Owners are extremely nice. The place is very clean, with good prices. It's a small store. I love that they let my 70lb dog in. It's convenient if I am stopping in quick while we are walking.

I love this place!!! Every time I'm downtown, I make a trip to the store and pick up a 6-pack of beer. It is a nice family business. The prices are very reasonable, tell the clerk at the counter that the street boss sends his regards. ✌?

Dude in there is a joke. Wouldn’t accept a VALID Florida ID. Newport is a common tourist destination, and he won’t accept a Florida ID?? Didn’t even scan the ID. Just looked me in my face and said he doesn’t take them and then I asked “You don’t accept a VALID Florida ID?” And he just repeats himself.THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. SCAN THE ID IF YOU ASSUME ITS FAKE. Ridiculous.

I have been on a mad search for Myer's rum. It is so very hard to find in California. I went into Rex Liquors and lo and behold, I found my coveted Myer's Rum. They only had 2 bottles which was perfect. They were the 750 ml size. OK. Great. (Add dramatic music here) I see the price and I am conflicted. The price was $35 each. What the heck?? That's the price for a 1.75 liter bottle. Hubby said, Get it. We are on vacay. So, I bought it. I drank most of 1 bottle on the cruise ship in our room and the other bottle went home. When I got home, I was able to order 2 more bottles of Myer's same size and have them delivered. The price was $18 each. This place gets 4 stars because they had what I wanted and the man that got them off the top shelf was very polite. If the price was better, Rex Liquors would have received 5 stars. I am still happy though.

My almost 22 year old daughter just was given such a hard time with her ri state issued ID (drivers license) by some short Spanish guy behind the counter. But he had no problem serving the incredibly intoxicated bum in line before her or the kid who looked 12 years old right in front of her in line. Both my daughter and I were born in newport. I will be spreading the word about this A-hole behind the counter and tell ppl to avoid this dump!
