My wife and I were visiting Newport for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and chose to stay at the Samuel Durfee House based on its location and all the positive reviews. They were spot on. Our room was the Doris Duke Suite. We were impressed with how large, comfortable and clean it was. Heather and Michael were very accommodating and gave us excellent advice on things like dining and parking. Breakfast was phenomenal even the coffee was excellent. We had such a great weekend and know we will be back. I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else.

This bed and breakfast was perfect! My wife and I just spent a long weekend there and we both loved it! The innkeepers Heather and Michael were awesome! They both made the stay a fantastic experience! Breakfast was incredible! We stayed in the Perry Room which was beautiful and very clean. The room is set in the back of the house so it is nice and quiet. The house itself is located on spring street which is perfectly located one block back from Thames street. Thames street is the busy main street of Newport. Close enough to walk to it but far away from the commotion. There is a spacious parking lot that is onsite with plenty of space. We will definitely return to this AMAZING bed and breakfast!

My partner and I stayed at the Samuel Durfee House for two nights in the Perry Room. We absolutely loved our stay. First, the location of the inn is very conveniently located. Second, Heather and Michael are friendly and personable (plus easy to talk to). Finally, the breakfast was just what we needed, and the ability to have it on our room's private outdoor space was just what you want on a summer vacation. If we come back to Newport we would 100% stay here again.

Excellent B&B in a charming period house. Great location within walking distance of the shops/restaurants/harbor - but away from the noise. Hosts served delicious breakfast and provided tips on things to see and do. We'll be back!Walkability: 1 block from Thames St, the main shopping/restaurant row.Food & drinks: Breakfast was made-to-order, afternoon coffee & snacks.

We loved staying at The Samual Durfee House! The Inn was immaculate and so quaint! The full breakfasts we decadent! They are homemade by the owner. My shoe broke and we were headed to a black tie event, I asked the innkeeper if she had any super glue on hand. She didn’t but, when she arrived back home from an errand, she delivered a tube to our room without taking any payment! Outstanding! We can’t wait to stay there again!John and Kim FicaroWilliamsburg VA

This was our second stay at the Samuel Durfee House. On both occasions Heather and Michael were very welcoming and accommodating; don't hesitate to ask them for any recommendations for activities or dining during your stay. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious... we stayed in the Durfee room this time and the Perry room last time and we loved the balcony in the Perry room. We had read that they are known for their breakfast and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and they have different options for each day of your stay. I have already recommended this B&B to my friends and will definitely stay here again in the future.

This was the perfect getaway for our babymoon. The inn was cozy and is in a great location. Being 7 months pregnant it was an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. Every morning we had a delicious breakfast outside on the patio. Heather and Michael were great hosts and had great recommendations. Newport is a hidden gem and we hope to be back

Stayed three nights at SDH and we found it to be very enjoyable. The location on a long, busy street in the heart of Newport is ideal for a quick, short walk to wherever you may be headed. Off-street parking on the premises is helpful and makes it very convenient and easy to come and go should you need to take a drive or run an errand. The room aren't exactly large, buy are plenty spacious (this was our second stay this summer.) The bathrooms were clean as was the house overall. Heather (and Mike) are there to assist you with any concern or inquiry you may have, but respect your need for privacy and are in no overbearing or intrusive as some well-meaning innkeepers can be. Breakfast is consistently delicious and fresh with a different twist/options each morning. The choice to have your breakfast delivered to your room, out on a common patio/garden area, or in the downstairs dining room is an added bonus. We will return to Newport, and we are sure to try to stay at Sam Durfee again.

Michael and Heather are the most delightful hosts in Newport! We just completed our 10th year staying at Samuel Durfee House for the annual Newport Jazz Fest. We wouldn't stay anywhere else! If you value a yummy homemade breakfast, comfortable accommodations, and incredible hospitality then stay at Samuel Durfee House!

Michael and Heather welcomed us back for another stay with big smiles. We absolutely love spending time at their bed and breakfast. We select a different room every year and each one becomes our new favorite. They make sure we start each day with a breakfast that is as pretty to look at as delicious to eat. We truly can’t say enough about the house, amenities and phenomenal service we receive each stay. Until next year!!!
