Complete lack of transparency on billing. I asked for a printout of my rate and never received. Email confirmation does not have your rate. Management is unhelpful. Rooms are nothing special. Bathroom doors don’t close correctly. Pillows are horrible. Bar plays music until 11pm. So never try to go to bed before then. Overall, I do not recommend. Overpriced Motel 6.

Tiny rooms, zero closets, no fridge, paid parking

Beautiful hotel right on the wharf and close to everything. The hotel staff is very friendly and the room looks new.
There is a lovely indoor sitting area called The Bridge with chairs, tables, and workspaces but it is very warm when the sun shines through. That’s also where you can get bags of ice for your room.
The actual room is quite small but efficient. It DOES NOT however have the typical iron, small fridge, safe, or coffee pot, so don’t bother looking for them. The beds are a little too soft so I woke up with aches and pains.
The rooms are a bit pricey considering the room is “no frills.”
Valet parking is $45 per day with in and out privelages.

Given the lack of amenities and unfriendly front office staff, it's hard to justify spending $600.
You can't fix the size of the very small rooms, but at least offering such luxuries as water and working A/C would make this hotel more palatable. I guess you are paying for the location.

Very well placed. The only downside is no breakfast on site. Go to Annies... 5 mins walk.

The room was ok. Kind of small, but comfortable enough. It would have been nice to have a fridge.
Valet parking staff was great. The front desk staffer was rude. I walked in from the rain carrying a wet bag. The desk guy informed me that the hotel did not have a public bathroom and looked skeptical when I told him I would use the one in my room. It seems you are not supposed to use the front door unless you have just stepped off your yacht.
The location is nice. Next time I’ll try one of the zillion other hotels there.

Extremely unimpressed by this hotel for how expensive it is. The rooms are a similar size to a shoe box which also comes with no amenities. No coffee machine, no fridge, no iron, no closet (we had two coat hangers), 2 towels, no extra blankets, it was pretty much the bare minimum you could imagine. We had to run the water in the shower for about 20 mins before it turned warm. We were apart of a wedding that had a large majority of the guests staying at this hotel and we all had very similar experiences here. I don’t understand why parking is not included in the overall price of the rooms or includes in the “amenities fee you’re charged every day” even though there are no amenities. No breakfast just be small coffee pot in the lobby. Check in time was extremely long we had to wait around for a few hours for the rooms to be ready. Staff was very rude on multiple occasions to guests and also to the bride/groom that was staying at the hotel as well. I’d save your money and go stay at the Marriott two streets down. I bet they know how to treat their guests.
Rooms: Extremely small
Noteworthy details: Parking is not included and is an extra charge each day you’re staying there, no amenities included but charged daily for “amenities “

I NEVER leave bad reviews on anything but I feel like I have to for this terrible experience I had at this hotel. I was a part of a bridal party that was staying at this hotel for the weekend and the bride and groom did a 30 room block for all the guests of the wedding. Close to ALL of the guests who stayed at this hotel were treated extremely poorly. The staff at the front desk were extremely rude and impersonal able. Felt like they couldn’t be bothered by our presence. Even when we were just simply checking into our room (our room which was not ready WAY past the check in time) it felt as if we were bothering the staff just by simply checking in. Again, we were a part of a wedding party so we tried calling down to the front desk for extra towels, pillows, and hangers and no one answered the phone each of the 4 separate times we called. I was a bridesmaid in the wedding and in the bridal suite where we got ready, the temperature got up to 78 degrees and the air conditioner was not working. Again…. we tried to call down to the front desk and got no answer. Finally, the bride herself had to go down to the front desk to address this issue and and we were greeted by a VERY rude maintenance man who rudely laughed at us and told us it was hot in our room because we had a ton of people in the BRIDAL SUITE. Yes there were a lot of people in the suite but we were told they were a very accommodating hotel to host wedding parties in. WRONG. Maybe you should make sure your air conditioners are working properly before you allow wedding parties to book with this hotel. One of the other bridesmaids tried checking into her room and was told her room was not ready and that they would call her to let her know when it was ready. This bridesmaid walked away to greet the other guests then came back to the lobby to use the restroom in the lobby and was told she was not allowed to use the restroom because it was not available to the public. Keep in mind this lady who yelled at her for trying to use the bathroom was the same lady at the front who told her that her room was not ready just 10 minutes before this bathroom encounter. She felt so embarrassed and ended up going up to the brides room to use the bathroom. Terrible environment and terrible customer service. The only good thing about this hotel is the location and how close it is to the shops, bars, and restaurants. Highly recommend getting a hotel elsewhere in Newport. Rooms were extremely small and not accommodating AT ALL to a wedding party. The guys working at the valet parking was the only positive experience and the hi light of our trip here. They were so so so nice, extremely accommodating and personable. Maybe you should have the valet guys working in the actual hotel itself and you might get more positive reviews. I’m hoping these issues will be addressed so that no one else has to endure the negative experience that 30+ of us had staying here.
Rooms: So small

Rooms are very small and have no amenities. View looked out over a parking lot. The location is great down on the wharf but there are so many other places to stay in Newport that provide a much better experience.

Great location, comfortable bed, needs a continental breakfast added to the service offering. Not great to have to leave the property each morning. Also, price of parking for a hotel guest is steep, especially in the summer.
Rooms: PROS: The rooms are comfortable and very clean. Refillable water jug is provided. Bed and linens are very comfortable and overall the room was very quiet, except for the sound of the fan in the HVAC which was quite loud throughout the night. CONS: fan on HVAC was loud, small space overall with only room to walk around the bed, no coffee maker or refrigerator. There are zero amenities - not even a continental breakfast is provided so be ready to have to leave the hotel for morning dining. That really should be addressed for the amount of money spent here for lodging and parking.
Nearby activities: Tons of great shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Walkability: Location is the best feature of this hotel as it is centrally located on Thames, on the water, with many shops and restaurants in walking distance.

My two star rating was being generous at best I honestly thought upon arrival that this place was clean and modern looking and I might enjoy my stay here. I was traveling with my girlfriend and myself in one room and I purchased a second room for mother and my cousin who was visiting from overseas. When I made the reservation, directly with hotel, I asked if they had a room with 2 beds , I was told that they had a room with a queen and a twin bed. What we came to find out the twin wasn’t a bed at all but a long cushioned window seat. Not to mention this hotel (with the exception of the valet service) has no amenities in the room. (No kettle no coffee maker no fridge ) Also the noise level from adjoining rooms and staff in the hall were very loud, hard to sleep through the night. The bathroom showers also had no anti slipping mats which is why I writing this review from the urgent care office while my girlfriend gets a X-ray on her wrist from her fall. When we brought this to the attention of the manager she commented that we didn’t ask for an accessible room, in which we laughed thinking we didn’t need one till we stayed here. Anyway I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. Loved Newport though
Thanks

We almost stayed in Jamestown, so glad we didn’t! Newport is where it’s at! Hammetts is absolutely gorgeous. The lobby, the rooms, the views, the staff, etc. From top to bottom, 5-star service. I’m shocked this has a lower rating. People are way too picky. It’s a block from everything. Great hotel and incredible staff.

Stunning location right in the heart of Newport. Our suite had an incredible view of the city and the Newport Bridge. Beds were very comfortable for our weekend stay. Staff at the front desk and valet were all friendly and accommodating. Will stay again!

Location, location. Location. Over priced, small rooms, no amenities, can hear people above, in the hallway, and next to you. Most of the rooms don't have much of a view. Nice staff though.
Rooms: Small and cramped.
