The miserable older man working here implied I couldn’t afford to purchase a Barbour jacket, funny part I was wearing one when that day by the way ? I own ten dude, Get over yourself! The jackets are not that expensive ? it’s not Hermes, Such a miserable insufferable snob, he went out of his way to not want to be bothered helping me! Shop anywhere else. Lose the attitude dude! You cater to the public and sell products.

I have never failed to find a truly unique and distinctive piece of clothing or shoes in this terrific men’s shop.There are a limited number of items and they tend to be pricey but are well worth it. Exceptional quality and fit.

Every time we come to Newport, we always stop at the Royal Male shop. They have a fine selection of high quality apparel and accessories. The staff is kind and cultured. It is always a delight to come to this store and see the new items. It is a gem in the center of Newport, and you can't find the things they have anywhere else. We have known the staff there for years, and it is a truly wonderful experience.

Superb gentleman's (and women's) clothier, offering a wonderful assortment of European and locally crafted jackets, ties, trousers from celebrated quality brands including Drake's, Belstaff, Barbour and other speciality Austrian and German smaller manufacturers, as well as a number of items made specifically for the Royal Male. The service is excellent and helpful, the vibe is friendly and welcoming. The store has been in existence for over 40+ years with a loyal customer base across generations and is now run by the son of the founder. If you are looking for a certain stylish scarf, a Locke & Co. hat, a Tyrolian jacket or hand-tipped tie, a fur-trimmed great coat, together with an unlined Neopolitan-cut tailored jacket, this may be the place for you. Highly recommend stopping by! There just aren't many shops like this still around and thriving these days for the discerning customer of quality clothing. I bought a few items, and the shipping was not only free but incredibly fast, arriving the next day via UPS in New York City.

Royal Male made my trip to Newport truly authentic. The staff at both stores were attentive, welcoming, and clearly wedded to the reputation of their products. I've recommended this store to all of my friends on the East Coast. Whether trekking to Boston from NYC or just taking a day trip in RI, this spot is a must. I rarely write Yelp reviews, but for this store, I simply couldn't resist!

This past weekend was my first visit at this store. It was definitely more on the pricier side, but definitely loved the simple fashions by Barbour and Saint James. From the name of the store, you will notice that most of the apparel and goods are from Europe. I never heard of Saint James (more nautical style) until I got here, and I got a couple nice sweaters and the bf got a kiwi colored Barbour sweater. The store is on the smaller side, and the owners are very helpful. They also had these nice cashmere hounds tooth scarves by Genn, but they were just a bit too much hehe. Next time ...
