Title: Disappointed by the Lack of a Salad Fork at the New York Yacht ClubRating: As an avid connoisseur of high-end dining experiences, I had the misfortune of visiting the New York Yacht Club, and let me tell you, it was an absolute disappointment. From the moment I walked in, I could sense that something was amiss. Little did I know, I would soon embark on a frustrating journey, all because of one missing element: the elusive salad fork. Now, I understand that the New York Yacht Club prides itself on its rich history and exclusive atmosphere, but come on! In this day and age, how can a prestigious establishment such as this overlook something as basic as a salad fork? It's mind-boggling. I can only imagine the shock and horror that would have ensued if a member of royalty or a discerning celebrity were to find themselves in such an egregious situation.Let me paint you a picture. The ambiance was elegant, the view breathtaking, and the service, for the most part, was impeccable. However, when the time came for me to indulge in the appetizing garden salad, I was left utterly dumbfounded. Instead of finding a perfectly balanced cutlery arrangement, my eyes fell upon a mere dinner fork, staring back at me, as if mocking my every bite.I immediately summoned the nearest waiter, a young chap who seemed well-meaning but utterly clueless about the finer points of table etiquette. When I brought up the grave matter of the missing salad fork, he looked at me as if I had just landed from another planet. It was clear that he had no idea what he had done wrong or why I was so upset. You see, a finer establishment would never commit such a heinous blunder. A restaurant that truly understands the art of dining would have anticipated the needs of their guests, ensuring that each course is complemented by the appropriate utensils. Alas, the New York Yacht Club fell far short of these expectations. It's the little details that make a difference, that elevate a dining experience from ordinary to extraordinary. A salad fork may seem insignificant to some, but to me, it represents a lack of attention to detail and a disregard for the standards of excellence that I hold dear. It is a symbol of mediocrity in an otherwise supposedly sophisticated setting. In conclusion, if you're looking for a dining experience that transcends the ordinary and encompasses all the subtleties of fine cuisine, I implore you to look elsewhere. The New York Yacht Club may boast a prestigious reputation, but the absence of a salad fork is indicative of a deeper flaw in their commitment to providing an exceptional experience. Save your time, your money, and your sanity, and seek out an establishment that truly understands the art of dining.

As a member of the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco we have reciprocal privileges to use the NYYC club (and Vice Versa) when we're are traveling. This goes for the NYYC Harbor Court station in Newport, RI. Our Commodore was having his "Commodore Cruise" in New England and the closing dinner was to be at Harbor Court. Now, with COVID there was a limit on guests amd total crowd for a dinner. We had over 100 cruising ew England and over 80 were due for the final dinner. Add Henri the hurricane to the mix and we had some challenges for the dinner. We had cocktails on the front lawn. Then, the NYYC set is up outside in the motor court area for dinner. This allowed us to get our entire group together. Weather was perfect. CalmBefore the storm as they say. We even had the opportunity to watch the clubs "colors" ceremony when they retreat the flag each evening prior to sunset. Now getting to the food and service. With COVID it is especially hard to find amd keep good servers. We struggle with that at our club. It here at the NYYC. First they had plenty of staff. A welcome reprise from those businesses who can't seem to ramp staff back up. Even more impressive, their staff are trained very well. Women first, serve from left, remove fromRight etc...I was thoroughly impressed that during COVID, and the night before a major hurricane, the NYYC was able to host the dinner for the StFYC and do so at such a best-of-class level. If you have a chance to visit Harbor Court, don't miss it!
