“This place is amazing! I have had four dogs over the years and they have all gone to Wood River Animal Hospital. I would not take them anywhere else. Dr. Schuelke and Dr. Fischer are awesome, the vet techs are awesome. They are all very compassionate about the animals that they care for and that is evident every time my pets have gone there. They go above and beyond every time no matter what the situation is. These 4 pups have all been blessed and loved there.??❤️”
“We travel for work and have been in the area for about a year and a half. Of all the vets we've been to (there have been quite a few), this is by far our most favorite place to take our fur babies. They are always so attentive and willing to do whatever they can to make sure you and your pets are cared for. Seriously the kindest staff ever and we're so grateful for them.”

“We were looking for a vet who would be good with an Alpha male dominant / scaredy rescue dog in the area, and hit the jackpot with Dr. Dunn. First of all, my mixed terrier felt homey in the house-like setting, and wasn’t as afraid as he usually is in Fl. Take that, plus the very relaxed, calm, kind attitude of the Dr., we were able to get every shot done that my dog was due for. The yearly vet visit is usually my own worse day of the year, but was a piece of cake with Dr. Dunn. He’s truly the dog whisperer, and I highly recommend this vet.”
“Highly responsive to the needs of the local region regarding animal adoptions and care. Also, very active for such a small organization in supporting the area and the animals it cares for. I am concerned about the one negative review which seems as though the reviewer might have been complaining about the town's dog park which really has nothing to do with the Stand Up For Animals organization or its personnel and it sounds like he may have been in the wrong place with his comments and his bag of broken glass.”
“My pup Valak destroyed his knee. At 3 years old and extremely athletic I went for a consult at Big River. It was clearly explained which method would be the best fit and why by Dr Cardosa. A TPLO surgery was done and went very well. My pup is a shy guy yet at each visit he LOVED the staff because they met him where he was at. Now at 9 weeks post op I couldn't be happier! A big thank you to the entire team.”

They’re honest compassionate, and they listen. They don’t rush you, and they’re organized. They care about you, but more so, what is best for your pet. They get back to me so quickly. We live on an island, and it isn’t easy to get to the vet. They deliver our meds right to the boat for us. They check in with you, too.When I was there for an appointment one day, an elderly gentleman was worried about bringing his cat to the vet twice daily for some treatment. I overheard Dr. Hoffer telling him that she would come to his house every night after work and give the cat its medicine for him. He wouldn’t have to travel.Thank you Atlantic Animal Hospital!”
