I had an overall positive experience here. I asked for an early check in to accommodate my very busy schedule on the base and, to my surprise, they agreed to that. And they kept their promise -- I checked in early with no issues. The staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly. The room itself was clean and comfortable.

This is my favorite Navy Chalet in the Fleet. The rooms are cleaned daily, the staff is incredibly friendly....especially housekeeping and the front desk. The location is very convenient as it is very close to the main gate. For me, it is the most convenient possible location as it is right across the (walking) Bridge from the Naval Justice School, where I'm an instructor.Rooms: The rooms are clean and spacious.Nearby activities: It is moments away from downtown Newport.Safety: It is located inside a Naval Base. Hence, it is the safest place I can think of.Walkability: I'm an instructor at the Naval Justice School and it was right across the bridge for me. It is also very close to the base gym.Food & drinks: They have a pretty spacious kitchen.Noteworthy details: There are elevators and there is a nice lounge.

Don't stay here!!! Only got a star because I had to. Arrived late after having to drive from Newark because of cancelled flight. It was 3 am and the person working the front desk was in her car. Got checked in and when we got to the room there were several pubic hairs in the bedsheets. Obviously the sheets were not changed before making the bed. Asked for new sheets and when I started changing the pillows I could see yellow stains all over the pillows. I didn't want to sleep in the bed at all. The chair in the room was so dirty too. The restroom looked like someone tried to break off the toilet paper roll and no one bothered to fix it. Toilet paper roll just hanging on. The previous person in the room must've had long black hair because there was a huge chunk of long hair all over the tub and walls of the shower. The standard of cleaning here was zero! The rooms smell like mildew and there is mildew growing all over the outside of the building. The water came out brown and smelled bad. I tried to let the water run before getting water to make coffee and the coffee tasted so bad. I will never return to this place. It is honestly a health issue making people stay here and this place should be condemned. Few hours of being there was enough. It will forever now be known as the shitlet!!!

Standard temporary us on duty rooms however, the service provided by the staff is top notch and the location. I mean it’s Newport Rhode Island. You can’t beat it.

I was calling NGIS for a room and somehow they send me to Chalet without notifying me. The room is definitely old. I smell something funky the moment I stepped in. Definitely make sure you got a room in NGIS and don’t let them trick you.

Room is adequate as I have been here for a month. The staff is top notch and extremely friendly. The rooms leave a little to be desired. The towels often come back brown and the elevator has been down several times since we arrived. Other than those two minor complaints this stay has been pretty decent.

The view at the bridge & water near the hotel is the best part of this place. Everything else was fine. It was nice to have a fridge & microwave in the room. As others mentioned, it could definitely use some updating/

For a Navy Barracks, really can't ask for much more. Great staff, cleaning staff, and room size. Comfortable bed, enjoyed the shared kitchen. Really didn't mind the stay at all!

This hotel is disgusting. The staff barely clean your room. Sheets only changed once. It's not the pandemic anymore but I get it. But even still they find any reason to not service your room. They only took the trash out and replaced towels daily. When I checked in there was a used coffee pot with the filters still in the machine. The fridge still had smudgy finger prints on it. He water was BROWN. And apparently no one on base can fix the water being brown in the bldg. so why make students stay here? Parking is ridiculous. 0/10 do not recommend.

Been dealing with this for 4 weeks.Walls are too thin, some days I had to call to have towels delivered, bed was only made appropriately a few times, water was always a brownish color with a smell to it, washed my whites in the laundry room and they came back the color of the water, floor was never cleaned, bathroom was never cleaned,and I kept finding hair around the room.However, they did take the trash out everyday.

Overall, good service, but the rooms are long overdue for an update and not as clean as I would expect for service members. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Walls very thin, could hear our neighbors talking all the time. Bed linen and pillows not so good, old. Otherwise front desk staff and housekeeping were very friendly, good customer service.

Great place to stay on base. Sharon Longo and staff will take care of all your needs and make you feel at home. Scenic sunset views of Narragansett Bay from the westside rooms!
