This shop has some absolutely beautiful doll houses on display. Many are quite old, in very good shape, one of a kind, huge. A few are new, smaller and also unique in style. Her inventory also includes a variety of collectible dolls, a few books about doll houses and some parts you may need for repairs.The inside is stuffed full. It looks more like a storage room than a show room. The owner did mention since the lock down a lot of her items made their way into the shop and she hasn't moved them out again yet. She is the sole proprietor, states she travels to trade shows around the country and does repair work to doll house and dolls. One house she is working on she mentioned the owner asked her to 'make it cute' without giving further details on what 'cute' means to them, and the work she did was not well received, now the owner wants her to 'fix' it. She also mentioned as she is doing the work herself, she has quite a back log of projects currently.When we first arrived she began telling us about herself, her state of health, her projects, life experience and so on. Very personal information you'd talk about with close friends over coffee. She also took some time showing us the doll houses on display. Many of them are in the thousands of dollars range.After a while we were able to ask her some questions about a project we are working on and although she did not have any items to purchase for the project, she did spend some time with us going over the details and giving advice which was very kind and much appreciated. You can tell she really does enjoy her medium and considers herself an artist.The awning over the entrance to the store is not in good repair at the moment and she mentioned she may be leaving this location as the rents are going up so I'm not sure how much longer this little shop will be here. If you want to see and perhaps purchase some really interesting doll houses and collectible dolls, get on over there before it's too late!

Do not trust Charlene Rich of Miniature Occasions and Dolls in Newport Rhode Island. Dropped of dolls to be repaired to give as Christmas presents months beforehand with a deposit. Went to pick them up but only got excuses from Charlene Rich why she did not finished them. Charlene Rich did not care at all that two kids didn’t get their dolls for Christmas because of her broken promises. Here we are now in April with still no dolls or deposit back and more excuses from her why they are not finished and why she can’t give either back. Do not drop off anything to be repaired at this store. Also, do not give Charlene Rich who owns it any money if she asks for a deposit. She will keep your property for months if not years and will keep any money you give her for a deposit as well. Make sure you read the reviews for this business. A lot of people have had this problem with her. She will give you excuse after excuse why she can not return your property or money.

I am very displeased with her I left my doll and a deposit and 3 months later she still had not worked on my doll and did not want to give me my doll back. I did get my doll back after much grief but I did not get my deposit back. She is not trustworthy and I will never do business there again. I say stay away from this shop she is a liar and a con artist.

Each Christmas I would shop as local as possible and this was my place for doll clothes and accessories.Not always a welcoming place but it’s locally owned so I thought I continued to support them. One year at Christmas time, I bought a large doll carrying case from them. I examined several before choosing “the one”. It was taken to the back room, boxed and taped shut while I paid. On Christmas morning my daughter opened the box and to my surprise it was a different case and it had several little slices on the exterior covering. I returned to the shop and asked that it be replaced with the one that I chosen & purchased. The shop owner made many excuses, asked me for more money, said she would try to order another if she could remember where she had ordered from...so on and so on. It was a very BAD EXPERIENCE. Finally after much ado and me refusing to leave without the original case or my money back, she went into the back room and emerged with the exact case that I had originally chosen and paid for!!! It was a bizarre experience and I never shopped there again.A friend of mine had a bad experience there too. She brought her doll to be repaired, after a year of calls and stopping in, the doll was finally returned to my friend not completely repaired, naked, they kept the dolls original clothes, said they weren’t worth anything so they had thrown them away!!! And charged her a large fee! So not right.

Dont take your dolls here for repair. I am out of state and sent my doll for repair in August 2019. She has not charged me but despite calling her every month she has still not returned my doll. I only have to assume she has lost it. After a year and a half I have given up even expecting the return of my treasured heirloom. Stay away!

Lady who answered the phone was absolutely rude. If you don’t want to fix dolls then don’t advertise it. SMFH.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! That is all I can say about this mint doll and miniature shop. It is worth driving from California to Newport just to visit it.

Visiting from Houston, TX. Stumbled upon this precious shop the morning we were leaving. Charlene was so wonderful. Very patient with me. I must have looked at over 10 different dolls. I never felt pressured or rushed. I left with a beautiful doll and placed 3 others in lay-a-way. Thank you, Charlene!1
