September 2024 by Andrew Schneider
Full disclosure: Did not buy anything but witnessed an extremely odd interaction between a customer and the employee working there. This was between 1:30-2:30pm on September 10, 2024.
A woman who had just been in the store returned to check for her sunglasses she believed she left on the counter and asked the person working at the store pretty innocently “Did you see my sunglasses I left on the counter here?”
Immediately, the employee stated in an angry tone “They’re definitely not here” as if she was offended to be asked the question. Then unprompted, repeatedly kept aggressively suggesting that the woman searching for her sunglasses was in the wrong place and offered up the following:
“You probably dropped them on the sidewalk after leaving the store.”
“You should retrace your steps”
The woman then left the store, swearing she left them on the counter in this store as she was trying things on near the counter. After she left, the employee turned to my partner and exclaimed exasperatedly “good grief” and refused to explain further when asked what she was talking about related to the woman who had just left.
After I left the store, the woman looking for her sunglasses was outside still confused and asked my partner and I if we felt weird about how she was treated when asking if the sunglasses were on the counter. She told us they were Versace sunglasses, and that escalated the feeling that the whole interaction between them was weird.
This entire experience left me feeling like the employee definitely stole the sunglasses off the counter.
