One thing I like about Newport is that they really have unique merchandise in many of the shops. In an age where "good shopping" is sort of moot if you live in New York or, duh, have the internet, this is one place where you actually can find some unusual items. Royal Male has a lot of Barbour and St. James clothes, but also high quality clothing from smaller manufacturers. The best reason to shop there, though, is that the two guys who are usually in the Mary St. location actually know clothing . Yes, they want to sell you pieces, but they know their inventory, they know how clothes are supposed to fit, they have some idea if a color compliments your complexion, and they won't let you leave unless something looks good on you. That's a vanishing skill, and it's priceless. Stop in. My wife (yes, they have women's clothes) and I always do, every time we visit Newport.

when you walk in you feel your in England and that is awesome. Second I am from Rhode Island and some times want to move to another state like kanas or Ohio. just to try something Different but when you enter this store you realize that Rhode Island is the best state to live in and this store is why they have items that stores in bigger states may not have and if they do it may not be so close to you if you have not been her yet you are missing out so get off amazon and check out the Royal Male this store is proof not everything is on line you will love what they sell and I promise you will keep coming back because it that amazing.

Lovely, lovely shop with a beautiful carefully curated assortment of men's and women's fine clothing. Still family-owned and run by the son of the founder, a furrier who was one of the first purveyors of Barbour jackets (the Bedale made an early appearance in Newport). Belstaff, Drake's, Barbour and their own European-crafted and locally-made clothing and accessories. Beautiful women's clothing as well. If you are looking for Tyrolian coats, meticulously crafted German courduroys, a velvet peak lapel jacket, a Locke & Co. hand-blocked hat, a Neoplitan unlined sportcoat, or the latest in old-world Salzburg tailoring, with superb customer service, this is not to be missed touch of old world charm. What a charming find for folks interested in quality clothing and dressing-up whether for formal, special or everyday occasions!
