This place was seriously perfect. I had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, and honestly was a little hesitant, but overall I loved the experience. The location was perfect, we were here for a wedding and able to walk to everything. The rooms were clean. The staff were so friendly. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the conservatory, and they keep a bottle of wine out for you to sip and enjoy the view any time of the day. Would definitely stay again next time we are in Newport.
Walkability: Very walkable.

Is the second time we stay here. First time was last November for a wknd. And now this summer 2024. We really feel like we found a Gem. Heidi is amazing always there to help. Bedroom's are very clean and spacious with closets and drawers.
Safe neighbour to walk at night, close to everything.
Excellent parking lot, we left our car there all week didn't need it because everything was so close by.
Rooms: Super clean and nice. Great breakfast and nice view.
Safety: Neighbourhood super friendly and safe.
Noteworthy details: Transportation is easy trolley, walk or UBER. I recommend walking. Trolley could be full and won't stop at the stop!

I'm delighted to have found this gem on my recent trip to Newport. I came to town with my teenage son for a lacrosse tournament and had zero knowledge of the area; I was just seeking the cheapest place to sleep since all our time would be spent at the lacrosse field. However, this B&B was so charming! The location was perfect - surrounded by fun shopping, great dining, and SO many activities. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and makes amazing breakfast. The room was spacious, homey, and very comfortable. I 100% recommend The Artful Lodger.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was lovely. The included breakfast was good, check in was very easy, and everyone was kind. Location was quiet and easy to walk to nearby coffee shops and bars.
Would stay here again!

This beautiful b&b was built in 1850! It's pretty cool! From the conservatory you can see both Fort Adams and beautiful Newport Bridge. Service is excellent and friendly. Perfect location! You can walk to a mansion or downtown on the busy strip or to kings park that's on the water. Great spot!

My wife and I were treated very nice here. We were in town for a race and the staff opened up the breakfast room early so we could the facilities to have a pre-race meal. We also were allowed an early check-in. The parking lot is not as bad as some other reviews suggest, and there is ample street parking on Spring.

Stayed in the Captain Jorgen room on the first floor. The mattress is an amazing tempurpedic type mattress. Nice and quiet location. Great view from the conservatory. Heidi is such a great hostess. Her breakfast is AMAZING! You can text any questions that might come up to the host. The location is awesome if you want to go to the mansions. The Elms mansion is around the corner. There is a trolley nearby to take you down to The Breakers. We did a 20 minute walk there, then to the cliffwalk, and took the trolley back. There is a close by market if you want to pick up snacks for your stay.

DISAPPOINTED and underwhelmed. After reading the reviews of the Artful Lodge, my boyfriend and I were beyond excited to stay at this B&B. The room was tiny, old and out of date. The single stall plastic shower was adequate and nothing more. The sink is right next to your bed across the room from the bathroom. Awkward. You could practically hear the guests breathing in the next room. And definitely could hear every cough, sneeze or trip to the bathroom. It was like giggling at a sleepover at the unexpected entertainment. However, the real breakdown happened at breakfast. We found our way to the top floor to see the epic lake view from the conservatory and were met at the top of the stairs by the cook (owner?). She greeted us with an eye roll and said, “oh, you aren’t here to eat are you?” This was during the 8 am - 10 am breakfast period. She was rude and awkward and we felt pressured to leave. No worries…we just ended up down the street at Corner Cafe (hot tip - this place is awesome!).

Room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. A sold out weekend for hotels left us with no choice for other accommodations. Disgusting and would not recommend this place unless you like the smell of a 80s Moose Lodge.

be very careful if you make a reservation with a special rate-they will cancel you and use the excuse that "expedia overbooked". if you look at their website to make a reservation, there is a graph of the rooms and dates and what is available or an 'x' appears if not available, so how can my confirmed reservation, made 14 months ago with hotels.com, be overbooked-their words using 'expedia' and 'overbooked'. then she commented at the room rate! and hung up on me and sent 2 more of my calls to their recording. my "best available rate" was $40 plus taxes. this is all in the confirmation email, dated july 18, 2022, and to "please save or print this email as your receipt". they cancelled me 48 hrs before my trip to newport, to attend my 55th high school reunion, so i am not a young adult. shame on them.
