This review is only getting 2 stars because Bruce was very friendly, and Jay, the dog, was cute. Other than that, it really deserves 1 star, or even negative stars if that were possible. I dropped of both of my Orecks for repairs and servicing last week and was greeted by Bruce and the dog. They were very friendly and helpful. It was my first time at this repair shop, so I had no idea what to expect. I am the type of person who "has a guy" for nearly everything, and I planned to make this place "that guy" for vacuum and sewing machine service. NOT A CHANCE. I received a phone call a few days ago from a lady who told me my vacuums were all set for pick up. They ended up being $65 each. I thought that was strange since I was originally told that that was the price for just cleaning and service and repairs would be extra. When I questioned her about that, she told me that sometimes the guy throws in extra services for free. I said, "Great!" She never once mentioned anything about any repairs that needed to be done. So that would lead me to believe that everything that was wrong when I dropped them off was now fixed. WRONG! I picked up my two Orecks today and was greatly disappointed. There was a different guy there who I'm guessing is the "repair man," more like hack... He told me that my vacuums were pretty shot and they did the best they could do. That wasn't a good thing to hear after receiving the phone call saying they were all set and ready for pick up with no mention of their condition. Luckily, I thought to plug them in before I left, only to discover that the one was still making the awful screeching sound and the second one was now making THE SAME SOUND, which it wasn't making when I brought it there!! WHAT?!? I asked why they're still making the noise and his response was, repeatedly, "well we did the best we could do." Also, when I plugged in the second one that had the "new squeak," I found that the lightbulbs were not replaced, even though I specifically asked for both bulbs to be changed. The only solace this guy gave, after me having to ask him to replace the bulbs that he didn't change in the first place, was to offer to sell me a $300 dollar vacuum or remove the new brushes and belts he put in there and give me my money back. I said forget it, paid, and left. I shouldn't have paid but I was so frustrated that I needed to leave. Terrible customer service. Terrible "repairs," or lack thereof. Would NOT recommend. When I asked what they actually needed to fix them he said probably new motors or bearings. I asked how much that would be and he told me around $150. My point is, why didn't I receive a phone call telling me that THAT is what they needed??? I probably would have had them fixed since THATS WHY I BROUGHT THEM THERE!! But no, instead I get charged for a "servicing" for vacuums that he apparently deems garbage. Make sense?? Why you service vacuums that you say are ready for the trash??? Why did I not get a phone call telling me this??? THIEVES!!!!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

This business has been servicing my central vac system for years! We had it installed by them in 2018 and they have always been so helpful when we have run into issues. They are so helpful, efficient, and kind! I have also had my sewing machines fixed with them, and it has always been 5 star service.

I have just picked up my Dyson from this establishment in North Providence and I am absolutely disgusted that they have the audacity to return my vacuum in the condition it is in!I paid $90 for a cleaning and servicing but the only evidence that anything was done is a new filter. It still has the same squeaky sound, doesn't pick up very well and when I removed the plastic cover from the roller it was caked in dust and debris. There was no apology or any attempt to reimburse. In addition to this review, I will make sure anyone I know who owns a vacuum will never have theirs 'serviced' at this awful place! Extremely poor service and even worse customer relations! When I told him I would leave a review to reflect the poor service and condition of my vacuum he simply said "Okay". Obviously couldn't care less about the reputation of the company he works at or how customers are treated!

My sewing machine was stuck in reverse! They fixed it and gave it a tune up. It was all very INEXPENSIVE.

I called 4 times over the course of 2 weeks . No call backs finally I got an answer , they said they would have my vacuum hose in stock . After I drove there and brought in my hose I was told that hose is not available ,discontinued years ago ,but for only $600+ they could sell me an universal replacement hose but I would have to buy the whole set . I went home found a company 1 hr away and they asked what color hose I wanted !!!! They gave me a choice of 3 black, white or gray they had all in stock !! Less than half the price and exact replacement.

I wouldn't recommend this business, I felt he ripped me off. But it's ur choice. He said it was filters but before I brought it to him I checked all the filters and hoses, Go figure. He's a thief.

I still use my 1974 Singer Futura II ~ this North Providence Sew & Vac is my go-to place to keep it in perfect running order. Prices are reasonable, and they can sharpen scissors as well.

I purchased a Clean Obsessed canister vac from this store. I was very impressed with its performance, lightweight, very powerful, and at a very reasonable price. John even threw in a free pack of bags! Bruce one of the sales and service people was very courteous and knowledgable. I recently had to have the hose repaired, which was completed in no time! I will not shop for a vacuum anywhere else. Great customer service!

I found the service at this store to be way less than what I expected. I was looking for vacuum cleaner bags for an older model of an expensive vacuum. First I called them and left a message. Then, I stopped by the store and the man who was there said he would order them for me and give me a call. After 10 days I hadn't heard anything so I called the store again but could only leave a message. Two days passed with no return call. I called again and this time the phone was answered. The person who answered was apparently a different person because he didn't know anything about my request to order bags and wanted me to start over from the beginning at which point "I said I really don't need your help.' I went online. I found a company that had them in stock. I ordered them and I will have them tomorrow. I always try to buy local but when merchants don't seem interested in providing me with the service to which I feel entitled I take the course of least resistance. Perhaps if I had purchased the machine there I would have been treated differently.

We alas, had to replace our 30 year old Vacuum. John worked with us and gave us an awesome price, and threw in a box of vacuum cleaner bags as well. He was patient, kind, and very generous. It took us three visits to decide to purchase it and he greeted us happily each and every time. It was so much nicer to buy a vacuum from him as opposed to the big box stores, where you can't try them out. He even let us bring in a throw rug to see how his vacuums worked on my specific rugs. We'd definitely go back to him again!

Great shop for repairs, pretty good vacuums, and sewing machines! My boyfriend bought me a sewing machine! I love it! I would definitely recommend this shop. ✨

I've been using my sewing machine to make face-masks for local hospitals. My machine broke and the shop fixed it within 24 hours for an incredibly reasonable price. They allowed us to leave it and pick up outside, and pay over the phone to practice appropriate social distancing. I'm incredibly grateful that I can continue to make masks. Thank you!
