The Chanler...A by the shore mansion hotel with stunning views and a beautiful lawn. Staff were very good with only one hiccup. (Unnecessary seating altercation with dinner hostess). Also, only 3 stars because of our small guest room size and using the unnecessarily difficult shower and phone has be figured out. (Yes, we were given quickly forgotten usage instructions). The biggie is NO elevator! Get ready for a workout. Their tour guide Jeff is outstanding. He knows the area and it's history and gave us a nice surprise. Also they offer a handy shuttle. Also our room had a very welcoming patio again with stunning views. I would certainly enjoy this hotel again

The Chanler is a rare treat: incredible location on the Cliff Walk, overlooking a sandy inlet. All the rooms we've stayed in are creatively and lavishly decorated. The Briar room has a courtyard with lawn , porch and private hot tub cabana. At dinner on the porch we watched Osprey's circling and hunting for fish over the bay for hours.
Rooms: creatively decorated, lots of amenities
Walkability: outside bar has steps directly down to the cliff walk

Most magical weekend getaway! My only suggestion would be that breakfast should be complimentary at this price range.

Simply sensational - 10 stars!?
I had the distinct pleasure of staying at the Chandler. I looked up the history of this place and it’s simply amazing. My room was spacious, comfy and elegant!
From the moment I checked in the staff cater to my every need. The hotel is decorated beautifully and everything is designed around your comfort.
All the food is prepared by a chef and is absolutely delicious and delectable. Gracias chef!
I enjoyed a glass of vino out on the veranda… ahhh … so relaxing! Que Rico!
My room had a private balcony with Chase lounge, which was much appreciated for relaxing and reading a book!
The grounds are perfectly manicured here, and they even do special events and weddings.
I would like to say thank you to the hard-working staff for your time, expertise, hospitality, and overall TLC.
If you are searching for a unique place to stay with a lot of history and comfort, this is it.
I would highly recommend the Chandler!
Looking forward to staying with you again on my next visit!
Namaste amigos! ?

It’s going to be difficult to put into words just how magnificent this hotel is but I will give it a shot! This was a very special stay for us. We spent one night in the Nantucket, celebrating a 55th birthday. The stay started with driving through wrought iron gates, a view of one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever seen, our doors being opened for us and glasses of sparkling wine. The grounds are pristine and the location is one of a kind. Everyone at the front desk is exceptional at what they do. I had our dinner reservation changed three times with ease and a genuine willingness to assist. The gentlemen that escorted us to our room was so knowledgeable, giving us a brief history of the hotel and our room. The view from this room is literally breathtaking. Waking up to the sun glistening off the ocean from our own private deck was something I will never forget. It is truly one of the most magical places I’ve ever been to. On our departure we were gifted a beautiful bottle of olive oil. I highly recommend The Chanler and will most certainly be back. This hotel hits every single mark and exceeds expectations.
Rooms: The Nantucket has the most spectacular view I have ever seen with its own private entrance, hot tub, sauna and deck. Exceptional!
Nearby activities: You have the cliff walk right at your front door. Tons of great restaurants and boutiques.
Safety: The hotel is very safe and staff is present at all times.
Walkability: The Chanler is a mile from Thames street. The walk is doable but uphill most of the way.

My family had a 12.30 reservation but we arrived at 12.00. They made us wait until 12.30 with the explanation that there were many other reservations. We waited until 12.30.
Another couple came at 12.15 with a 12.35 reservation. They were seated immediately. This was very rude.
We have stayed several time with great results
This is the first that the Chanler had bad service.
Rooms: Great
Food & drinks: Great

After a fun but chilly afternoon walking around Newport, we came over to the Chanler to indulge at the hot chocolate bar. It's around the back of the property on a veranda which is enclosed by plastic and somewhat heated. We were warm enough with our jackets on even on a cold day. The views are spectacular and look right over the beach and the cliff walk. The hot chocolate itself was pricey at $13 per cup but it was excellent. EXTREMELY rich and extra creamy; you can see the toppings from my picture. We enjoyed it for an afternoon activity and I would go back for sure!

Highly recommend their weekend hot chocolate bar. Serving decadent, rich, Belgian style hot chocolate.

The incredible service started just moments after booking online, when I received a phone call confirming my reservations. I was able to customize the accommodations and learn more about our stay.As we pulled up to the enchanting location, we had the pleasure of being met by Kristina for a tour of the grounds.Upon arrival, we were delighted by early entry into our beautiful guest rooms. We couldn’t believe the attention to detail throughout the hotel but specifically in the accommodations. By the time we got to our room, the seamless staff beat us there with our luggage, jackets perfectly hanging in the closet. Our guest room continued to be magically perfected while we were away, with surprises waiting for us on our pillows. We returned to fresh water in the fridge, wires organized by the bed and toiletries perfect at the sink. The features in the room rivaled the quality and luxury of any five star hotels such as automated blinds, automatic fireplace, heated floors and a truly luxurious shower experience. This is a historic building with charm, but does not show signs of suchq in terms of the luxurious finishes that adorn the room. The true magic of this hotel was the staff and the seamless communication that happens behind the scenes to create magic for the guest. This was hospitality at its finest all around. Kristina told us upon arrival that they aim for their guest to not have to think about any of their needs during their stay. After witnessing first hand, I can say that the team successfully stayed one step ahead of our every possible want for the duration of our visit.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever been to! The staff is very friendly, decent, everything is at the highest level. The chateau itself is simply magnificent, the location is very pleasant, the interior is incredible, the location is very beautiful! There is a walking trail nearby, walking along which you can see beautiful ocean views and luxurious estates. The room was very nice, perfectly clean, we were treated to sweets and there was water and coffee available, which was very nice. When we went out for a walk after dinner for less than an hour, a surprise awaited us when we returned. All things were folded, charger cords were neatly folded, slippers were prepared by the bed, splashes in the bathroom were cleaned up and new towels were already waiting for us. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how quickly and perfectly they cleaned our room, even though we didn’t asked. This is the highest level! The food in the restaurant was very tasty and the presentation was beautiful, thanks to the chefs! The waiters are very nice and professional. At checkout we received a bottle of olive oil as a gift, very unexpected and pleasant. I really enjoyed my stay in Newport in this chateau, I will be happy to come back here ❤️
