Went here years ago.. it is beautifully restored w the orriginal Chapel and Christan artwork (wall frescos ) in tact.Library is beautiful No fluff here.. i felt close to Newport's real History of Sailors coming into port for respit. Simple services to those in need.

Great rendezvous point in the summer. As long as 12 metre cafe is open, you'll have a place to sit and restrooms.

This is a non-profit organization that is local to Newport. It's mission is to support and provide hospitality to mariners.The main way Seaman's helps mariners is through its historic building, which has a library, learning center, a cafe, free WiFi, limited sleeping accomodations, and a chapel.The chapel is very small, but it is one of the most peaceful places I've ever been. It has a transcendent and spiritual aura. It is a good place to escape in solitude.Insofar as I can tell, Seaman's Church Institute of Newport is independent of The Seaman's Church Institute (of New York and New Jersey), although I'm still not sure.
