Stayed at the new NGIS in Newport and it was so much more comfortable than staying at the chalet for the clean bedsheets alone! The things I did not like were no tub if I wanted to take a bath. The military members would walk over from the other berthing and just party in the grill outdoor area. If we wanted to just use the grill and have a nice dinner outside we were in the midst of loud, obnoxious, swearing and drunk students. And lastly the room was only cleaned on Saturday and Wednesday so after a long day of training you just want to come to a clean room, nope. I should get a discount for being my own housekeeper.

Need to up the overall rating here. A number of the low ratings are clearly from before the renovation or new building (not sure which one). The newly opened 5 or 6-story building just inside the gates is beautiful. Essentially, a commercial hotel. Our room was excellent, clean, comfortable. Great location. Newport is very expensive so it's nice to have a place for $100 a night. Stayed over on a Saturday and couldn't have asked for more.

I stayed for a week in the recently renovated NGIS and enjoyed the cleanliness and convenient location on base. The staff are friendly but be prepared for a lengthy check-in wait if there are more than three people ahead of you. I forgot some items in my room and the friendly staff contacted me and arranged for them to be returned via mail. Outstanding location of you are visiting the Newport Navy base. Small refrigerator and microwave in each room!

No Kitchenette. No transit van to the Airport. Nearest food on base is a 30 min walk. $130 a night for Howard Johnson-esk room. The phone doesn’t work to contact the front desk. The Mini Nex is a snack bar w/ toiletries. The highlight was using the microwave to charge my cell phone and Apple Watch. Yeah my stay was not enjoyed.

Customer Service: 5+Location: 5+Parking: 5+Cleanliness: 5+Reservations: 5Comfort: 5+This military lodging is located the Newport Naval Station, and is byfar the best stay I've ever enjoyed at any military lodging. We was fortunate to get two nights while we was visiting the Rhode Island and Massachusetts area this past weekend. There is a huge parking lot on site, and they can accommodate small and large vehicles. The hotel has elevators and is completely handicapped accessible. This hotel has all the accommodations of other hotels. The rooms were very nice and extremely comfortable. Their wifi was very fast and reliable, which was great for doing any work.I'm absolutely 100% sure that we will return for another visit!!!Wonderful stay!!!

Great place to stay for the price (~$100/night). Base access is required to stay here. Staff is very friendly and facilities were clean and well kept. I previously stayed in bldg 442 and it was in need of renovation, but on this stay I was in bldg 172 and was VERY impressed with the queen suite rooms. Definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Nice hotel on base. Great mini nex in lobby area. The chalet is extremely outdated. A huge guessing game of what hotel you'll be in when you book your reservation. BLUF: the new NGIS is awesome, stay there!

The room was decent. It has a fridge, freezer, microwave, and tub with shower. The cleaning staff is friendly, but every single front desk staff is very rude and speak to you as if they are annoyed you are there to check in, check out, or ask a question.

Stayed at one of the NGIS building, not the main one. Had a room with separate living room and bedroom. Very clean and wifi was good. Pillows and linen very comfortable.Ways to improve is to take off the screws that prevent you from fully closing curtains. There is a sunshade but light still gets in and is annoying if you like a dark room to sleep in. Another annoyance was the smoke detectors. They have a bright flashing green light that interrupts getting to sleep. That light just let's you know it's working. Suggest another model or a cover.Great bathroom area but shower curtains had magnets on them but nothing to cling too. So water would splash out and curtain would such into shower area.
