Interesting. Technically I guess it would be a 1 bedroom because there are alcove doors that separate the bedroom from the kitchen. It's really not though, it's a normal sized hotel room with a full sized refrigerator. To have a water view from the room you enter into the bedroom. There is a full size sofa bed in the front room and only just enough room for the bed when pulled out. Efficiency kitchen not functional enough to do more than quick microwave items. I've been in extended stay motels that were 1000 times better than this for 1/3 the price. Parking, is a mess, Handicapped parking close to non existent. All kinds of people roaming around the dock area because of a bar in the next block. The view is the only thing they can really claim as being exceptional. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, I appreciated their helpful attitudes.
Rooms: Small. I would not be comfortable if it were 4 adults.
Safety: Lots of patrons from the bar up the street just roaming around the public areas
Noteworthy details: Parking... Zero, not convenient, not readily available.

Zero stars ! I called this hotel 3 days ago to confirm my reservations - they assured me I had the room I requested. So today I woke up to terrible weather with flash flooding where I live- I still loaded the car and drove over 5 hours in pouring rain from NY, with my two young children. I called 15 prior to check in to make sure our room was ready so I can park car in free parking provided only to be told I HAVE BEEN BUMPED FROM HOTEL due to overbooking!!!!! I prepaid in February for this room. I cried and cried as I tried to remain calm after the horrible drive with my poor kids witnessing it all. We were told we were “transferred to another hotel” but they didn’t know where. Summer in Newport- nothing is available! How could a hotel not call you in advance to let you know this information? If told this AM I would have canceled and not wasted my time. What a horrible experience. What terrible costumer service. I am still in shock! I have never experienced anything like this.

Amazing location. Close to endless options for dinner, bars, shopping, cafes and boating.
The view of the harbor from our room was spectacular.
Opportunities for improvement include a deep cleaning for our room and some new carpeting or flooring.

We love this location. So easy to go wherever you would like. Beautiful directly out your windows.
Rooms: Comfortable and quiet. Everything we needed in the kitchen area
Nearby activities: Close to shops, water ferry/shuttles, restaurants, tours, transit.
Walkability: We walked almost everywhere. But there are free trollies locate close if you need a lift
Food and drinks: What a wide range of places. We tried so many firsts this week, and everything was great. Expect higher prices.
Noteworthy details: There are probably more things to do than you have time for.

DANGER! The mayhem and violence that ensue in the parking lot due to the bar directly attached to the hotel is totally unsafe. Drugs, underage trafficking, broken bottles, violent drunks—not safe whatsoever. Do not stay here.

I have been an owner with Wyndham for over 20 years and this was my first visit to Club Wyndham Inn on the Harbor, in Newport, RI.
Is this resort in need of an update? Absolutely.
Is the Harborview spectacular and worth it? Yes and yes.
Every employee I dealt with during my stay was kind and professional. We were celebrating a birthday and a bottle of wine was sent to our room as a gift.
I requested a Harborview room, which was accommodated by Meeka, who I had the pleasure of dealing with on a few occasions prior to arriving.
The hotel does not have a pool or hot tub, but Smuggler's Cove sits on the 1st floor of the resort and offers fantastic drinks and bar food.
The location of Inn on the Harbor can't be beat. We were literally in the middle of everything and only had to use the car when we drove to the Cliff Walk, which I also HIGHLY recommend.
Parking can be tricky, but we luckily visited about a week prior to the start of the Summer season, so it wasn't as rough as I read about.
We spent 3 nights in Newport and both agreed that we wish we had one more night. SO much to take in......the seafood is spectacular and there's much to see and do.
We will definitely be returning.

I wished we had a full kitchen. Other than that it was very good. Thank you. The staff is vary friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
Rooms: Rooms are spacious except the kitchen just two hot plates. Full size fridge that was very beneficial.
Nearby activities: Lots of history in the neighborhood.
Most see the colossal mansions. It's driving distance but it's all worth it
Walkability: Must visit the churches in the neighborhood. It's all within waking distance.

