Terrible gym like many others I canceled my membership handed a letter directly to the owner, still getting charged multiple months after. Do not go to this gym it is a dishonest place. I will be reporting them to the RI Attorney general i Hope everyone with a similar experience does as well.

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. Like EVERYONE ELSE in these reviews I have cancelled my membership MONTHS AGO & continue to keep getting charged. I have left more than 20 messages with staff because owner is never available and I never hear back from anyone. After speaking with one of the HONEST STAFF of the gym they said it happens ALL THE TIME & the gym owner NEVER CANCELS ANYONE, EVERY CANCELLATION IS LIKE THIS & THE OWNER HAS IT SO THAT SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN CANCEL OR REFUND ANYONE .. They are holding all of their members hostage for money.. i am looking into a CLASS ACTION lawsuit and will be contacting all the people that were wronged. The owner is terrible & this is bad business. DO NOTTTT GO TO THIS GYM!

This place is ridiculous. Trying to cancel a gym membership and this place is a nightmare. Should have acknowledged the rest of the reviews and realized that, but I gave the benefit of the doubt. If you want to be charged several more times despite not being there, go for it. Try calling and you get through 30% of the time.
As a business model if you see people are not having a good experience on something changing it would often lead to more success.

This gym is an absolute scam. We canceled our membership 2 and a half years ago and when we canceled we had to put a stop payment on our credit card because they keep charging you regardless of whether you have canceled your membership or not. Today I look at my credit card bill and there are $1,100 in new charges 2 and a half years after canceling!!! Thankfully I have documented emails of my cancelation to provide to my credit card company. Anyone who reads these reviews and continues to start a membership here is crazy. This is a complete scam.

I wish I could leave 0 stars. I cancelled my membership almost two years ago and continued to be charged on my credit card at that time. Had to dispute the transactions to stop the payments and I just received another charge after being gone for almost two years! Beware and check your transactions!

If only Google would let me leave 0 stars. This gym charged me fraudulently for 2 YEARS after my cancelled membership. I have called the gym no less than 15 times and always get told the manager will call me back. I have gotten one email from Melissa saying she’s “working on it”, then back to radio silence. This is the most unprofessional business with terrible customer service. They clearly don’t care an ounce about their members. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely dirty and disgusting.Don't go in the showers or pool or especially the hot tub unless u want a virus.A shower head that dribbles.Workers that don't answer questions on why they lie to you about the gym.U want covid or something worse go to a LA fitness club.Disgusting ?!!!

FRAUDULENT CHARGES! My 16 year old daughter cancelled her membership and was charged 4 different times on her credit card within minutes. I called the gym when she signed up and asked if there would be a cancellation fee because I thought it was pricey for a child. I was told at that time by the manager, that she would waive any cancellation fee and she could cancel at anytime. She normally pays $28.25 a month these charges were $30, $45, 2 x $3.25.I was obviously upset and called to speak with a manager. I was told she was not in, so I left a message about my concern and I left my number and asked for her to call me the next day. I never received a call the next day. I called the gym 5 times during the day, no one answered the phone. On my last call to the gym I received a message “the person you are trying to call is refusing your call”. I was obviously angry that I was purposely being avoided, especially when fraudulent charges were made to my daughter’s account! I drove to the gym at 1:00 and walked in to find the manager at the front desk and the gym was completely empty. I spoke with her and she said she apologized she looked at the notes in the account and would issue a refund and send me an email to confirm. I received an email that stated they would refund of $30 and $15 dollars. I immediately sent an email back stating that my daughter is still being overcharged! Her monthly payment was $28.25. I never received a response.I spoke with a friend (attorney) who advised me to filed a fraudulent claim with the bank. My daughter is a minor and any contact she may have signed is null and void.I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE SHE HAD SIGNED UP!This issue could have been completely avoided had this matter been handled professionally.

Do not get a membership here! The owner/manager will continue to ignore cancellation requests, even in writing. She does not care and will continue to charge you.

Horrible, and worst customer service. I have been calling for almost 3 weeks requesting information on their group classes, because their website is not working. The receptionist has told me few times that owner will call me, well no one has called. Yesterday, I took a trip to the gym, the owner was there, but the receptionist said he couldn’t answer my questions, he was chatting with someone else, not about work ( dear mr. owner if you have a business, you are supposed to care for your client and potential clients), specially if their website is not working properly. I asked the receptionist for a print out for the classes, and she said she didn’t have one, What a terrible business. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after all the previous bad reviews, it is confirmed, they are terrible. Too bad, because the gym is a good location, please sell it to someone with good ethic work and customer skills, can’t be that hard.

Scammy POS business. One you start requesting, then begging them to stop charging your card for a membership you ended a year ago they will start charging every few months to throw you off. Stay the hell away from these people.

Terrible business.I had gotten charged twice in one month, I called the gym 2x and an employee said they would have the manager reach out. Once I went in and caught the manager to chat she stated its because my payment declined so now the other $25 is the late fee. After going back and forth with Melissa she agreed to just put that charge towards my June monthly membership. I stated that was fine but I would be moving in the middle of June so I have to cancel &This is plenty of notice. Melissa stated all was good and I asked multiple times if she needed anything from me or if anything arises to inform me. About 4-5 weeks go by and I had gone in a handful of times and no one- not even Melissa had stopped me regarding any issues with my account. I get charged again so i call and was very kind even though I was frustrated and we agreed she could send me $25 in the form of a check (should the refund not go through on her software) to my new address.. nothing about fees or anything charges. The next day I use the gym and discuss in person the situation. She states she still has to check things so I contact my bank to which I was again informed no charges had any issues..ever. I got it printed out and emailed Melissa at this point. She then tries to inform me I owe cancellation fees, and that there Is a note on my account again for declined charges. Nothing of this has been mentioned and she had already lied so I do not believe it. She’s had weeks to inform me of anything, and failed to do so until I finally went to my bank and confronted her. I spoke with Maddy Wednesday night and she let me write out a cancellation and does not mention any declined charges, or any other fees of any sort. Then i get charged again and She fails to answer the phone or emails. I go to the bank and explain what’s going on. They do a stop pay and try to stop any pending charges. It wasn’t until she received this notice that now she emails me saying she waived cancellation fees as a courtesy which I was not informed about those at all& and then something about monthly dues of $50 that she would cut in half. Every time it’s a different story and excuse to keep charging me or keep me from cancelling. Then she emails me that she cannot cancel my membership due to unpaid balances. I filed a report with the BBB and went to file suspicious activity. I will be filing with the attorney generals office next.

Great gym and atmosphere. Staff is great, and Owners are wonderful! They go above and beyond for their members!Gym is always clean so that is a plus. I have also cancelled and rejoined and have had no issues at all. Owner is always there and available for members needs and if she is off she is always a phone call away.

As a college student, Smithfield Fitness has provided an amazing place for me to work out at when I am home for break! The classes are motivating, so versatile and inviting. I’m 21 but it’s perfect for any and all ages. I wish I could work out here all year round. If you’re a college student looking for a gym this summer, Smithfield Fitness is the way to go!!
