First, I wish I could give Grenon's TEN STARS!. I live in NY and a few years ago visited Newport, RI. I came upon Grenon's of Newport, a fine jewelry and watch retailer. I was not in the market nor thinking of making any purchases. My wife Amy and I were recently engaged at the time. I always liked fine watches, just did not own any. Ray and his wife were lovely. Showed me several watches - I was just browsing. I tried on a Chronoswiss watch - it was beautiful. Next think I knew, Amy purchased it for me as an engagement gift (sorry guys, Amy is taken!).
Ray made the sale seamless. I enjoyed the watch for a couple of years until I began having some issues with it keeping correct time. Ray was always there to help me troubleshoot. Then the watch kept stopping at a certain time. Again, Ray helped me troubleshoot. When demagnitization wasn't helping, Ray asked me to ship it to him. The watch was just out of warranty by a few months. I shipped the watch to Ray. Ray did everything in his power to try to get the watch running using local resources to save me what would be a long delay and an expensive repair bill from the manufacturer. Remember I said "EXPENSIVE."
Ray then contacted me to inform me that he did everything in his power but the watch needed to go to Switzerland for repair. He prepared me for a long wait. Throughout the repair, he stayed in contact with me. Ray then discovered that about two weeks of the delay was due to an error in shipping the watch made by a long time employee. He did not have to tell me that but he took ownership of his portion of the delay, which was really inconsequential in the end.
THe watch was finally returned to him by Chronoswiss. Ray promptly returned the watch to me, wound and time and date properly set. What Ray did not give me is a bill! He absorbed the entire cost of the repair himself because he felt bad for the delay which was not his fault anyway!!!!
When I make my next watch purchase, the way it will happen is I will call Ray and purchasse the watch from him. There will be no calling other retailers. Post sale service like this is so rare and so extraordinary that you cannot put a price on it. REmember, cheap becomes expensive later on!

We can't say enough about Grenon's! The entire staff is warm and welcoming. We live here in Newport and after visiting various jewelers in Boston we decided to entrust Becky with our custom diamond ring. I gave Becky very specific parameters and boy did she deliver! The ring is absolutely gorgeous and totally exceeded our expectations.

Amazing buying experience with the owners Ray and Betsy. They introduced me to a whole new level of Horology! Unique watch brands that I’ve never heard about. I was so happy to find a piece that I really liked and what also made me happy about the experience
is they took their time to educate me about that brand before purchasing. Thank you again can’t wait to visit soon.

Visited this store today and Oliver helped us with finding a perfect watch. He was exceptionally nice and knowledgeable. The inventory was high quality and really unique and you can tell everyone there really cares and loves what they do. The owners were so pleasant and the entire experience was great. Highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of speaking with Betsy Grenon this afternoon. This boutique shop was one of the best parts of my visit to Newport. Betsy gave me an incredibly insightful tour of her shop and a lesson on the finer working of their magnificent watches on display. Although I am from out of town, I will go out of my way to make my next purchase from Grenon's!

First class business!Had an engagement ring custom made here. The process was effortless and timely. Once I received the ring the quality of materials and workmanship was evident.After my fiancé wore the ring for a time, we noticed that parts of it would catch on clothing. When we brought it back to be modified, they remade the entire thing free of charge! No issues since!Highly recommend!

I have gone into Grenon's of Newport a handful of times looking for the perfect gift for my girlfriend. All of the times I have gone into this business, it was nothing short of amazing! The staff is very friendly and accommodating and take the time to listen to your needs and recommend the perfect gift, even when you're unsure of what to get! I was fortunate enough to meet the owner of this establishment while finishing up my purchase and he is super friendly. If you're in Newport and looking for a great Jeweler, stop in to Grenon's.

My wife and I stopped in while visiting the area, and had already been shopping around for watches. The owners, Betsy and Raymond, showed us many different options and helped us settle on a model we had not been considering previously, but my wife totally loves. There was zero pressure, but it was evident that they knew their stuff. While Raymond was prepping the watch for us to take home, Betsy explained their watch buying strategy and how they find high quality and unique pieces from Switzerland and beyond to make shopping there a memorable experience. They also have plenty of gorgeous handmade jewelry. We don’t buy watches every day, but next time we do, Betsy and Raymond will be the first people we contact.