I would not recommend this hotel for guest looking for a place to stay in Newport. This place is a time share. When we got there, our reservation was cancel. It took us 45 minutes to sort things out and got us a room. This room we booked about 6 month ago for a wedding party. The hotel was run down. The room was stain and the bathroom was disgusting. Definitely do your research before staying here.
Rooms: Room walls and carpet has stains all over the hotel
Walkability: Close by the water.

FRIENDS Don't Let FRIENDS stay at the Wyndham Inn on the Harbor.
Let me start by saying, it is close to the water, they have beds and showers.
Now my personal experience having never been to Newport Rhode Island.
Upon completion of an 18 hour drive from Michigan (not cutting across Canada, the border takes too long to get through.)
Tired from the road, the experience began with a
“Where’s Waldo” game of finding a parking spot. I discovered later that the resort has 56 rooms and 51 parking spaces (they have a few more but you will be double parked and blocked in using those spots.)
You can park across the street at the cost of 10 dollars a day/weekday, 20 dollars a day/weekend. It is 40 dollars a night. CASH ONLY. ( The resort will reimburse you for this parking with al receipt.)
As the week moved forward 5 more parking spaces were closed off due to remodeling being done! Keep in mind at this point the place was booked solid from the last week of April until August! Very bad time to remodel!
As far as the room, we entered tired and upset. (There are 2 levels of parking and if you are on the lower level you will need to carry your bags up one flight of stairs to get to the elevator.)
The hallway door opens into the bedroom. I found this very strange. This bedroom position does allow you to hear all the activity in the hallway, including the neighbors slamming their door repeatedly starting at 5:15AM. So if you like to be totally aware of the goings on around you, this is the place!
Do not worry, you have bifold closet type doors to separate the bedroom from the living area. That have knobs only on the bedroom side, so be careful when closing them.
The cabinets had a vinyl type wood pattern covering them. This was torn and peeling in many spots.
The carpet was stained and ceiling covering was peeling in spots.
Not all of the windows would open.
The exhaust vent in the bathroom had layers of dust stuck in it, dating back to the early 1700’s. (I guessed this was the historical aspect of the area!)
You will be provided pots and pans, microwave and a 2 burner cooktop, with utensils and plates.
Television and wifi included. (A bonus vhs/DVD player also! So bring your vhs collection!)
All of the staff was helpful except one.
A call was placed to the manager. Do not bother calling, there was no answer or voicemail.
The maintenance person was called to fix a wall mounted shampoo dispenser that had fallen off. He stepped into the shower with dirty work boots leaving footprints.
VERY IMPORTANT!!
If you are not booked in rooms Numbered 01 to 06 for example 201, 203, 403, etc.. your only view of the water will be when you are driving in circles trying to find a parking spot!
Request those rooms if you choose to stay here.
They actually painted the hallway walls of the floor we were on, Friday the daly before we were to leave!
( You can't make this stuff up! )
To be totally honest, I have had better amenities at a rustic campground.
I would keep looking for a place other than this. I will never return.
If it were closer to Michigan I would have canceled and gone home, the day I arrived.

We planned a stay at the hotel a few months in advance. However, we received a notification two days before our arrival that our reservation was canceled because the hotel was overbooked. After some research, it seems to be a pretty common practice for the hotel. If you book at the hotel, be prepared for the possibility of your reservation being canceled.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The only reason why it received 1 star is because of the location. My wife and I used this hotel as a "mini-moon" location to take a few nights away after our wedding. Upon arrival, the room was horrendous. There are attached pictures but each of the windows was lined with mold, the ceiling around the room was chipping, there was "gunk" all over the walls and the floor of the shower was gross. We both decided it would be best for us to go home so we packed our things and left (if this was the state of the "premium" room then we figured it was the state of all the rooms). We have been reaching out to Wyndham and the Club Wyndham company we booked through for four weeks and have heard nothing. They keep giving us phone numbers to call but it leads to a dead end. Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT STAY HERE. If we did not pay over 400 dollars for the room I would not be pursuing a refund. Wyndham, do better and be better when it comes to customer service.
