgraded to one with worse gas mileage and no GPS even though I paid for it. They said it was not their problem since I booked thru AARP. I am handicapped and they offered no assistance at Prov airport.

I am disappointed with Avis to be charged more than the cost for a full day rental for extending my return time from 12 until 2:30 pm when flying back from Providence last Friday as a result of a delayed flight. I would be more understanding if traveling alone, but when traveling with my wife and 4 young children it is less than ideal to spend extra time in the airport.One of my relatives rented a car from a competitor on the same day and their time extension was granted at no extra charge.The experience was not all bad but I feel this was a missed opportunity for Avis to be considerate of the already poor situation.Update after the reply from Avis to my review. The requested I contact them via email and reference my rental info and explain the situation. I took my time to do so and this was their response. It was nice to receive a follow-up. However, I spent more valuable time and didn’t receive a refund or offer for a future discount. Rented a car from here (not from a plane ride, but local pick up)...the address takes you to THE BACK of the garage, and you can't get in. You need to put in the "iron works" restaurant, and the entrance will be close the there. In addition, the signage turns you all around. There is an Avis preferred in the actual garage, but you have to go inside, if you don't have that status...which was annoying. When I attempted to call them, my number went to the main call center, instead of the local branch. Yet, I was told I have to speak with the branch to have my question answered. The people I met when I returned the car where very friendly and knowledgeable about questions I had.

Just had a great experience with Avis. I got a nearly new vehicle versus the Budget car rental a few months ago that had 30,000 miles on it. The service was superb. In fact, the manager drove my disabled dad to the airport after we dropped off our car. He never would have been able to walk such a long distance from the rental garage. He never would have made it with his walker. Much appreciated!

Excellent experience! Pretty new car versus the 32,000 mile vehicle Budget had given me. TFGreen Airport Avis manager was sweet and gave my disabled dad and me a ride to the airport. A++

Watch the mileage rate quoted on 1-way rentals. I got hoodwinked and missed that point being used to unlimited mileage rentals, $0.35/mile is twice the competition. I won’t make that mistake twice. The 1-way rental distance is a simple calculation and to leave it out provides a meaningless point of reference.
