Stayed here for our 1 night getaway to Newport. We stayed in the Cottage room and it was nicely private, clean and spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were are very pleasant and hospitable. The location makes you feel like you’re a local as it is on a residential street just outside the downtown area, but everything is ~10minute walking distance. The house itself is more modern and renovated than the typical inns in the area, but still gives you that New England character. Would love to come back and stay here again for a longer trip.

Let me start by first saying that I have been to the Marshall Slocum 4 times and it never disappoints. Mark has always been a great help at any time no matter what the need might be. The property is beautiful, and there is never an issue with parking. I also have never had any issues with noise while staying there. I don’t have anything but positive accolades for the Inn, the property itself, and all the rooms! I most recently stayed in the cottage and I loved it. I also liked what was called the Captain’s room as well. Really any room there has been wonderful. It’s so centrally located to downtown that you can just walk. No need to get in your car. The rooms are tastefully appointed, and anything you need is either already there or can be easily acquired. The rooms are beautiful, and feel historic in their own way. I would never hesitate to recommend Marshall Slocum Inn. And I know that I will be back. Mark and the staff there are wonderful!Rooms: Beautifully and simply appointed. Tasteful, comfortable and quaint.

We had a wonderful stay at the Marshall Slocum Inn! Mark checked us in and gave us some great tourist tips. The room was very comfortable and clean. There is a complementary yummy candy bar as well as tea and coffee available to guests. There are fresh baked goods and drinks to purchase. The lobby is a very nice place to gather and there is a great outdoor area to relax with a glass of wine. The Inn is central to everything for walking or driving. Parking is included. We would highly recommend staying at the Marshall Slocum Inn!Nearby activities: Visit the mansions, walk along Thames Street or walk the Cliff Walk.

Great experience! If you're staying in Newport. You're very close to all the shops in the ports. Lovely inn with quite a bit of character.

Just enjoyed a short stay at the Marshall Slocum Inn and I will absolutely return. The owners were so gracious and thought of every last detail making this antique home truly 5-star. We stayed in the Captains Quarters on the first floor. It was a very hot day and the room's air-conditioning was perfect. The sheets were luxurious and the mattress was incredibly comfortable. Everything down to the toiletries was just right. In the common area, there are so many options for food and beverage whether for a quick breakfast or a late afternoon snack. Honestly, I think my favorite surprise was "Gail's Sweet Shop" which was a little self-serve candy station that we may or may not have visited more than once. This inn is within walking distance of everything and along the route, you get to walk by gorgeous historic homes and cute shops that you may have otherwise missed. On top of that, they have their own spacious (and complimentary) parking area behind the inn adjacent to the back lawn and deck with plenty of seating. We'll be back for certain

Such a great place. My wife and I stayed here for a long holiday weekend and loved it. Great location to walk to Thames St and Bellevue Avenue. Owner was extremely nice and homemade croissants at breakfast were fantastic. Highly recommend staying here if you’re in Newport!

I stayed here for a weekend wedding, and I am so glad I did! Beautiful and quiet neighborhood with charming rooms. I stayed on the third floor and found it very comfortable (and immaculately clean). Staff were friendly, and I loved enjoying my morning coffee in the dining room. You're in walking distance to various neighborhoods, and while I didn't have a car, the Inn has ample parking. I definitely plan to come stay here again next time!

Excellent location. I was able to walk to everything. Room was very nice and quiet. Located on third floor with only access being the stairs. Realize this could be a problem for some folks.

Super cute old house. Lovely staff / owners. Great location. Our room however kind of sucked, bed was on the wall next to the corridor so could hear people walking past and speaking at night (ie felt like we had no privacy). Bedroom was also up stairs on a second level within the room - which was fine for us as we have no mobility issues but if you did, it wouldn’t work for you. Best to ask when booking about which room you are getting, if that’s likely to be an issue for you.

My fiance and I stayed for one night in early September 2022. We found a room at the last minute for a busy weekend and were very pleased with the experience. The Inn is beautiful, clean, well maintained, very comfortable and located in a quiet neighborhood. Free parking on the premises, a nice backyard and deck and a great location within a short distance to the commercial area for restaurants, etc were much appreciated. Nice little touches like a front porch swing and well stocked snack and breakfast area. (breakfast not provided as part of the deal) The innkeeper brought our bag upstairs at check in and was helpful but unobtrusive. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend the experience.
